I tried taking my boys there last year and had no luck due to terrible weather rolling in. I’d like to try again this year. Any tips on what part of the lake to fish?
It’s an amazing lake me and my family have a property on McGregor and I have learned a lot In my time fishing here my biggest tip is to be in 9-12 feet of water just outside a large weed bed casting curly tails at sunset this will make you catch an insane amount of walleye
I love fishing this lake. We troll in 6 to 15 feet of water depending on temperature and time of day. About the only thing the lake needs is more trees along the shoreline.
We mainly use crankbaits in 6 - 15 feet of water. The issue right now is water temperature. It was only 54 F when we were last out, Walleye feed most heavily at 62 - 67F.
@420since1974 appreciate it, I had 4 kids on the boat, so decided to jig with leaches. Landed 8 total, one 53 cm, so happy we finally got a ab wally in the pan lol Been a minute since we kept a fish in ab lol Thanks again brother
Nice, thank you for sharing, I was trying to find youtuber who is sharing catch walleyes in calgery, finally I found you, subscribed. I just have one question, is that possible fishing on shore at this place since i don't have a boat or kayaks, thanks.
Most of the people that I see fishing from shore are at the north end of the lake above and below the boat launch. Another spot is under the Highway 531 bridge at the southern end of the lake. Good luck and tight lines!
Kind of. We've gone from an 18-foot 1980 ex-Alberta Fisheries Glascon to a 15-foot 2013 Legend. It's 3-feet shorter, but with more beam and free-board. Hoping to have new decals installed next week.
Nice to see some guys throwing lures instead of flies for those big trout! I can't flycast worh beans, and not skilled enough to learn, so give me the spinning rod and a crankbait any time. I have a jet boat as well, and would love to rip around the Bow River and rip the lips of a couple dozen of those big trout. Can you keep any?
continue to be present with me in your videos friends. Your video is great, my friend, I really like watching it. success is always for you friends, and also those who watch. greetings from me Indonesia. best regards always.
Love all your videos, uncut and unedited. Just like how all of us fish and have fun. However that one lipless crank bait you have refered to as firetiger-brown trout, can't find it any where. Share that secret and I wil give you 4 locations at Newell that will bring in 20 pound pike and 10 pound walleye, including the technique and lure. September long we landed 3 pike over 20 pounds (one day) and walleye that were between 4 to 9 pounds.
Thank you, I'm glad that you enjoy our videos. It is knock-off lip-less crank-bait available from both Bass Pro & Cabala's. It's from their Tourney series and the pattern is GOLDEN TIGER. Only about $3.00 each.
@@420since1974 Thank you for replying ... as promised here's the one of the hot fishing spots on Newell. Beside Lake Newel Resort there is a pump house on a point of land, there's a bay that is formed there ... 4 to 8 feet of water ... troll at night for walleye @ 1.4 mph - 100 feet of line ... we were just there ... walleyes from 4 to 8 pounds, trolled from 6 pm to 9 pm ... trolling 6 inch z-man swim baits in white, minnow and chartruse ... back on the 2021 Sept long weekend using this same technique we caught 3 (20 pound pike) in one day ... thanks again ....
@@doylehansen6076 Thank you for sharing one of your hot spot locations, you appear to be a man of your word. I totally forgot that we can fish Lake Newell at any time of the day, unlike Crawling Valley Reservoir and Lake McGregor which limit us from sunrise to sunset. I find it very interesting that you are having great success trolling at only 1.4 mph (our usual speed is 2 to 2.5 mph). Thank you as well for the tip on the Z-Man Swimbaitz length and colours (damn but they are expensive though). Which styles and weights of jig-heads do you have the most success with? What pound test and type of line are you using? How long of a leader is recommended and of which material (monofilament, fluorocarbon, braided, or steel)? In the future, please feel free to ask questions about any of the lakes that we fish and the techniques that we use. Tight lines and keep on having fun! With respect, Kelly.
The Bass Pro/Cabala's Tourney lip-less crank-bait runs at 5 - 7 feet deep. They also sell a "shad rap style" crank-bait that runs 10 - 12 feet deep. We have caught fish on all the available colours, but the Golden Tiger is the only one with reflective foil under the paint. It consistently out-fishes the other colours by at least 10 to 1. I think that it mimics a juvenile Walleye.
hello sir. my sir is back on the sincere record youtube channel tulus record from Indonesia sir. it's great, sir, pulling the fish, so I'm also happy to see the video, sir, sir, the enthusiasm for making the video. I'm waiting for your latest video, sir. greetings one hobby and compact greetings always for us together. Thank you sir
It makes them so much easier to handle. They become very docile and are easier to unhook safely. It's like lipping a Bass or turning a Trout upside down. But, it doesn't work at all with Northern Pike. They just get angry and thrash around like crazy.
@@420since1974 I disagree, . They are not hard to hold and generally stop thrashing as soon as you have grabbed them, To each there own I guess, but when you are catching walleye with destroyed mouths, you will know why.
@@byk4evr1 No problem, you do you. I'm not going to tell anyone how they should handle fish. However, I will say that with the lip gripper that we have been using, I have never seen any damage at all to a Walleye's mouth in 4 years of use. Pike are another matter altogether and I no longer use it on them. Peace and tight lines!
