I saw some your videos with your son so I truly believe you about in ears ...it's not easy you know for amp guys to go digital and even worse to go to in ears but even dinosaurs have to get the best of the tech we have now
I want a rotary that does the DSOTM thing- and the more I look into it, it looks like the Keeley Dark Side is about the only real option. There are plenty of rotary pedals- but they all go for the Stevie Ray/J. Scoffield thing. The Floyd rotary sounded smoother, less broken up, more organ like- but it's definitely just David and a damned good Leslie. The Leslie they had sounded particularly good to me- if it was there's- they may have borrowed it for all I know. I saw one at Abby Road Studios when Beato did his tour- always wondered if that might be it. But Idk if they even recorded there- I'm just assuming they did. I'm sure some Floyd super geek will chime in and give me all the details. Anyway- I'm going to try the EHX Lester G. and see what's up with that. The Keeley Dark Side has it for sure but- man it's steep- not a cheap pedal. Then again it gives you like 3-4 effects in one pedal so- maybe I should just breakdown and pay up huh? I am a big Keeley fan anyway- they make some really good stuff.
Very useful video, thanks! Good to emphasise that having a second cable running up your body might affect the way you move around stage... at least that's my experience. I'm getting wireless for my in-ears as a QOL upgrade.
I gone from Dunlop 72mm nylon. To the jazz 3 1.34mm then jazz 3 88 mm tortex. Then the 88 millimetre XL jazz 3. Now the 2mm ultex jazz 3 or a 1.5 ultex flow
About the bright/tight control, the switch acts on two parts of the circuit. I believe the first part reduces the amount of low end hitting the second gain stage between C3 and C4 (same as the BE Fat switch). I believe the second part bypasses the 820 ohm cathode resistor (R16) on V2A with 680nF (C8); you’ll notice a pop when you switch it. I think this amp would benefit from an additional bright switch. The amp would begin to overlap with the JEL20. If you then bypass R13 with 470pF you’ll have something strikingly close to the dirty channel of that amp. You’d need to fully bypass R16 to really get there, this is assuming the plate voltages are well in the vicinity between the two amps.
I don’t understand the Little Sister/JTM 45 marketing comparisons. Unlike the Twin Sister/Dirty Shirley the Little Sister doesn’t have a tube rectifier or 5881s. To that end it no longer has anything in common with the JTM45. The preamp section of the Little Sister/Twin Sister/DS is very similar to a JEL-modded 2203 except voiced to be fatter and darker. That portion of the amp never bore any resemblance to that of JTM45 to begin with.
i dont even play guitar but over 40 years of collecting and doing my homework i bought a FGN J standard and its as good as ANYTHING out there for thousands more., mate they HAD locking tuners from new,, the locking is on the front not the back,, There is a slot on the shaft, turn the tuner then lock it with a screwdriver from the front,, DERRRR
My Phenom pedal came to me " broken". All of the demo vid's on here sound great. Mine sucks. I got it at reduced rate from Guitar center ( I believe? Been a while") because it was the instore demo model. Oh how I wish I just bought a new one for 10 dollars more! I can tell that if working correctly it would sound great. My bad. I learned the hard way not to try and save a couple bucks, literarily... I have had a small number of bad experiences buying 2nd hand pedals online. From now on just NEW when it comes to pedals.
I'm late to the party, but dude. the gig rig is killer its currently on one of my performances. will be using it on Thursday. great balanced performance.
Mine arrived today..Bridge is not straight and tone knob isn't working...like the neck and love the pickups.. Maybe I'll keep it anyway as I just paid 110euros at thomann
Amazing video. Can I ask you about how to make delay and reverb going through like a positive feedback like some of analog delay can do? I dunno if I've espressed my request correctly, I just wanted to do something pulsing and distorted in an infinite kind of loop. Thank you again
Hi is this 20 watt head or combo loud enough to rock n roll at clubs ? If combo isn't I have a marshal 4x12 slant cab from 80's with 65's celestials. And vintage Gibson Jr. With p90 antiquity pick up. Also teles.or have to bump up to 50 watt? I had a Marshall Haze 40 liked it a lot .but was stolen. And hard to find them under $400
P90s are the best pickup all around. You can get some fantastic, jazzy, clean tones out of them when you want to, but they'll get as crunchy as you want on the other end too. Definitely my favorite pickup of them all.
Great review! Really helpful A/B comparisons throughout, plus wide variety of playing styles, which really show what the guitar can do. Head and shoulders above many other reviewers - Thank you! 🎸😎
