I just realized that they did all the shows without an audience. So, they had to do these bits without the energy feedback from audience applause. I have a new level of respect for them.
Oh, hiya, I'm here on the word of The 1920's Channel, per his "Good News about Our Gang" video this week. Peachy! Also, Chris Bungo Studios does Los Angeles "then and now" street comparisons of sites in the show, and I recognize that brick bldg corner probably. The outdoor locations were pretty much in a nearby zone to the studio. Great job.
The first episode should be the most exciting of them all. For decades the only known surviving footage was minimal, the rest was thought to be forever lost. 8 sources were collected and pieced together to make it near complete and about to be commercially available for the first time in 100 years. Let that sink in.
The CBS executives hated Gilligans Island. I find it hard to believe they green lighted this series. Not only did they have one series that they were embarrassed about now they had two. As an audience we fell in love with the characters from GI. But this series was just plan dumb! The retooled second half was even worse! But CBS got their revenge on Sherwood. Both series were cancelled at the end of this season. Although GI should have gone on for at least on more season.
Greatest front man of all time! Nobody could move an audience like Alfalfa, especially when he nailed those high notes. His face expressing the passion of his singing, the perfect timing, pitch perfect tones. Legend. Thanks for the memories!
In about 3rd grade kids sang on the playground, "it's about time, it's about space, it's about time to slap your face." Followed by an attempted slap of course. I never heard of the show or knew where the song came from. I had only heard the playground version.
Fantastic! You should post on all social media that you are looking for these silent shorts to restore. I think there is more than a decent chance that a collector or collectors somewhere in the world has the ones that are missing.
In my wildest dreams did I ever think that we would get the sound comedies released on Blu-ray, this is almost too good to be true! I cannot wait!!!’ Day one purchase!
