Foster Brooks was a longtime AM radio deejay and didn't start out on his nightclub act until he was in his fifties! When the Luvable Lush comedy routine was fading out as times and attitudes about alcohol changed he made numerous appearances on a variety of TV shows. He always cracked Dean Martin up and he included Brooks at his many 'roasts' including Dean's own roast!
This is real comedy. Not like today’s rubbish. Most so called comedians have to use foul language to get laughs through the shock factor, or March up and down a stage ranting about something. Great to see Foster Brooks and Dean Martin having as much fun doing the sketch as the audience did watching it. 👍👍
Brooks was a comic genius. Even Martin cannot keep a straight face, and Brooks NEVER breaks character. The airline pilot is a legendary performance of the highest caliber.
All the real talent from Hollywood pretty much died out. This is another great one when the earth was still full of sane people, another great one is Red Fox, from his series "Sanford & Son.
This is "real" comedy. I almost get the impression that Dean hasn't read some punchlines of Foster Brooks, or otherwise kept from him, to generate a true laughter scenario out of Dean. That in of itself was hilarious.
Clean family-friendly comedy. Timeless. How mr brooks can keep a straight face while making everyone bust a gut laughing is just plain skills not many comedians now days have this ability
It’s not just the line...it’s the “in the palm of my hand”, with that hand shaking for all it’s worth. Foster Brooks was hysterically funny...kudos to Dean for holding it together as long as he did!
The WWII generation gave us the greatest things. We didn't realize it until they were gone. They were the ones who built America to greatness after the war.
