The Ocean Racing Club of Victoria (ORCV) is a leading authority on ocean sailing, racing and training in Australia.
The club was formed so that ocean races in Victorian waters could be efficiently developed and run by an organisation focusing specifically on the needs of ocean racers and sailors. We function as a non-profit organisation, which draws its membership from all of the major yacht clubs in Victoria, but do not compete with other yacht clubs by operating a clubhouse or marina facility.
The ORCV was formed as the Cruising Yacht Club of Victoria by a group of yachtsmen in 1949 and renamed in 1972. The ORCV was incorporated in 1986. The ORCV is an Organising Authority of Category 1, 2 and 3 ocean races and a Yachting Australia Training Centre (YATC) with five YA accredited Yachtmaster Offshore and Safety & Sea Survival Course Instructors.
The ORCV is a member club of Yachting Victoria, with affiliations to Yachting Australia and the International Sailing Federation.
I only found out that iPads without a SIM card slot do not contain a GPS after I’d left to sail across the Atlantic so make sure if using an iPad it has a SIM card slot. Even the Apple Store crew were not aware 🙈
Boats have all different types of power, depending on the owner preferences. Might be 240V, might be 115V, might be just 12V. There are Rainman watermakers for all options.
Great instructional video. Just turn up the volume, watch and listen. Am I correct in assuming you can just fill the bucket direct from the rainman to pickle the system? ie: Use filtered water, add chemicals, and pickle the system?
Thanks. Yes, that is correct. Make about 10 litres of fresh water and use that water to flush the system. Add a few tablespoons of the pickling solution for long term storage.
Yes. Brackish water contains salt. Freshwater will work also but it is far more energy efficient to just filter freshwater rather than using reverse osmosis.
