Waste of time you putting this up as there is no sound, This is why I don't sub these channels. IF you want to progress your channel more them it would be wise to add sound to your video. Shame as the quality of the video is very good. My honest opinion,
Gosh, this brings back memories of the late 1970's to early 1980's when I was a young secondman at Eastleigh. The North London Line was one of my old stampting grounds... We used to go via the Western Main Line via Basingstoke and Reading, and via Byfleet Jn, Virginia Water, Staines, Feltham Jn & Brentford Jn to get to Acton Wells Jn... We used to go everywhere, long before the electrification of the western main line... The fog just seems to make the video even more atmospheric. The lack of a sountrack doesn't worry me either... I would know exactly what noises were coming from the engine & the cab.... Now long retired after doing more than 40 years service as a secondman/relief driver & driver, most of it in South Wales. The area around Stratford has changed beyond all recognition though...
The videos are for drivers to help them route learn. The sound comes from opening another tab or playing music from an MP3 library. Which I can assure you is far less boring than beeps bongs and a diesel engine.
Fast? Just bear in mind that when the first HST timetable was introduced in 1977 the standard running time, start to stop, from Paddington to Reading was 22 minutes. We are now expected to celebrate getting back to that figure. Progress, what is that?
These videos are intended for drivers route learning. The indicator fast is not a commentary on historical train times but a fast way to indicate to drivers the fast lines. And yes I'm well aware that different lines have different names.
Daventry DIRFT is used seven days a week .. Freightliner are doing MALCOLM to Mossend and Grangemouth for one, DRS also do similar paths there also with their 88s, 68s and sometimes 66s
Sorry to be a pain is it posable to add station names and any other items I.E railway yards, engineering workshops, as It would be helpful when following on a Rail Atlas please
Thank you for this. On the ‘Gingerline / Overground’ part of the journey, why do several of the stations have unused platform sections - surely they didn’t have longer passenger units in the past?
Can't answer for all the stations, but at Harringay Green Lanes there used to be a greyhound track there. Leyton Midland Road is the closest to Brisbane Road so Footex trains could stop there.
Noticed that the overhead wires have been changed. With Network Rail to continue on replacing overhead wires between Pitsea-Barking, Grays-Upminster and Pitsea-Shoeburyness. And to replace overhead wires between West Ham-Fenchurch Street.
Another fine video but IMHO completely ruined by the lack of sound. I suppose there's a good reason but I'd love to know what it is. So I gave up on it after about 15 mins.
As with all the videos 1 potential for bad language 2 the videos are ment for route learning for fellow drivers 3 opening another tab and listening to music is far more pleasurable than listening to a diesel.
Very interesting video but it would be much better with sound and information on station names and other points of interest i.e yards, depots, railway works ect.
I always record without audio for two reasons 1 language used. 2 opening another tab and putting on decent music is far better than listening to the drone of a 66.
