Have you shot with a Canon Ftb? Shares a lot of similarities to the F1 but is even more basic and fully manual. They're readily available on the cheap and built like tanks. I would really like an F-1 but prices have shot up quite a bit.

"the cost of living isn't going to suck your soul", if you visit it for a week. Tourism has increased the prices to the point that it's almost impossible to find a flat to rent for locals. 9 out of 10 properties that are out for renting, are aimed to temporary rentals for tourists. Hopefuly things will change in 2025 with the new proposed regulation.
@nicarnold
@nicarnold 21 день назад
„The cost of living for tourists“ I should have clarified. I am very well aware of the current situation in Spain and the rising movement calling out mass tourism. Sadly gentrification is a worldwide phenomenon though and even I am suffering from it in my own city. Long discussion, wrong channel.

It has a certain brutalism to how it functions. It feels like a solid chunk of glass, brass, steel and leather. I've taken mine to anime cons and the like for cosplay stuff. If only because it's an amusing diversion for people compared to the big chattering DSLR's. It's a chance to use it the way it was intended to be used - and it'll still slam through a few rolls of film an hour if it absolutely has to. It's kind of like using a steam-train for excursions. I've fitted it with an motor-drive. I also have some of the accessories for it - like the databack and the "auto-exposure" flash equipment. It is a wonderful, satisfying, tactile thing to operate in a way that modern cameras aren't.

Thanks for the 30 min. relaxing cup of coffee, ever so slowly getting colder for each zip, with the taste evolving to more and more fruity notes as the temperature drops. Probably the best Brazilian coffee I've come across, EHh yes photos 😁😁 I was never much of a black and white photographer, started with Instamatic as a 7 year old, and have followed the technical journey, up to my Sony A7II. But I can absolutely appreciate the fondness of loosing time and space inside the darkroom for a couple of hours. I use my the garage for the same type of therapeutic sessions, or an aimless drive in one of my old BMWs.
