Last night (5/9/24) I tuned into Radio4 Extra to hear Dad's Army. Instead they played the 1st episode of its sequel, featuring Lowe & Le Mesurier reprising their roles a few years after the events of DA. Arthur died before making episode 2. It was pretty good writing, but Lowe sounded really drunk. Very slurred (like in this interview) yet perfect line readings, still great timing. I didn't know that he had a drinking problem, or if it contributed to his stroke. A brilliant actor.
It is confirmed that we are hearing the former #England #footballmanager #SvenGoranEriksson. He dies at 76 of his age, the whole of the #soccer community will be missed. #RestinPeace (05 February 1948-26 August 2024) #RIPSGE #RIPSven #RIPSvenGoranEriksson
A great entertainer. Only wish now that I had went and watched him live.. I had the chance but the last train was 11pm and we all know what Ken was like on stage! lol. R.I.P.
I saw him live in Blackpool in the 1980s. I cannot remember anything about the show other than being in hysterics from start to finish. I was a cocky teenager at the time and thought he was going to be lame because he had a tickling stick and diddy-men, and he wasn’t a ‘blue’ or ‘edgy’ comedian that typically appealed to my teenaged-self. But he was brilliant, and I don’t think I have ever seen a comedian live who has made me laugh as hard or as long.

One of our finest actors and a genuinely lovely man. To this day, I've never tired of Dad's Army and is still a brilliant series. He was also really good as narrator of the original Mr Men series. Thanks for the memories Mr Lowe ❤ 😊
When you look at thr utterly pathetic names from the 'entertainment' world who were honoured with such awards as Knighthoods etc it's staggering to realise people like Arthur Lowe and John Le Mesurier were overlooked!! These day's I think the entire cast of Dad's Army would have rightly have been honoured.
