Co washing is a great way to restore moisture, but it should not be used to replace a cleansing shampoo if it is time for wash day. Also, 2 hours is unnecessary for deep conditioning. 15 to 30 minutes is enough time to activate the conditioner using a shower cap and paired with a hot head cap as a secondary option to further assist in activating the conditioner. I think that’s why your routine takes a whole day. And if you have little knots at your ends you’ll need a trim, because that’s an indication for split ends. To keep your hair stretched I would try African threading or banding method, this is a great technique to do without using heat and gives better results and can be a protective style without the extra steps.

@sibahlevena9231 9 месяцев назад
It is absolutely not a replacement when your scalp does need a cleanse and your hair, like you said it does not wash but moisturizes. 2 hours works best for me probably because i do not have a hot head cap and so if I leave it on for 30 minutes it will literally do nothing, my hair will still be super tangled and I will end up breaking it. With the knots at the ends you are right, which is why I do cut them off , but I probably do need a trim😫. I haven't tried African threading, I might some time, thank you for that. And thank you for watching❤

@@sibahlevena9231a regular shower cap works just as suffice the hot head cap is an option as I’ve mentioned. You can spray water into the shower cap before putting it on this will create steam by the heat from your scalp and this will further activate the conditioner. Do what works for you, but people need to know 2 hours is unnecessary for deep conditioning, that’s why on the bottles they always put 15 min to 30 min, because that’s literally all it takes to activate the conditioner. After that anything extra literally does nothing. Co washing doesn’t cleanse at all, not even the hair strands it restores moisture.

I do say in the video that "depending on how your hair responds to the conditioner". Leaving it longer definitely does make a difference for me. I've tried leaving it for a shorter period but it did not work as well as it does leaving it longer, for me. Yes, one must do what works best for them, as long as they don't do serious damage on their hair. When I said "if your scalp needs a cleanse and your hair" I meant "hair strands".

Your hair is soo gorgeous love 😍😍! I have a question, how much did genetics influence the length/ health of your hair, or would you say for you it was more you taking care of your hair than genetics?
@sibahlevena9231
@sibahlevena9231 9 месяцев назад
Hey love thank you so much for watching, and for the compliment☺ I want to say it both, because both sides of my family have quite a lot of hair ( especially my mom's. From my dad's side it's only a few people to be honest) so I might have gotten that the good genes. But the thing is when I was young I used to really struggle with having nice hair. In fact I had none (except for a certain period when my mother took care of my hair herself). My hair was relaxed, so on top of all that chemical damage, I did not know how to take care of my hair. It was bad that as a result my aunt transitioned me from relaxed to natural(afro). That's when I started seeing good results. But my hair really started flourishing when I started taking good care of it myself. This was around high school. whenever I'd damage it I'd cut and start over. So you see, even if genetics did influence how healthy and long it is, if I don't take good care of it all of that is out the window. So I'd say mainly it is because I take good care of it. Maybe I might also have an advantage because of genes. Thank you for this question.❤ It's actually a nice topic for a video, night steal it😁😅

I see a lot of myself in you Sibahle and I sometimes wish I could send you a hug or VN just to tell you that it will all get better one day. Just don't allow the passage of time to intensify your fears and anxiety around navigating these issues with a professional or getting help. You dont have to do it all on your own❤. P.S I have enjoyed every video you have put out here👌. You have always been a person of depth. I have always known that there is something about the little girl I used to admire doing everything so quietly at the Beehive Hostel. Just keep going ok🙏... Please listen to "The story I'll tell" by Naomi Raine when you find time.
