The University of Aberdeen Chamber Choir is an auditioned choir comprising students and recent alumni of the University of Aberdeen. The choir specialises in contemporary music and also works closely with young conductors. They have worked with many distinguished composers including James MacMillan, Judith Weir and Morten Lauridsen, and many great conductors including Stephen Layton, Christopher Bell, James Jordan, Michael Zaugg and Ralph Allwood. They regularly tour and have visited many places including Northern Ireland, The USA, and Poland.
The Chamber Choir was delighted to sing for Her Majesty The Queen at Buckingham Palace, and for Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall at a private concert in the University of Aberdeen’s Music Department.
Pressure within the brain, Tension at the throat, Deluge, weeks of rain, Haystacks afloat, Featureless seas between hedges, Where once was green, Love's as fierce as fire, Love is fire: All sorts infernal hear, and pride, Lyric desire, when denied, And that empty flame, Whence all loves came. Love's as fresh as spring, Love is spring. Love's as hard as nails, Love is nails. Blunt, thick, hammered through the medial nerves of One Who, having made us knew The thing He had done, Seeing (with all that is) Our Cross, And His. - C.S. Lewis
I first saw this performed at Merton College chapel in the winter of 2013, on the 50th anniversary of CS Lewis's death. A more beautiful live performance I have never experienced. Than you for sharing this equally wonderful rendition.
