I have both the D2 and this LR3. The D2 is a fun vehicle but the LR3 is more capable off road. The LR3 V8 is in my opinion the most dependable Land Rover made. Awesome overlander as long distance highway is super comfortable and off road manners are superb. Yes, it's lifted via lift rods and the GAP tool, (GAP is an absolute must for LR owners). The factory air suspension is another reason the LR3 is the best choice for overlanding as you can raise and lower the car about 11 " Feel free to reach out if you'd like more info. The LR3, 4.4 is probably the most dependable Land Rover made. But you really have to know how to do everything yourself. People fear the air suspension system, but it's actually quite simple and easy to maintain. I truly think it a top choice long distance overland vehicle.
