Just got rid of wood pile and brick pile. and the dead cilantro. Was cleaning because last year we lost our sod, all the back yard. to the chinch bug. I figured it was in all the covers and came out in full force. But no biggie for me, I will recreate it. Just too bad for all the little critters that were in there.
How pathetic!! I came to , I hoped, get some information on doing gardening using native plants and received a discusting diatribe on about half a dozen post modernist enviro-nazi very debatable talking points. I just have to remind myself that when I hear this drible, that correlation doesn't necessarily mean causeation.😂
I wish you would focused on the slides much more. The presenter is a hansome fellow but the slides have much more to comunicate. A sugested time split maybe 95 percent on the slides and 5 on the presenter
What does “inner cities and racism” have to do with native plants? Next time act like a professional and keep your political agenda to yourself. The speaker highly discredited herself when she spoke on this. Stay focused on the topic of native plants and keep your agenda out of the presentation.
Thank you for posting. Very interesting. I live in San Antonio and just planted a Vitis Monticola to grow on a pergola. It’s doing very good so far. I have heavy clay soil. I have a pecan tree near so I will monitor if it grows on it!
Edible means "fit to be eaten". Plenty of mushrooms can't be eaten due to texture. Most lethal mushrooms have a delayed onset and could be eaten a few times before you die. That old saying is a really bad joke, is dangerous and honestly just lame.
I noticed that the Foraging book lists edible plants but not their benefits like you provided in this presentation. Is there a benefits list you have created via the studies website you mentioned or otherwise for each of the plants in your book?
The Williamson county chapter of the Native Plant Society of Texas gave away free bluebonnet plants during spring. So I bet there are occasions where they do give away plants for free. Also people will likely give and share cuttings/propogations and seeds.
It is so refreshing to find these kind of videos on RU-vid. A real expert talking about complex scientific findings in a way that is accessible to non experts. Thank you for posting this.
Amazing. Thank you for posting. I am a home gardener in San Antonio slowly seeding/planting native plants in my garden. Although it isn’t large scale, this gives me ideas and inspiration.
This is wonderful! I finally was able to watch it all the way through! I will definitely watch through again for more detailed notes. I am planning a native plant garden in our front yard and this is so helpful. Thank you!
I live in San Antonio and would like to apply some of these concepts to my garden. Right now I’m working on getting rid of Bermuda grass. I would love to find somewhere near me that has native blank land prairie grasses so I could use in my garden.
Native American Seed have native grass and forb seeds for sale. Grass seed is especially easy to germinate and grow in containers for later planting in the garden. Outside pride have forb seeds that often germinate readily. Both nurseries are worth checking out.
