Muy mal. Se trabaja a lo bestia. Si quieres no tener vida pues vete allí. Otra cosa es que necesites aprender inglés durante uno o dos años. Entonces está bien si no tienes otra opción.
Está bien para gente joven igualmente, o que no tenga familia y le apetezca irse un año a aprender inglés. Pero currar se curra muchísimo. Casi mejor irse de au pair y trabajar solo en tardes por ej...pagan casi igual.

Hello! Do you have to move back home in-between school years? Or can you reapply, stay in Spain, renew your visa and teach where you are relocated to (if not in the same region). I believe there is a 5-year limit. Additionally, My fiancé and I discovered this program early in the year and plan on applying. We would love to be placed in the same region and live together. Is it possible to be placed in the same region consecutively and/ or be transferred to a new one together? Thanks!

I strongly agree with bringing board games where english features heavily, maybe a baseball or deflated football you can pump up and present to class, and small costume accessories. Besides Halloween there are several other holidays and special occassions where the staff dresses up. Also agree with bringing english books and movies as they are a specialty item here. Basketball is common here. Bring warm weather clothing and plan to buy used winter clothing locally. Do not bring hair dryers, curlers, electric shavers or anything that produces heat. But device chargers will work fine with usa/eu wall adapters. Before you buy anything here, try to buy used from last years outgoing auxes. Some remain behind for 90 days after the end of school in June.
Things that are not common here are hot sauces and spices, and anything to do with cream. That doesn’t mean that it doesn’t exist here but it may take you several months of searching before you find them, especially if you have a preference for particular brands (Cholula, Franks). For Mexican cooking ingredients ie tomatillo, chile de arbol I had to order them from a company in Spain. Spain and EU Amazon does not have all the products that USA Amazon has. The only things I truly miss are coarse ground coffee, soy creamers, dr pepper and dill pickle sandwich slices. The pickles here are of a small variety and contain sugar. The chips are bland and the soda selection is extremely limited (hope you like Fanta!). Capitan Mani Peanut Butter is good, and so is Hellmans Vegana mayo. The deodorants are fine, I’ve gotten used to spray-on Axe Leather and Cookies lol. Cancer-causing ingredients in deodorant and food are banned in EU. Only the newest, most popular international shows and movies have English languages options on streaming services. In big cities the movie theaters do commonly have English showings with Spanish subtitles. Housing in big cities is by far a much more difficult hurdle than these lucky students experienced. Landlords and agents are not to be trusted! It is illegal for agents to charge you a fee but they commonly will insist on one equal to a months rent. They commonly take advantage of foreigners and students since they are unlikely to fight for their deposit back or denounce them for illegal fees. Spaniards do not respond to messages through apps or typically return voicemails, emails, and often don’t bother with whatsapp. You will have to make calls in Spanish during working hours. Additionaly, there is a renters insurance often required and foreigners do not qualify. For this reason in major cities I cannot recommend idealista. You’re better off walking neighborhoods that you like and having a Spanish speaker call numbers on signs posted. Word-of-mouth in the community and the assistance of your coordinator are your best bet. Getting an appointment to take your prints for TIE is also much much harder than you’re being led to believe. It is similar to getting your VISA appointment at the consulate in USA. Folks are using paid apps and services to get them.
