My videos are mostly about illustration, webcomic creation, and my journey as an aspiring self-taught artist.
I am a Japanese Canadian illustrator and webcomic creator who loves to make illustrations that speak to the heart. I am drawn to gentle watercolors, detailed pencil linework, and expressing the human condition in my work. I especially enjoy incorporating my Japanese heritage into my illustrations. I am most well-known for my free-to-read Webtoon, "Heart on a Stale Canvas", and for sharing relatable videos about my life as an aspiring self-taught artist on RU-vid. By sharing my stories and illustrations, I hope to help others feel comfort in knowing they are not alone in their experiences.
Thank you for visiting my cozy little corner of the internet.
Rini, hello! I have noticed that in this video at 5:36 you have shown MAC address for your new printer (MAC address has a format of six pairs of letters and numbers separated by ":"). In general it's not a huge security risk, since your internet provider, for example, knows MAC addresses of devices connected to the internet. However, this information can still be used maliciously, for example, someone nearby can mask another device under this address and use it to connect to your network successfully bypassing verification checks and access potentially sensitive data. I would suggest blurring this information in your video. Good luck setting up your art shop!
Hii!! Oh my gosh 😱😱😱 I literally had no idea!! Thank you so much for letting me know and looking out for me 🥺💕 I really appreciate it! Hopping into RU-vid editor to figure out how to mask it asap (x_x;;)
@@루카-k6d Oh my goshhh x_x;; Ah, I didn't think to check if it popped up in other parts. Thank you so much again 루카!! P.S. my little sister @leechuts gave me a heads-up that she saw your other comment about it popping up in other parts of the video. Sosooo thankful I have so many good people looking out for me ( ಥ_ಥ)💕
@@wrrilc Hii! No worries! ╰(*´︶`*)╯♡ Pretty much all of my Procreate brushes are purchased from Creative Market. I have links to all brushes and resources available on my Patreon if you’re interested!
@@ivypanduh Ooo!! I hope you can find one! I've also seen people use little plastic storage baskets to hold rolls of thermal paper to keep them from rolling all over the place LOL! Kind of like this: a.co/d/8kLalEV That might be a good alternative if you can't find a mint stand! 😍
This is soo pretty. The fact that you even showed the hours that go into making these amazing art really helped me understand the sheer effort that goes into making all these. Thank you so much for sharing!
I have Raynauds as well! I live in the UK and if you don't know, UK summers are non existent so it's pretty cold and pretty grey weather. But I struggle with cold feet and hands daily. I recently bought silver lined gloves from a raynauds website in the UK (they sell socks and whole bunch of stuff) and it's been life changing for me because regular leather, or fabric gloves don't work. I have to often wear the silver lined gloves and then wear mittens over it to keep my hands warm. the socks are amazing as well, they are the only socks that keep my feet at a good warm temp without my feet getting two sweaty or moist if you know what I mean. I feel your pain Rini, I do. I've lived with this my whole life and it's pretty difficult because I can't work if I lose circulation, can't walk properly, can't write or type lol
Really resonated with your point at 9:00 -- I went back to school for a different career because the art path didn't end up where I had hoped. I ended up taking a step back, and had to face reality. I'm really lucky to have the support, both emotionally and financially, from my family and partner that allowed me to go down the art path in the first place. But it didn't sit well with me for them to have additional financial burden (as in, I wasn't able to contribute financially), hence the career switch. I still do art on the side, but obviously not as much time as I would have liked. (9:20) this is exactly what I'm trying to achieve with the career switch/stable job. In a sense, I'm making money so that I can freely keep doing what I really love instead. That should've been my first thought, but younger me was naive and way too hopeful. Not to discourage anyone who wants to take the direct path though! It just didn't work out for me. In hindsight, I should've chosen a career that would have supported my hobby, and from there, I could have worked towards building my art career up, free from financial burdens.
I listen to chit-chat sections carefully... But if you want to rest a bit and play Animal Crossing, I'd still watch and enjoy it ^.^ Would also love to listen to anime chat sections, your favorites, your most anticipated, nostalgic anime etc. Wish you successful comic launch and shop setup!
I love your long videos. I am so grateful for your calming presence while I work. I have Reynaud's too! You said that and I had to quickly Edit my Comment! :D
Thank you so much graey!! Ahh! (>w<)💕 I'm so glad you appreciate the chatty breaks! I had another viewer comment something similar. Tbh, for the most part, it's not too hard for me to come up with bits and bobs to ramble about. It's just when I run out of things to say... I worry I'll spew something weird or off-color BAHAHA 🤣🤣 I guess it's something we all worry about! I'm thinking I'll keep the chatty sections in for future videos since I do think it makes the feeling of having a work buddy more realistic (like chit-chatting with a friend sitting next to you after studying together for a while) Thank you so much again for your comment!
@@Riniapple Of course 👍👍I agree that the chatty bits make it feel like a buddy working on something with you but I think I also just really enjoy hearing about people's thought processes when making decisions 😅 maybe because I feel my way of thinking can be so convoluted 😅😅 ps. I think most of us viewers probably say equally weird or off-color things sometimes so it's all good haha and on an offhand if you yourself enjoy watching the behind the scenes for comic/manga creators, I've been re-watching a series hosted by Naoki Urasawa. It's called Manben/Manben Neo, it's a fantastic resource and if you don't already know about it you'd probably enjoy it!
