I've always felt like there is so much more beyond just what we see with video games, and how they can affect and change our lives. I also have a passion for game design and breaking things down, and analyzing why things are done in certain ways. I want to have a deeper conversation about these things, as well as create a place where people can talk about the games they are most passionate about, without being attacked or feeling the need to defend their opinion.
Reality Escape is mainly an essay channel, some videos more on the personal side, most on the analysis side. Sometimes Its just about one game, sometimes about a series, sometimes about a concept. It's simply my brain at work. I talk about whatever I want to talk about at that time.

It’s honestly a shame this series never got modern console releases since the two N64 entries are underrated classics and are way better than the DS entry.
Watching this I cannot help but think of The Denial of Death by Ernest Becker and how 4 of the 5 bosses still engage in immorality projects despite their long lives, which seems to have been gained through or by the projects.
You should 100% look into both the 'Creeper World' series and the 'Defense Grid' series. (That being Defense Grid: The Awakening / Defense Grid 2" Both of those series are bangers.
I feel like, at least in my experience, incremental games with less UI are more interesting, with more work put into their mechanics and balancing, and even though they are not clicker games, you really need to be active to play them, unlike many mindless clicker games where you could just afk with an auto clicker.
I've watched 30 min of your video and still dont know what makes clicker games good.... you basically described a lot of different clicker/idle games and how they work.. what a waste of time
Finally, after like 2 weeks, I'm finally done watching the video & what an amazing video this was. Really felt nostalgic looking back at some of the handhelds that I had played as a kid, interested with the games that I've never played but overall just a newfound level of sheer amazement & appreciation towards the developers who were trying to see how far they can stretch the limitations of the system they had worked on, whether it worked for the better or not. While this era of gaming is now far behind us as this new age of handheld consoles are ever trying to reach the same levels as their console or pc counterparts & that should by itself be an achievement of itself, I do agree with you in the outro that it was with those limitations that "held back" those handheld consoles of the past had forced these developers to think outside the box, to innovate & adapt instead to these limitations to work in their favour & we may never see such innovation ever again.
If you ever wanna play a psp fps, play it on the vita, you can reassign the look buttons to the dpad and make the right stick mirror the dpad (atleast on a hacked vita, which youd basically have to use nowadays)
4:38:39 Super Paper Mario actually has an extreme version of this exact thing, Merlon asks if you want to save the world, and if you refuse enough times you get a full on game over and have to replay the bit past your save point
1:36:46 Battlefront II looks and plays incredibly on an Xbox one/ series X. You put in an original disc, get all the dlc for free, and it has a visual upgrade. Its my favorite way to play Battlefront II
Just finished watching the whole video! Thank you very much for the huge amount of work you put in this! This has been a very entertaining ride I love portable gaming so this was perfect for me hehe
Hey just finished the section on the battlefront games, and I'm wondering did you try out instant action on the PSP version of Elite Squadron? Because I found it kind of strange that you didn't mention how space battles and grounds battles are interconnected in that game. That feature is still what makes Elite Squadron stick out in my memory the most, even though I still prefer BFII in terms of handheld ports. If you didn't then I recommend checking it out! It's super impressive to me that they were able to accomplish something that felt that big (relatively) on the PSP and even have the maps still be interconnected in Ad-hoc multiplayer. Anyway fun video so far you did good work!
