My name is Anita, I am in my sixties and a Senior doing Carnivore after having gone from low carb to keto to ketovore and now Carnivore. I have lost over 145lbs over the course of the past few years and I feel pretty darn fantastic!
The goal of this channel is to make Carnivore more accessible to the average person who has found themselves getting older and sicker and finds the idea of just eating meat to be too overwhelming. I am here for YOU.
I am doing this while also feeding others in my family who do all flavors of keto, paleo and there's even a vegetarian in the mix. I try to give multiple options for cooking meals to keep them all happy! I am not a professional cook, my only training is Home Ec in Grade 8 and 40+ years of cooking for my 4 kids! I'm just sharing things that help me stay on track and learning to cook the keto, carnivore and animal based lifestyle.
Love to HANG with Anita, Renee and everybody else! H - Hungry again? When do I usually eat, all the time?! A - Attraction. What is taking my immediate attention to this food? But.. N - What do you truly need? A place somewhere, a talk with a friend, a play with your dog? G - Go get it!
This was an interesting interview. Love her advice. This wasn’t carnivore but I ate a dill pickle the other day night when I was wanting something REALLY SWEET (sugar) after a rough day. 😂🤣😂😂 It worked!
What I've found that works for me, is finding my BMR calories and eating those calories every day through the week, with the same foods. Then on the week end I will eat what I want, with in reason and not count calories. It's all about developing a habit and sticking to it.
This was a wonderful interview! Having had different types of abuses throughout my life from 11to 30 years old, I always could lose 10 lbs easily but I always started feeling physically and emotionally uncomfortable and never went past that and now with being meat based with an increased fat intake , I am gradually losing and don't feel like quitting at all and I know this is the way I'm going to be eating for the rest of my life and it may be because of all the other health improvements that are happening like GI issues gone, and mental clarity, mood Improvement, post chemo nueropathy pain improvement etc. Even though I have like 50 lbs to lose, I'm not really concentrating on that , because I know it is going to happen, if that makes sense. It's funny because I did not want to do any " priming" types of processes with a group but those processes of priming, adjusting, healing, and weight loss are all happening anyways!
I forgot to save some of my first batch aside before I flavored and sweetened my yogurt. Can it still be used as a starter or start all over again with the tablets
Now that I'm carnivore I don't worry about emotional eating... When I was snacking a pack of oreos that's another story. But now it's a pack of thick cut (super fatty) bacon 😂
This was great! Lots of similarities in my story... emotional eating since a child, hospice was my job, and didn't lose my 65 lbs until I was 52 in 2010. She makes SO much sense and sounds like a great coach. Thanks you two. I STILL stay away from Toll House cookies, preferably frozen, in the basement deep freezer of my parents.
This is the first I heard of someone that was doing carnivore and wasn’t in Ketosis. I have always heard I do not even have to test as long as I’m eating fat and meat. I am in Ketosis. Going to have to look harder into this. Thanks for sharing your story.
It’s a common teaching and misconception, based on the assumption that glucose and ketones are only in response carb intake and completely misses the insulin link.
I love your video's Anita, and I love that you try to keep the ingredients to a minimum. I am wondering what to use as a sub for the cream cheese as I am dairy free at this time. Most of the dairy free cream cheeses in Canada are not clean. Any suggestions are welcome.
Great conversation. Thank you. I related with the conversation around 'fear on the other side of weight loss.' My fear is gaining it back plus ten pounds, which has happened so many times before. Even though it has been 3 years since I lost weight, that concern is always there. I grew up in a family that celebrated everything with food -- mostly sweets and other carbs. Death in the family? the pasta-based casseroles arrive from friends and neighbors. Birthday, anniversary--lay out the cakes, pies, cookies. My life and my mindset had to change.
So sorry I missed this!!! I have been doing carnivore for 14 months and I have not lost ANY weight at all (I need to lose 50 pounds). I have tried eating more and more fat and more protein, but the only way I lose any weight is fat fasting when I am sick...but I gain it back once I am well. While I know I am healing... there does NOT seem to be anything I can do to lose weight or inches. I am not an over-eater, but I am trying not to be an under-eater either. It seems like something is deeply wrong but I just don't really know where to even go or try.
Christina Mathewson...I wish the GAPS DIET had been ALL YOU CAN EAT meat & bone broth 20 years ago...I would have been so much further along in healing. Sadly, it was restricted to 1/2 cup bone broth and 1 cup hamburger each meal with squash as the filler. I could not get squash and I could not see how starving myself on top of all my other misery was going to help me. So...I finally tried carnivore 1 year ago....my gut is slowly healing
Lots of love Anne, I’m sorry that was your experience and sadly like anything, not all practitioners are the same and back then the knowledge was limited.
@@Penneypepper have you watched many shorts? Every one I've watched, regardless of length, is on a continuous play loop as long as you don't stop it yourself.
Hello Anita. New to your channel. I'm new to carnivore. I teeter from keto to carnivore. The biggest question I have is - what are your thoughts about taking supplements. Are you taking any??? I am seeing a holistic doctor and I was put on a lot of supplements. I'm wondering if that was a good thing? Here's the list: Bioavail Multi Vit, Nattokinaise, D350, Concentrated K, Iodine tablets, Pregnenolone, Vit C, CoQ10, and B6 complex. So, do we get enough of the vitamins and minerals eating just meat, do you think?? THANKS.
There are several carnivores that talk about how dropping the plants causes them NOT to need supplaments. I have seen that is true for most supplaments. Other than Vitamin D (maybe K too) in northern regions & for menopause (HRT). But I stopped most supplaments and found that I needed them and needed to go down slowly. So as you go carnivore, slowly cut the multi-vit & Vit C & B, CoQ10...see how you feel. Break in half....Even every other day...all ways to slowly cut down.
I personally and professionally don’t taken many, and prefer to eat foods that fill those spaces instead, however for some people it’s necessary for a period of time.
As a South Africa, I, along with every one else here, grew up on biltong (dried, salted, raw meat). And here we still are. I totally agree with you. Thank you for all your amazing recipes.
