Hi! I`m assuming you mean grams per square meter of fabric (GSM)? For wool, I don`t remember exactly, but I think it was around 300-ish grams, so I`d say a medium weight for wool. Cotton can work if you don`t mind the texture - wools that I tend to use for this kind of garments often have a "fuzzy" surface, even though they are usually of tabby or twill weave. For cotton, only special fabrics like flannel have this kind of fuzzy finish. But other than that, yes, 350g should work fine - it will have some nice "body" and "fullness to it". Just remember to properly finish the seams, as the cotton in my experience tends to fray more than wool. For lining - 140g is a bit light for me, I prefer about 180-200 g usually, 140g is what I would use for a very light, puffy insert for the sleeves.

nie mam teraz pod ręką tej halabardy, ale o ile dobrze pamiętam, to 6 mm na główną część żeleźcca, a profil kwadratowy który przerobiłem na mocowanie drzewca miał ścianki grubości 2 mm. W moim odczuciu te 6 mm to było za dużo, halabarda wyszła dość ciężka i przynajmniej na moje potrzeby czystko pokazowe (nie używam jej do faktycznej walki) to spokojnie bym mógł zejść do 5 lub nawet 4 mm.

Thanks! First one is difficult to give exact answer - I've been involved in reenactment and larping for a few years now, so I'm rather used to wearing long sleeve wool in something like 25 deg. C. This particular outfit is rather nice thanks to many slashes, making it quite "airy". Also, lining made from actual linen does help a great deal (whatever happens, avoid synthetics like fire in this type of clothing). But it can get warm if you run and fight a lot. For sleeves: the inner most layer is there to keep puffs in place and shape, if you skip that, the entire sleeve will constantly slide down your arm and be a nuissance. If you are worried about heat, go for very thin fabric for puff "stuffing" and relatively thin inner sleeve (but thicker than puffs so it doesn't gry stretched too much). Same for wool, go for thinnest non-transparent stuff you can find.

Thanks! I don`t have just one source of fabric, since wool (at least here in Poland) is rather expensive, so I tend to keep my eyes open and wait for good opportunities. I`ve had some success with buying fabrics from people who normally supply reenactors and sell their stuff through facebook, but that can be a very slippery slope, as often I would buy fabric just based on photos and the info I got from the seller. In general though, I do get most of my fabric online, but then again I almost never buy more than a few meters, so even if it ends up poor quality, I just stash it for some less important project.

Po pierwsze, najważniejsze moim zdaniem to dobrać jak najlepiej kolor nici do sznurka - mi się poszczęściło i kolor nici i sznurka jest w zasadzie identyczny. A tak to w tym stroju przyszyłem sznurek na dwa różne sposoby - od 31:07 widać kawałek ujęcia jak przyszywam na maszynie, jest to oczywiście szybsza metoda, maszynę ustawiłem na "zygzak" z wyregulowaną szerokością tak, by igła wchodziła w materiał z obu stron sznurka lub zaraz na krawędzi sznurka. Oczywiście z bardzo bliska widać nić na sznurku jak się przyjrzeć, więc jest tak ważne żeby kolor był praktycznie taki sam, wtedy już np. z 1 metra jest to nie do odróżnienia. Druga metoda to ręcznie, schodzi się z tym oczywiście dłużej, ale da się to zrobić tak, by było jeszcze mniej widoczne, ciężko mi to dokładnie opisać, ale mniej więcej chodziło o to, że szyłem przez środek sznurka, przebijając się igłą przez sam sznurek, używając ściegu za igłą.

What I`ve started doing some time after posting this video is to mark the hole for drilling with a center punch before shaping. Don`t know how well will drilling actual holes will work, as they can get misaligned during shaping, but it could work just fine, haven`t tried it myself.

W paru miejscach popękało - w przypadku zastosowania jako palenisko kowalskie to nie ma z tym większego problemu, bo po prostu używam go dalej w takiej formie i te pęknięcia w niczym nie przeszkadzają, ale w piecu do pizzy to już by mogło być problematyczne, szczególnie gdyby coś miało się zacząć sypać na pizzę :/ więc w tym wypadku lepszym pomysłem mogą być cegły szamotowe czy nawet gotowe płyty szamotowe.

I had made that halberd mainly as a prop for photos and videos, so it`s not even sharp. So that stump would have probably resisted quite well - much to my embarrasment! :P
