Until my mid 20's, I tried to "make it". I did everything I could to be a successful drummer and it just didn't happen. Now in my mid 50's, I still play and have become a weekend warrior and play in cover bands. I was once a very good drummer and now with age and not practicing enough, I'm still a good drummer. Looking back, I'm pleased I never made it. I would not have handled the culture of celebrity well. But by the time I was in my 40's like this guy is here, I had long realized that what I wanted wasn't what I needed. Hope this guy got his life together.

I so admire Gene Simmons. What his mother went through to get him to this country and raise him all by herself while instilling such a fabulous work ethic in him--it's nothing short of miraculous. Take a page from this man's playbook.
While what he said was great advice. Every interview with this man he always seems miserable. Hes cheated on his wife a thousand times" he said so hes not exactly a role model.
This little brat had totally no idea what he's up against. SMACK DOWN. He thinks he can argue with GENE SIMMONS? I love how Gene can be on both sides simultaneously. But this kid is absorbing nothing anyone is saying. Gene is right. He'd better like jail life because I don't see him flipping burgers or sacrificing anything for the life he thinks he deserves.

As a professional musician, I can confirm that you can do both: chase the music dream and have that "apple pie, white picket fence" life. Apple Pie White Picket Fence Life I work a full time career in health care and support my wife, our bills, housing needs, food, car, insurances, and anything extra. I also had a son (sadly passed away last year) whom I was also financially ready to support. Music Life I practice with my band once a week, play a show or two every month or two depending on show offers. I also practice in my spare time for around an hour a day. I have also been on tour, recorded albums, sit in for other locals, been recognized locally for my music, and have had an offer to play at Carnegie Hall. To me, this is enough for me to be satisfied musically. I have also been pushing my music for as long as I have been playing (18 years). I should mention to I bought almost all my equipment myself ($15K-$20K worth) minus a couple of gifts from family here and there. I think when this guy realizes that there is a happy medium thats satisfying, he can make it work just like I have.
I’ll bet Dr phil wife was thinking how it would be like with Mr Gene Simmons😛. Phil gets on my nerves. I am tired of his pious act. He is human. He is fallible. Not perfect.
Unfortunately I don’t think that young man actually took in the message Gene was trying to convey- my impression was he was playing to Gene’s status and being agreeable but not hearing his message- too arrogant to actually understand- playing at understanding but won’t change because he’s too self absorbed 😤👍🏻
That audience right there represents how Americans truly are Dr Phil was nothing of help instead he was calling that guy delusional humiliating his audience agreeing clapping like seals you can tell Phil was disappointed when Gene said he supports his dream
