Weta Digital closed, was a subsidary of Unity that used Wetas engine/software tools. Unity closed down Weta digital because it wasn't "profitable". Weta FX is still going
Too bad it was too expensive to keep going… a second season would have been great. But practical effects are way too expensive., and cgi just wouldn’t have felt right.
It is a shame. But I'm just glad we got the season that we did. Close to 10 hours of world class practical effects and puppetry. In today's film industry that is a truly extraordinary thing!
I agree 100%. Weta have always had a problem with human likeness in their sculpts. Often they seem to go for evoking the feel of a character rather than basing it on the actor I feel. I still do love the piece regardless!
Thanks! I absolutely love it. The level of detail is incredible. The sculpt and paintwork going into making each of the different fabrics on his costume is mind boggling. Hope you get yours soon!
