If you listen when Arya is walking away you hear a metal sword clang to the ground.I would reckon Syrio actually beat Trant and then proceeded to escape.Trant probably just lied about it and escaped back to Braavos
I believe he isnt dead. Even the hound made a remark in the later seasons when Arya says he was killed by ser meryn and the hound laughs because ser meryn wasn't very good. Also we do not see what unfolds through her exit too, only screams and shadows.
It's left to the imagination how this fight concluded, but it always sounded to me like Trant's sword lands on the ground, before there is a tussle and a few screams of pain, but it's hard to determine from whom. It also sounds like more men enter the room. So my guess is that Forel disarms Trant rather painfully before back up arrives and slashes Forel to pieces.
Holy shit this series was good. How did they mess it up so badly 😂😭 Basically every character arc got destroyed, including Arya's, who was rushed to be new champion of the whole saga as Jon's destiny was predicted by the fans and D&D wanted to GrEaT sOmEThInG NeW
I think Syrio is alive. Meryn Trant is not praised for his swordsmanship, and Syrio quite literally just 1 v 5’d his enemy with not just a wooden sword but with actual martial arts. The fact that its left up to interpretation makes me think that he did survive.
"Meryn f*cking Trant!" In the books, Forel takes out the guard quite brutally: broken noses, shattered larynxes and I am quite certain some of them died right there.
4 trained Lannister soldiers getting their asses handed to em by a guy with a wooden sword & someone who they only saw as a “dancing master” & “foreign b*****d”. Typical overconfident behavior from antogists
I had hoped throughout the series that he had somehow survived by picking up one of the swords on the ground and would reappear. It was not meant to be.
Although it's implied and he's never seen again - I'd say his death isn't confirmed since it's off screen. Implied, yes, but not confirmed - his fate is a mystery. At least in this version of GoT.
The mystery of how Syrio managed to fight off 4 armed guys, fighting all of them simultaneously, but somehow didn't manage to take Meryn Fucking Trant, is now lost to history and will never be resolved.
Characters like him are the reason why i loved the starks and why they were crucial to their survival. Syrio taught her to be quick, to be attentive, and saved her from being captured. Sandor protected sansa from joffrey by advising her to play along, saved her from rapists, and even protected arya and taught her too.
