Hey dear, god bless your efforts in this channel. I have a general enquiry as a new sql learner. How could i create a pipeline to extract and load data from existing accounting program into our SQL server instances. How can i know if the export mechanism in the software permits me to undertake this extraction process, and how can i know if an application have an api? Thanks for taking care of my enquires. Looking forward to gain more knowledge from you.
GREAT presentation, it would more great if you told how to fix the query (or minimize resources) at the end of the presentation and also saw blockings at the end of the Resource Semaphore wait. How do you fix the blocking on this case. I am not asking about general blockings. Thanks again.
FYI, the primary goal of partitioning is ease of data management not performance. Though it may improve performance it is not meant to be used as a performance tuning technique.
Sidd DBA, I disagree with your statement. If the primary goal was just for ease of data management, you don’t need to partition. You could simply denormalize table and eliminate joins. The idea behind partitioning IS TO improve query performance and you do so by splitting larger data into multiple file groups to reduce the number of rows a query has to process. FYI, it may serve you best to further your studies before throwing an uneducated statement. :)
@@nismokid I'd suggest you to do a bit research before posting generic statements. The primary purpose of Table partitioning is not improving query performance. Better you start reading and doing research.
Great session, Thanks for making it available on RU-vid. One question here, looks like Tabular model is extension of multidimensional model, so what is the counter part of semantic model. For example, in SSRS 2008, there was a concept of semantic model which could connect to cubes as well as directly to database. It was a user friendly model, which gave business users capability to create their own reports. Suppose we want to migrate those SSRS reports to Power BI, for example there are two categories of reports, Semantic model based SSRS reports which use cubes and which do not use cubes. The ones which use cubes can be migrated using this video , by creating a user friendly model, is there any way we can migrate the semantic reports which don't use cubes, there is a way that we generate physical SQL query for them but that approach is not good for business users so I am looking for an approach which will create a semantic kind of model. Please let me know if my question is not clear. Thanks in advance for your suggestion,
