If you like detail, my videos are for you. I try to cover everything you would need to know to tackle all kinds of home improvement projects. I'm in the process of renovating my 150 yr old home and have been filming each step. I also build custom homes for a living and have started the process of making tutorial videos for just about every part of the building process.
Please consider joining my Patreon network. I just started it, but I think it can be a great resource for anyone taking on projects around the home. You'll have direct contact with me and will also be able to take advantage of my access to my very talented subcontractors who are some of the best in their trades. That being said, you do not have to join and I will always do my best to answer any questions you leave in the comments. I really do enjoy sharing everything I know about building and remodeling homes!
Can I use pink foam board for my shower curb and liquid nail the curb to a concrete floor. Watched a few videos on wood curbs and there is discussion on expansion and contraction of wood curbs
I am sorry, but as a European watching this is like going 50 years back in time like... Everything looks very antiquate in the US. I am shocked there is such a difference in electrical work between these continents.. QUESTION; if all sub panels have to have separated grounds and neutrals, why do the ones I look at, only have the neutral bus bar and you have to know you need to buy another bus. Are to install for the ground wires,Magen be sure it is grounded to the ground rods, ugh!
Thank you, watched your video twice so far and there is so much you show, exactly what needs to be done before move to the next step, always expressing safety mindfulness. Was unsure at first of switching (2)30amp double pole breakers to (2) 40 amp breakers after changing cable to (2) 8awg cables. have more confidence it is still code.
As a PRO it's so easy to spot a PRO. This is the right way to roll a wall. With moderate speed, from left to right, after all cutting in has been done. I see some rookies made W's on walls then come back from right to left, what a garbage.
Always, always mask off evening before you even open the paint can. Mistakes will happen and you'd rather have it on tape than on the adjacent wall, door and window trim or baseboard. Also have absorbing clothes on hand with some paint thinner. This dude has all the money to buy expensive Purdy painters supplies but no experience. Don't listen to this dude.
just spin your mud for your the pre float in a bucket. it doesnt matter what it is only that .its there and is pitched 1/4 inch per foot. no need to drypack as a matter of fact its assnine.
I can't thank you enough for this video, as I am re-building my shower because of how many mistakes I made. Do you have a good reference videos for "pre-sloping" a shower pan liner? I have concrete and I did not pre-slop my pan, but I used a perfect slope template the first go around. I want to do it perfect this time around and any help would be appreciated!
So if I'm trying to install a 100 amp sub panel and the wire is going 30' through an uninsulated crawlspace, and then the last 15' through insulation, do I use 1/0-1/0-1/0-2 stranded aluminum SER?
I thought that I learned really good info on your approach to laying a bed layer over tar paper and the water proofing membrain over the first layer and corner tucking. Border layer to level 3-4 inch wide, slooping to the pebbles to allow wipe holes to be open for the moisture to flow out and away to prevent any possible failure. I'll be researching the drain system that have the wipe holes. So, the part about leaving a gap for the backing board over the membrane seems feasible, I'll check on it, too. Over all, great presentation, thanks.
nice job. but I wish you would have not filled in the holes and kept it rustic... my husband is about to build a rustic custom stand for our farm sink in the laundry room.
Finally, a video that actually shows how to do this without leaving out pertinent information or videos that contradict and confuse in the same damn video. I would guess if Google actually wanted t censor content for the safety of people watching, THIS would be the appropriate topic. I would hazard a guess that >90% of "sub panel" videos would be removed. Semper fi brother, but my chevrons had rifles not hammers there Devi Dog!
30 years ago I was building custom homes as a super and we had a few pans leak. I have been telling guys not to put the durarock in the mortar bed ever since and build a pre slope. Guys would argue since you can’t nail the rock 6” from floor pouring the mud base against the rock keeps it secured. I always said that is wrong. Great video and glad to see I was doing it correctly. I would build the pre slope myself since sending tile guy was too expensive. Our plumbers would install the liner at rough. We would protect the liner with cardboard. We hung drywall and durarock by the drywall crew (of course I checked studs in showers for plumb and bowed studs first) and tile guy would pour the mud pan when they arrived for hard surfaces. Never had problems that way. Just people saying I was doing it wrong but no leaks or call backs 20-30 custom homes a year before the market crashed and now I do rentals lol but i miss home building now.
