Hello I’m tackling this exact same job atm and have been told I need to bench bleed the master cylinder before installing it? Did you do this? Also how do I remove the rod from the pedal to the booster at the booster end? I think you said it just unscrews? Thanks for sharing this video it’s very helpful!!
Yes the pedal rod just unscrews. You can adjust the length a bit, but I left mine the same length as it was when I took it off and it works fine. I did not bench bleed the master cylinder as i had to bleed the entire system anyways and was sure any air would get pushed out during bleeding.
Honestly i got a little lost on the math. You had 10 thousands play. If you added 5 thousands you would have 5 thousands play. If you wanted 3 thousands play wouldn't you and 7 thousands? You said 8 thousands
Looks great! I purchased a new 1974 model identical to yours. Our two girls were young and as a family, we made many great memories traveling and camping throughout the U.S. and U.K..
Nice story about John and good for you on giving the gift of that one last ride in the van just a few months ago. He is likely very pleased it went to someone who treats it so special.
I appreciate the inspection plate comment! I started seeing a ton of oil coming out of mine over this winter (Im in PA). What's above that plate? Anything special I need to do besides taking out the 2 bolts and replacing the O-ring? I'm somewhat new into this & tracking down oil leaks. Any chance you could provide a link the to O-ring you used for this area?
Hi there. Replacing the o ring is as simple as removing the two bolts and carefully removing the cover plate using a tiny pick or screwdriver. If your o ring is torn or damaged like mine, you need to find a replacement. I couldn’t find one to buy separately, so I called CIP1 and asked if they had any spare type 4 engine seal kits that were returned and if they would sell me just the o ring. They were happy to help me. You may have similar luck with other VW vendors, so call around.
@@curiousdude3196 Got it! I'll call CiP1 today! I definitely have a leak from there and it's just getting worse. I just wasn't sure if I could pop the plate off and not have a ton of oil come out. lol I guess my question is, can I take it out without draining the oil?
@@curiousdude3196 So, I called CiP1 - they had no idea wat I was talking about. lol I even called it the Taco Plate as it's sometimes referred to. No luck with Cip1 but I did get a new O-ring for it from a seller on ebay. It had the same part number as the German Supply ones too. Hopefully it's the right one (it's orange in color and looks to be the right size). I'm changing out my oil this week, so plan on tackling everything before I get it out for Spring time!
GOOD FOR YOU MAN..i sold a 72 fast back with a 351c back in the day before i bought foxes..and turns out the car got restored and shipped by boat over seas somewhere..no chance to relive that..even though i love a fox the 72 woulda been one hella car to ride around in..(even though it was slow and road like a boat lol)..........

Greetings from Calgary! Looking forward to see the transformation of your car. I am a long time Foxbody owner. I have a 92 5.0 LX that I've owned since May of '94. If you get it up and running for the summer of 2024 maybe think about bringing it to Calgary on the Labor Day weekend this Sept for The International Mustang Meet. You maybe aware that that meet was in Saskatoon in 2022, it should be a great event.
Great story. I regretted selling my emerald green lx but it was showing its age and problems so I sold it. 15 years later, I bought a 90gt and I really enjoy the car but it always needs something. Looking forward to your progress.
@@curiousdude3196MY FIRST MUSTANG GT I BOUGHT BACK IN THE 90S WAS MY 87 MUSTANG GT AND I WILL NEVER SELL IT AND I HAVE A VIBRANT RED 93 COBRA THAT IS ALL ORIGINAL EXCEPT FOR EXHAUST AND IT HAS 22 THOUSAND ORIGINAL MILES.
Wow it is so amazing to see one of these again! We had one in a store in Summerside, Prince Edward Island. I remember when I was a small girl being amazed watching the little box going back and forth.
Hey, any chance you can take a photo of how you mounted the bell crank? I think I have it in the right place but when I try to connect the left linkage arm it is too long. I can't find any photos online. Thank you.
I have looked through old video and pictures and I can’t find any to share. However, I did have the same issue you have with one arm being too long. I had to carefully double nut and cut one or both linkage arms to get them the correct length. Sounds like you are having the same issue. If you bought the kit from CB, give them a call, as they will k ow for sure too.
@@curiousdude3196 Thanks for getting back to me. I did find a photo on The Samba and I am installing the bell crank correctly. Looks like I have to cut the linkage arm as well. And possibly extend the throttle cable! Thanks again.
