I really enjoy watching you. I have been gathering new craft supplies to learn to make jewelry. I am not quite ready to start as it take time to get everything. Can you please recommend wnat store in Canada to get wire / Michaels don’t sell but a few inches no spools . Shopping in usa is to much for me, if you can help that would be great as I can start once I get the wire . Thanks
I'm so sorry but I have no idea where to buy wire in Canada... a few you might check, maybe they are big enough that they also sell in Canada is... Riogrande.com (Major wire supplier)... and try FireMountainGems.com too, they are a pretty big supplier also. I have searched and seen some Sterling Silver as well as Craft wire and Copper wires on Amazon... I don't know any of the suppliers there, but you might also search and look to see what you might find. Good luck! Thank you for watching!
Ohh wow!! That's amazing!! 😍😍😍 So beautiful work, Is it posible to make this with round wire? In my country is impossible to find square wire 😢 thank you so much for share your beautiful work!! I learn a lot with you ❤️
Thank you so much, Sals! Yes... anything you see in square wire for wire wrap on my channel can be done in round wire also. Enjoy and I appreciate your lovely comment! xoxo
Stunning! 😍 I totally understand why you were upset to have to dismantle it. I actually just retired a client because I was constantly having to redo pieces. After each consult ( done each and every step) she would say yes that's what she wanted. Even through the dry fit stage, only to say no upon completion. I was spending way too much time redoing and it was killing the creative process. So sorry you had to take it apart. It truly is beautiful.
Thank you for sharing your experiences too, Candace! I think these comments are very helpful to new artists and I don't blame you for retiring that client either ;) xoxo
That's tiny!!! I'd use 22g round wire (maybe 24), the prongs need to capture the stone just under the Ridge and need to come down onto the stone just over the Ridge... it's a hard call but I'd think that 2 or 3mm long will work for your prongs. Practice with a similar stone so you don't accidently scratch on your intended stone... for these tiny prongs, you can probably use chain nose pliers... use the tip between them, the space between the prongs needs to be very tiny too... I would set that stone with four prongs... three is hard for me, but you can do 3 prongs too... Let me know how you do, Sandy. Good luck! Lots of light, work over a felt or towel so the stone doesn't bounce off the table if dropped. Hugs! Brave soul! Teeny tiny stones are a challenge for me, so I admire your effort! xoxo
@@PerfectlyTwistedJewelry Thanks for the info! I am gunna keep trying, even if I don't get it... I am tenacious! I'm wondering if 3mm IS too small!! LOL
Believe it or not, 3mm is a common size for channel setting stones as well as prong style. Took me almost a year to learn to set these tiny stones. If you are seeting more than one, you can do a channel set... check your members' tutorial called Josephina Opal. ❣️❤️
I watched the 2nd part fist, now I have both, I hope you do not mind, I share on pinterest, that is the way I do not lose the tutorials of your beautiful work. Thank you so much for sharing! 😊❤
Beautiful work ! thank you for sharing it ! I loved all the detail and explanation you gave , you have a nice voice.I have been waiting for a long time to set a small cabochon, and you just show me how to do it.❤
I did something very similar a few mos ago. I used two sets of prongs, with two center wires. Someone on my fbook pg accused me of copying. My response was: prong settings date back 5000 yrs before the Phonecians 😊 we should thank our ancestors. 😊
@PerfectlyTwistedJewelry 'we all learn from eachother. We wouldn't share free tutorials if we didn't learn unique techniques to accelerate our journeys in this Ancient Art. ✨️
Your tutorials get more and more beautiful! I'm not sure I'm ready to do this😂 also you said you were determining the radius of the stone with the graph paper (great hack BTW), but it's really the circumference which on a circle, is 2x radius x pi...Im good at maths but just starting doing prongs😢❤❤❤
Thank you so much, Alice! I'm not sure what comes out of my mouth sometimes, I meant circumference...and I mistakenly said diameter. This formula works great for the soldered bezel, but it's not accurate for wire wrap because we don't bring our wire ends back together tip to tip (but it can probably get you close for the cir., but we need more wire), so I try to stay away from introducing any math other than really simple ways to get the measures needed. Thank you again so much for watching! xoxo Check out my Rock, Paper, Scissors video on how I get the length for the rest of the wire needed in for the wire wrapped pendant, if you're interested ;) Thanks again! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dil9ei884Pg.html
Good morning, Seer! This is a tight wrap... it's using 18g, square soft wire on a small cab... if you size up to 16g, on the same size stone, it will be difficult on the bigger wire... you can try this on a cab that is perhaps 10 to 12mm... maybe 14mm... still keep in mind that this wrap will be hard on your hands at 16g. I hope that helps! Please keep me posted on how you do. Welcome again, to Membership!❤️🙏❤️
Oh! so I'm going to make some coffee and watch this the whole way through.. I have two of these ametrines... just a wee bit smaller, that I've been wanting to work on that sits really deep.. This is exactly what I need! So happy to learn it from my favorite teacher 🤗
Hugging you so much, Vikki! Thank you for this lovely and uplifting comment! I'm super happy that this little video will help you with your beautiful Ametrines too! Enjoy! I do have a few more deep facet settings, not for square or rectangle but you can also see Dahli for a deep faceted heart stone and a nice bale idea! The bale part should work for your bale wires if you set the body in prong like this video. Have fun!
Thanks, Teresa! I can't see it as PTJ for some reason from my business page but I can see it as Izzy, my personal page, so I made a comment as Izzy... beautiful work on that pendant and that stone is a stunner! Great job and thanks for the tag!
So sorry you had to go through this. It was so beautiful! Please do show us the remake when you’ve finished it. There’s just no accounting for taste, is there?
Hi Elizabeth, I did put a notice up but then I had to down that first live and redo with this one because I had mic issues the first time... I apologize again, I'm not sure if anyone got a second notice since I had to stop and restart the stream. I will get better. See you soon for Membership Livestream, I hope! xox
Good morning, Dale! I use standard chains... I like 1.5mm ball chain (I have 2 videos showing how to do the ends) and for silver and gold pieces, I like 1.5mm Box Chain (they come already finished)... I find that the standard comfortable size for pendants is 22 to 24 inches (then you can add a 2 inch extender if they want longer)... Please feel free to ask this in Livestream today or tomorrow if you are attending, we can chat more about it and I do have source links in previous videos for where to get the chain... I can also send you the links after Livestream. I hope that helps for now!
Had to stop 50 minutes into your wonderful video and drop a line😁 Great advice on the mineral show suject❤ I live in Tucson and always go to the Gem and mineral shows around town every February 😍 It's not only an absolute feast for the eyes and soul but so much fun talking to people from all over the world and learning about what they're selling. I shop and gaze till I drop😂 You definitly inspired me to go around to local rock shops and have some conversation and drop some buisness cards. Great suggestion ❤ Also want to thank you for all you share🤗🙏🏻😘
Thank you, Renee! I appreciate your kind and thoughtful comment very much! I think you should do that! Local rock shops and shows are some of the best, you get to know the 'local' human or family behind that business and sometimes, those turn into the best relationships for mutually supportive business! Thanks again for watching! xoxo
Surely as a business, you have to charge for the labour and materials that have gone thru this process. I am gutted for you. That opal is awesome 🤩. Cant she draw what she is seeing if she an artist, so you have better guidance. I am so sorry 😢
Thanks, Nikki, this is a one and only rare time, so I thought it was a good experience to share. Yes, we were planning a few more sketching sessions before the build, but my relationship here in household is breaking up, so that took us off course with this 'idea' to let her design the piece. She is a long-time customer/friend, so she was the single exception I've ever made to give customer the design option, but this type of thing can still happen, so I thought it might help new artists to know, it can happen. Thanks again!
What a fabulous video! That was so so informative! TYSM! You’re truly my favorite artist! Thank you for sharing your expertise with us. You’re so right about knowing yourself too- I have recently started accepting custom orders and I have found myself in a pickle with only two customers so far that wanted me to remake my design so I ended up losing one bc I was unable to bring her thoughts to fruition but on the second one I was successful and made the sale! I was afraid at first but now I find the challenges make me feel way more confident afterwards and it really helps build my skill set as you said! I have been doing this only for two years but I do love it although my arthritis not so much lol😂I also do a little leather work and I combine my wire work into that- I am curious what your thoughts are regarding insurance or getting registered with an LLC? I imagine it’s important especially if you’re taking ppls personal stones- My goodness you’ve got my brain going lol😂Thank you again so much🙏 I just love your vibe and how you teach and definitely will be joining your private group/community soon ❤ You Rock! 😉
Wow, thank you!! Congratulations on the recent commissions and grace to you for handling the 'one' who you couldn't work with... it's a talent also, to celebrate yourself and the commission that did work out to be a happy sale! Double congratulations on that one!! It's a great learning experience and now you've had it happen, so you're set, moving forward into your career, we learn with each one. Much love! I am excited to see you in Membership sometime in our future! Meantime, I am grateful you are here and enjoying my channel! xoxo Thank you again so much!
