Hello and welcome to our channel! We are Tori and Nathan and one of our biggest passions in life is travel. We hope that through our channel we can inspire you to travel - no matter what stage of life you're in.
Thank you for sharing your mistakes. I am sure you realize that we all make mistakes when we are traveling especially if you are visiting somewhere for the 1st time. Planning a trip to Iceland but not exactly sure when. Thinking of renting a motorhome when visiting Iceland for my 21 yr old daughter and I her dad. So all your tips are very helpful.
"I picked the full option vs. I paid 125$ for filling my tank full and I forgot to print my receipt. - It read my card - I filled my card -I pulled out my nozzle - I put back the nozzle - It printed the receipt - I took the receitp - I looked at the receipt - then I went as a Wolf of Wallstreet - thought the James bond movei it was 125$. Sorry man this is what is means for communication to be concise.
Thanks for create and share. I'm agree with all you say about things to do and not to save money, but I really like the hard punishment Iceland make on speed limit because I think we are not fully aware of how it looks like an accident on 90 to 100 km/hr, and for sure, you say "there's nobody there" and yes, I believe you 100% but you need only one mistake in your whole life to experience that. Anyway, thanks for everything!
Please change the title to something more accurate. The mistakes you made were not the things you talked about. All happened because you were americaning in Europe. Americaning = being ignorant and uninformed (in this case while travelling). For people who actually try to go low budget in iceland this video is nonsense. During the summer it is perfectly possible to travel by public transport. THIS will safe you all the dimes (and the world, as it is burning, due to all the americaning in the world). If you want to go by car, go during winter months.
That's how it always works, everywhere. What's the problem? At every automatic filling station. Whether Iceland, Scotland or Portugal. It can even happen when you book a hotel. It's also displayed on my bank account. It then says "Reserved". It can take a few days for the correct amount to be debited.
If you are driving at 100-110 km/h you are definitely not enjoying the incredible landscape .Every summer in Iceland somebody dies in a car accident often a tourist
People don't inform themselves enough when travelling and later end up having bad experiences. Knowledge of other countries practices and rules save you a lot of headaches and money.
I know this is four years ago, but the hip hop drum track in the back is very distracting. That and the echo. Other than that, solid information. Especially the parking lot/ parking pass.
So this is how all the wrong information about the gas pumps is spread. As others wrote, it's just a deposit and the charge will be adjusted to what you actually put into your tank in a few days. You end your transaction by putting the nozzle back into the pump, person after you cant use your credit. Met some people that, seeing videos like this, believed they wont get any money back. So they, being on motorbikes, started filling up coke bottles and whatnot to not "waste" any money. Which is both really dangerous and unnecessary.
Heh so the high penalties do end up working (since after you strictly followed the speed limit) Last year when we were there, we were driving in the volcano area and the road felt like it should be 50-70 km/h but they had signs posted as 20-30 😬 I was driving so slow with a line of cars behind me but no way did I want a ticket.
You can just put the pump back and pick it up again and see if it works. It should stop after you put it back and what you described weird and never heard about someone refilling car on someones bill also it takes bigger amount as a save deposit and you should be refunded this 125 and be charged only for the gas you take, It may take some time to be refunded but you probably were refunded. Also about seating in a police car after speeding is not a thing it depends on officer I guess. I sat only once in a police car while getting a ticket.
