Thank you, Dr. Cecchini! I used to be an observer at UH while I was in graduate school at Western. Last year of residency at Tufts MC and so good to see you make these high-yield videos.
Hello Dr, my dear father is in the hospital. He's 77 yo. He was admitted to the hosp a month ago w complications from COVID. He was d/c after 3 days. He continued with a lingering, persistent cough. Re-admitted after coughing up blood. He had an aneurysm in his left lower lobe, and pneumonia. He ended up having a lobectomy of the left lower lobe. We thought he would come home, but they found something wrong. When I read the MD notes, they've sent the sample to the Mayo Clinic. It says COVID vs organized pneumonia. If it is OP, what is the treatment? What is the course of the disease?
Depends on the resection if it was completely removed . Most probably not but if the resection was incomplete then yes radiotherapy or chemotherapy might be needed

Thank you for this. I had DAD this past January, & they couldn't find a cause for it. I was dx'd w/ organizing pneumonia, I had all the symptoms of COVID, but I kept testing negative for COVID. So, for a month, they gave me higher doses & stronger/more broad spectrum antibiotics. When I was finally admitted to the hospital, my lungs were so damaged that a walk from my hospital bed to the toilet took me down to 78% O2 saturation. My biopsy apparently showed no viral activity, fungal activity, or aspiration debris. I was sent home w/O2 & Prednisone. The O2 was my constant companion for 5 mos, & The Prednisone for 8. It's been almost a year since I first got sick, & I'm alive, & had a clear pulmonologist visit today.
@@tilwedie23 Yes, and yes. Sometimes, for no identifiable reason, my O2 levels just drop to 90 or below. If I get any respiratory illness, they do the same.
