Thank you for your tip! I tried everything to stop my seat post slipping.....nothing worked, until I tried out your nail polish method, it worked a treat! Incredible!

Thanks for tips. I have thought the same way to solve seat post slippage. I used ShoeGoo on sleeve- a very thin smear. It did not work. So I smeared the seat post in the clamping area and let it dry, it worked better…. Not causing the seat post to bind when lowering it. I will try your method with the gel nail polish on the seat post first. I may try it on the plastic sleeve. We are talking about 1000th of an inch or 2000th of an inch increase in outside or decrease in inside diameter. It is very critical. Your tips are very useful, thank you, Sir.

Been testing and using this method for a year...and so far only replenish the gel once. It works great and even good with carbon seatpost. Serrated surface seatpost likely won't last that long due to the serrated surface will removed the nail polish coating during movement.

Yes, I agree with you on that point. I will try your gel nail polish solution, it certainly sounds promising. The extra clamp is also a good solution. There is a H.K. Outfit that sells a reamer for a new seat post sleeve. But you need to be somewhat professional to do a good job. If you have a very good local Brompton bike mechanic, it is worth while paying his tariff to get the job done well if you are not a professional mechanic. Being a mechanic myself I prefer to do the job myself but I would go to a good bike mechanic who is doing this type of job regularly, that can be valuable.

As a tall Scandinavian man my bike was sold as standard with an "extra long" model seat post, and for a test I have just bought a standard length, black titanium seat post for my Superlight bike. I found out that I could just pull it out to max and then it is still a little too low, but useable during travels, when needed (I may put it directly in my B&W, special travel box for the purpose/Brompton, without removing saddle and post, as before (not that smart for a folding bike)) But riding it with my heavy weight on top gives the post some punches which makes it fall a little into the frame so I have to do some adjustment at intervals, and I may try Your advise also.

A Chinese, black titanium, Brompton type, secure post is sold for about the same price as a standard post from England, I found out when looking for one. And it is (At least mine) really solid and with a quality feel, and the weight which is given in the add.

@@finncarlbomholtsrensen1188 I did ordered a titanium seatpost for my brompton friend..from China Taobao..the brand is AGEKUSL..works pretty well with no issue. Its a lot lighter, looks much nicer and doesn't have to deal with corrosion ..which happens on brompton steel seatpost.
