Shame, I was hoping you'd discovered your skip scene misconception after you seemed to be skipping everything, but yeah - the truth is that every non battle scene is skippable. But the scene skip check isn't an always active thing in the events. It runs the check at the start of the event, about a second after every dialogue box closes, and after every camera movement. I honestly need to go and edit the Cross Skip functionality so it also works with Start - while scene skipping works fine if holding X and Start, it didn't seem to be as intuitive a combo as I'd hoped.
Haha, I noticed a while before Bariaus Valley that you'd stripped her. This actually came up during beta testing, too! I ended up learning how to allow Missing units to be changed specifically because of this. Glad to see it helped here!
Getting good use out of Cancel Movement and Refund Abilities in this one. Loved the initial reaction to seeing the Luso battle with all those monsters on the field before they started attacking each other!
Hey man ! I've been following you for the past month and waiting for every new seeds hahaha. I Would like to try it too ! Can you explain how to get the randomizers ? I've got the game .smc but after that I don't know hahaha. Thanks a lot
Thanks for that, I appreciate it. As for the randomizer, you can get it from the SoM Randomizer discord -> discord.gg/RYxEJYEU and then go to Announcements. The link to the latest version is the on the last post there. Now that you mention that, I probably should go back through each video and add the discord link.
It does. Enemies get more max MP as they level up and it also depends on how hard their stat scaling is set to and where they show up. The only enemies that have unlimited MP are the slime bosses and the Mana Beast, and there is a setting in the randomizer where you can give all enemies unlimited MP if you really wanted to.
Does this Rando have a "no free items" type flag like in Free Enterprise or Worlds Collide. a flag where progression is locked behind bosses and other key Items. I heard you mention the restrictive logic, where pedestals are seed locked, but can it get worse?
There is no flag like that. These seeds can certainly be much worse in other ways via other flags, but none that lock progression. The closest thing to that is probably the hard complexity flag where progression certainly can be locked behind other items, or locked items where some items just don't exist in the seed, but it will never generate an unbeatable seed. It can do things like take Undine out of a seed so you can't use healing magic with the girl, or Shade out of a seed so you can't use against Mana Beast, etc.
@chocosura its always interesting to see each dev team's approach to how to add complexity. The ff1 rando is so nuanced that you can turn off individual check locations, ban specific items, and even put key items in generic treasure boxes (not just the ones guarded by encounter tiles). FF6 Worlds Collide, since there really aren't key items, uses character gating, where all the check spots are locked behind the characters they are associated with (Phantom Forest with Sabin, Phunbaba fights with Terra, Magitek Factory with Celes etc) each character having 1-5 checks, and you starting with 1-4 characters. Same goes with character stuff. Free Enterprise just swaps, bans, forces and re-colors characters, but Edge is Edge. Mana seems to have forced and banned characters and ability swaps. Worlds Collide can re-sprite and change abilities and equipment lists. Even limiting what character can use what esper (and what the espers do). Imagine Boy using Shade, but shade teaches Wall, Cure Water and Lava Wave (but the spells still trigger shade orbs and is shade element)
@@Lightman0359 Yeah, I've played all of those randos in the past. I played Free Enterprise for around 4 years or so until the tournaments started to get pretty dull and retired out of competitive play. I had some fun with FF1 Rando, but haven't played it for a very long time and WC I tried to get into a few times, but I found it quite intimidating and confusing on what flags did what. I haven't kept up with any of the recent changes to any of those randos.
@chocosura Free Enterprise was where I found you. I wanna say around Zemus Zone 2, I saw a bunch of races with you and ended up watching your screen the most. While I don't do competition, I used to run worlds collide alot, even made a flagset with the FF4 characters emulated as best I could using FF6 mechanics (including thematically as far as checks and such). I got a few vids of that silliness up on here
For hints, do you write them down or just remember them? If you write them down, for speed and re-usability I recommend a dry-erase grid. Since the hints seem to be the same: In a House, in a Chest, treasury, early/mid/late game, cave, underwater, forgotten land, volcano, boss locations etc; you could make a grid with the key items/characters/magic/gold on one axis, and the hints on the other [with highlighter lines every other row/column to make visual tracking easier], then cover it with clear matte finish packing tape. This gives you a dry erase board to track the hints with a slash and x it out when you complete it. Use black or blue marker, because red for some reason [more acidic I think] stains the tape]. I do this when playing D&D, the dry erase thing, for maps, HP, initiative, and anything else that changes often but has a format [just print the format and laminate]
56:45 And I thought Pogopuschel was only used in the German translation. I guess the names are randomised too. Poor little Rabbites. Edit: Just ignore me, the Ewoks and Sneks somehow got past me. 😅
For anyone who might be wondering why choco here only uses the "vertical" stake instead of trying to use the horizontal... IIRC the horizontal one in this hack is fake. It doesn't actually pound down when you ground pound it., and thus can't do damage to Raphael.
1) Why Feinne only deals 2500 dmg on first turn? I have Feinne on frontline, and she start with 7500 dmg. Team : Feinne, thlly es, Suzette and Aldo ( 2 shadow/2 light units) 2) When I try changing my team, she deals 2500 dmg but still using sea of star zone. So I cannot AF. Team: Feinne, jifunny, hismena alt, felmina es(4 shadow team) 3) But when I try your team. She only deals 2500 dmg and not casting the zone. Team: Feinne, tsukiha alt, aisha, tsukiha ns (2 shadow/ 2lights)
1) Are you entering the battle with a full AF bar? Because that's why she's doing 7500 at the start. You do know that Feinne's (the boss Feinne) passive fixed damage is based on how much AF bar you have, right? I tried just now with the same team, and she does only 2,500. 2) Again, gotta read passive abilites - Feinne AS's SA has a passive (which I assume you've learned already) where if you have 3+ Light or 3+ Shadow units, she deploys Sea of Stars zone. Which is why... 3) ...Feinne doesn't use Sea of Stars because the passive condition isn't fulfilled here. Also why she didn't use it in 1)'s case - because: (2 light + 2 shadow) Short version: Don't come in with full AF bar, and don't use Sea of Stars zone here.
I like how you use remedy as a 1 mana counterspell. I have a feeling that being underleveled gives you a lower hit % against the bosses defence, so you have to rely on luck a little more when hitting the boss is critical, like when he is spamming energy absorb on you.
That, plus bosses have evasion as well, so that doesn't help matters either. I'm actually thinking about redoing this run soon because I might be able to finish at an even lower level.
Look at you walking around gia's navel with 2 hp and no armor. Talk about living on the edge. All those glitches you did were pretty cool, and I'm glad I found your channel.
For Alma, it can, but without SA, Alma then either has to Lunatic and lose counter status, or wait until turn 5 to get High Alchemic state again, and turn 4 is where most of the damage happens for this strat. As for Melissa, for this strat, not really because she needs to refresh awakened crystal zone. I mean, you could theoretically use either Dewey Alter or Tsukiha Alter or Kuchinawa, but then again, Alma loses damage because of no bow grasta slave, and in Kuchinawa's case, he needs enhanced SA to extend zone. Could also probably give Melissa Pierce Zone grasta and have Myunfa Alter awaken it on turn 4 perhaps. Bottom line, Alma will lose damage either way.
I had a hard time finding that one, too. Basically, you go back to area 5 of Proto Eden and go to Lab Division 5. Go to the room on the bottom right and you'll find what you need.
So, if you go to the Darkrealm Village, then take the southern exit to the Treeline, then head for the southeast exit. If you see Kuchinawa standing there, you're in the right place. Go to the right a bit and you'll find the scale which will allow you to challenge the superboss, and you'll also clear that node on the astral archive, too.
I am quite happy you enjoyed the mod. It was something I worked on for a while with no experience before I jumped in. I just love FFT and I wanted to tinker with it. If it landed this well, I'm quite pleased. I never reached a state where I felt the mod was complete, but watching this game played from a different perspective goes a long way to helping me think about how I want to approach some things. I'll definitely be doing another pass on the jobs, including ones I left alone before. Those text bugs/inconsistencies (to say nothing of those Deep Dungeon softlocks) are indeed annoying, and I apologize. I'll be going through the text again and hopefully get those fixed for the next update. I appreciate the in depth feedback, and I'm looking forward to finally getting back to updating this mod, hopefully for the better.
I never would have thought my romhack would make it to RU-vid! I was recommended your video on my feed and I did a double take. I just started your first video and I'll be working my way through. I hope you've enjoyed it. Or at least that it wasn't too terrible. :) Real Life hit me and I haven't been able to get back to finish. There are a lot of encounters that I still wanted to update. I'm still not fully on board with where I have the balance, because it's pretty easy to break this game. Then again, that's a lot of the fun. Looking forward to seeing these videos.
Hello, there. I've mostly enjoyed this romhack and I had a fun time playing it. I've finished the playthrough a while back, I just need to upload the last few videos (actually, this one and the last 20+ were part of a mass upload that I did back in December - I just set them to be public on different days). I also have a special review video ready that I'm going to put up at the end once I'm finished which has all of my personal thoughts, criticisms, feedback, positives and negatives, etc, about the mod. Real life stuff can't be avoided, and is what it is, so definetly take care of that first and foremost.
@@chocosura Watching your playthrough has me motivated to get back into it. I see there are still quite a few grammatical errors, and I want to give it a run through to see where I can get the balance. I do appreciate you being an unofficial balance tester. :)
im really enjoying this mod, but im having massive glitches in the menus setting. not sure if its the emulator or the patch job i did. and when i try to access the same menu it locks up the game.
