What a beautiful and amazing man. So thankful that someone made this documentary so people can hear his story, see who he was, and help his memory live on. R.I.P. Shoji. 🌹🎻
This man was more country than cornbread wedding cake. "Met a man while I was playin fiddle in Kansas City who said 'Son, I'll put you on at the Opry', so I had to make Nashville by mornin'." Shoji WAS a country song.
Did you know him personally? He seems to be doing fine in this interview. I hate to break it to you, but there are people who live their entire lives in the US and NEVER learn English. You don't have to be defective not to get good at a language. If you live in a bubble where learning the language is not required for survival, and are surrounded by people who help you, there's not as much pressure to get good at it. Maybe Shoji's wife and daughter did everything for him so he could focus on his act.
Great documentary on the life of Shoji Tabuchi. 🎻 I’m thankful for his friendship for over 45 years. .. In Feb. 1979 we booked him at our theatre at Panama City Beach, FL called the Ocean Opry Show. My family first became aware of him in 1969 and 70 when he was living in our home town, Wichita, Kansas. KFDI radio was, and still is a powerful Country station. Original station owners Mike Oatman and Mike Lynch loved Country Music, but they were also great businessmen. They built a successful team and created a format that worked !! The Radio Ranch became highly successful in every market they purchased stations at. Businesses were constantly calling KFDI to buy advertising because of their down home appeal and believability to listeners. Every disc jockey became personalities on the air, which is almost becoming a thing of the past. They named their corporation ‘GREAT EMPIRE BROADCASTING’ and purchased several additional stations including KTTS in Springfield, Mo, and adopted the same format for each station and became known as the ‘Radio Ranch.’ Shoji would often play at live station remotes for various businesses in Wichita. It didn’t take long for him to become the hottest ticket and name in Wichita. Many times he would play with the house bands at the Western Swinger and the T-Bone Club in Wichita. His name was big with KFDI. Every where he went in life, he became big and highly respected!! This documentary brought tears to my eyes. The Lord allowed our paths to cross. We never know where our journey in life will lead us. In 1980 we booked Shoji Tabuchi and Ferlin Husky at our Ocean Opry at Panama City Beach. Both artists used our house band which I was in charge of. We had a sellout show!! .. At midnight (after our show) our family was booked to host eight hours of the annual March of Dimes Telethon at Gulf Coast Community College. I’ll never forget my dad asking Ferlin and Shoji if they would be willing to make an appearance at the telethon, 3 miles east of our theater at Gulf Coast Community College. Shoji and Ferlin both said, “you betcha, just lead the way and we’ll do it !!” We started our portion at midnight and the Rader Family kicked it off. The phone lines began to light up. Then we brought out Shoji and all six phone lines were ringing with people making donations to the March of Dimes. More money was raised from 12 AM - 8 AM than was raised during prime time earlier on Saturday night. It’s events such as that, and the kindness of people that make my memories more meaningful than words can describe.
Rather biscuits than rolls, tartar sauce I had to push aside, tasted more like butter, used ketchup. Now Steak & Shake had some good meat, I've had such a hard time finding good ground beef, found it there. S&S does shoestring fries, not big on those but onion rings were good. Again, I'm happy with Tartar sauce from a jar, it just didn't taste right. Bring back curly fries!!!

Everyone knows how Scott Baio got where he is. We also know who he is and what he represents. Which is probably why he's trying to make money this way. His career has stalled to say the least.
Got our tickets and can’t wait to see Reza in a few weeks. My 7 year old godson said he’s always dreamed of going to a magic show so he’s very excited.
Turquoise does not come in white. Turquoise comes in an array of blues, greens, teals and aquas... Turquoise is the color it says it is and falls within the entire blue and green range. White buffalo is a separate mineral, rare yes, but turquoise no. It is found in the dry creek region in Nevada where they mine the palest blue turquoise, but it is still blue, very pale almost white but still blue. I believe people trying to sell “white turquoise” are trying to deceive people and even sell them a lesser mineral such as howlite or magnesite, “wild horse”. White buffalo is rare and special but it is NOT turquoise. It IS found in the dry creek region but is a complimentary mineral to the turquoise. Not the same.
