how the points will be kept, do you know? i mean, once you start improving you might (most likely) hit a plateaou. there if you start having some bad or not so good races , are the points also going down? or still calculated based on the best 5 racing points in the last 90 days? cheers and good luck

@@Gledii hello. I think the answer is “Yes”. I had a couple of really bad races a couple of weeks ago and my score went down quite a lot. However, they are still trying to figure out how the algorithm should work so it will be a bit shaky for a while. I read a good article on Zwiftinsider.com. You should check that out. Hi, I am coming back to zwift after the summer and can't enter any races as I have no seed score. What's the best way to get started again in races, it's kinda annoying because I just want to jump back in to a cat b equivalent race.. thanks

@@crossrich hmm, great question. You should still be able to enter races at or above your level. Try entering a regular A-D race and then you should get a Race Score for sure.

I think 500 is a good and achievable goal. I was upper b with a ftp 4.2 w/kg ftp and hover around 575. Something to keep in mind is that 600 - 1000 is A level performance. So 500 isn't realy the middle, of the population, it's quite a bit higher.

I got pushed into B when I was usually still not very competitive in C. I guess there were a lot of people sandbagging in my C races though, because my results are about the same in B as C. I don't do that many races though.

unless you are just racing TT - the 30 second and 10 minute power is much more important to racing. Results are also included. I think so far the races I have taken part in the groupings is to broad - having over 100 racing points difference between riders is significant.

Great adventures. Don't worry, we all make mistakes. Even me. I made one like 12 or 13 years ago. It seems like your 1st race was the race you were really dialed into if I'm not mistaken, and you really rocked it.

@Maydeus I don't think I'll ever be fully over the mistake I made circa 2011. I picked up an 18 pack of eggs instead of a dozen at the grocery store and held onto it for like 5 seconds before I realized it was the wrong count. Unacceptable for someone with my unbelievably high talents and standards.

I’m pretty much the same as you, upper C racer waiting to get called up to Cat B. Done a few B’s to see what it is like. What I learned, never go off the front, hide as much as possible in the wheels and carefully pick races that suit your strengths. Good Luck!!

I'm at 99 and have been since they fixed the scoring system. It would be great to set a goal if we knew how the scoring system works, but Zwift is keeping that a secret.

@@zwiftingwithdemonhunter that’s true. But giving every race your best and winning whenever possible will give you a higher score. I have also noticed that when I have good power numbers across the power curve I will increase my Score, so I now sprint even if it’s not to gain places in the end. 🙂

@@fraserp2377 yes. The new system made everything very uncertain. As long as it doesn’t take the fun out of racing I’m glad. But the first few races were very frustrating for me. Now I’ve kind of decided to go for even hundreds or fifties as goal. Now that I’m at 440, the goal is 500, when I’m above 500 I’ll go for 550 or 600 and so on. With the old system I knew that I could reach B but never A. With the new system I have still to learn what my max potential really is.

Racing Score number may not be your objective. Instead, you can focus on things like zwiftpower country ranking, monthly zwift races general classification, etc. This way, racing score will only be a indicator of how well you are doing.

That’s one way of looking at it. As a matter of fact I follow my ranking on ZwiftRacing.app as that score seems pretty relevant. If I understand correctly, the guy behind ZwiftRacing.app has helped Zwift develop their new Racing Score system.

Cool video. I think the new Racing Score is an interesting feature. However I am not sure if it will fully replace A,B,C,D anytime soon - I guess we will see....so you can still keep your goal of improving your FTP...but I think it is great you have focused on your weaknesses...that will help whether you race using the standard categories...or the new Racing Score system. So what should you shoot for? Since you increased your score massively in a short time...I would suggest setting the bar pretty high (why not!) --- so 550-600!...lycka till. And a shameless plug...watching your videos inspired me to start my own tiny channel...commenting on my races. Only done a few so far (currently sick with the flu...so no more for a little while)...but have a look and let me know what you think. Interesting track. Yes, I see how you could have slowed down a bit out in the woods. My sense is that the guys who did better than you in those dirt trails were simply more experienced, not more talented. I could see you making some mental adjustments and maybe even type of bike in the future.

You’re right. I have the talent, but since my main focus isn’t riding small trails, I’ll never get the experience needed to fight for top places. However, I feel that I’m getting better and better, and it’s a lot of fun, so it’s great that I’m getting paid for the effort. 🙂

Nice race and well put together video!... This is not a critisim in any way (as I am relatively new to cycling/zwift) but have you thought about getting out of the saddle a bit more? (Perhaps you did in the section you fastforwarded). I find that you can get a few more watts out for say 15-20s without increasing the 'effort' before sitting down again. Just a suggestion. Keep the content coming!

@@SpinToWin74 thanks for watching. I’m glad you liked it. You are absolutely right. I NEVER stand up when I’m cycling on the trainer. (Hardly outside either). I’m well aware that I lose many races sitting down and I need to practice standing up so that I’m ready when it’s needed. It just doesn’t come naturally. So definitely something I need to deliberate put into every session. That’s what’s so great about putting out videos of races on RU-vid. I get a lot of help from the community. Thank you so much. What is so bad with this race ? You are new to cat B and finish around 90/110. This is just normal... You would like to stay in the bunch, and that's OK. But you put a lot of energy in the firt 3 minutes to keep in the top 20. You even end up beeing at the front, 3rd or 4th. This is just crazy, you stick with people who are close to go to cat A ! Maybe, staying at 50-60th place, in the frist 3 minutes, you could have this sort of "2 minutes at 4+ W/kg" still there, in your legs, ready for the hill. What happens after the hill, how the group splits in 2 or 3 groups... you will see later. I'm still cat C, 3.2W/kg, trying to podium one day :) so you may be right not to agree :)

That’s an excellent point. I would definitely do better with that tactic. However, in episodes 2 and 3 of this series I hang on way longer. At this point I’ve made it a challenge to see how long I can stay with the leaders. As time goes by, I’ll probably employ a different tactic, preferably the one you mentioned. Du åker lite jojo i klungan. Försök undvik att åka fram i fronten och slå av. Klungan tappar fart och du får slita hårdare. Försök hitta en jämn pace istället bakom fronten, prova växla till en lättare växel och öka kadensen. Annars bra kämpat!

@@Maydeus yes, maybe. You could join me at the sunday vikings 100 km ride; i never do the irl stop, but always continue at higher w/kg. The a’s and b’s doing that are to fast for me, but there’s always a small group of fanatics left; it’s a group ride in the end anyway. Good training aswell (high aeroob).

Kul film! Jag o dottern finns med på den sista biten när du pratar om loppet =) Vi tyckte det var ett bra lopp, första gången för oss med! Banan var mer tuff med sina höjdmetrar, än var för svår tekniskt, tyckte vi. Busigt väder hade vi ju den dagen, det åskade runt oss o regnet stod i backen - men aldrig rakt på oss cyklister - häftigt. Vi kommer dit nästa år med! Tack för din film, roligt att du lägger upp!

Cool idea and fun video. Your 1min power is quite weak. If I understand zwiftpower right it's saying your 1min power is in the bottom 16% racers, and your 15second power is no better. Your 20 min power and 5min power are your strengths (34% and 28%). So relatively speaking compared to a well balanced rider, your 1 min power is less than HALF of what would be expected of someone with your 20min power. This is going to make it very tough to stick with a C group, let alone a B group, if there's any short sharp hills, and very hard to contest any bunch finish. Maybe you could do a workout a week targeting 20-60 second power to try to develop it? Otherwise you're in a bit of a funny spot where your ftp is good enough to hang if you're time trialling up the Alpe, but can't stick with any surges or contest the finish which sounds quite frustrating.

Awesome feedback. Thanks. It’s true that my 1min power is weak. It’s never been a focus, so the numbers on ZP are a bit lower than what I’m capable of, but they are still my weakest point. I lose a lot of races in the sprint, and when placing matters, that’s a crappy attribute. I might add in some high power short intervals to mix up the training. Again, thanks for your comment and for leading me in the right direction. Highly appreciated. 🙏

I see now that it’s lower on ZP than it is on Zwift’s own site. On Zwift.com it’s 8.91 for 15s and 5.67 on the 1min. Slightly better, but plenty of room for improvement. What would be good numbers to aim for?

Ah ok. I wonder why they would be different? Maybe it's not an issue at all. I'm the exact same 20min w/kg as you and just go promoted to cat B (although I am 10kg heavier than you at the same height). My 1min power is 5.4w/kg (27%).

@@AndrewisTri-tn1uo I’m pretty sure it’s because ZwiftPower only registers races and group rides, whereas Zwift.com and Strava/Garmin also register structured workouts and free rides. But you bring up a great point about the different power duration numbers. I should talk about that in a coming video. Until then I need to find the races that fit my phenotype when I race in B and go outside of my comfort zone when I race in C. 🙂

@@Maydeus Do some structured workouts with short efforts like 40/20 intervals or 1,2,3,4 minutes intervals to improve your one minute and 3 minute power. That would help you a lot in the races from what I have seen. Most hills are 1-3 minutes on Zwift and if you could improve these numbers so you could do lets say 5-6w/kg for a minute like most B riders do then you would stand a much larger chance to stay on with the leading group for longer. Workouts might not be the most fun to do but they really do a large differense in your performance in a short amount of time. Add one or two workouts per week and you will se improvements in a month or two.

Det blir ingen Vätternrundan i år för min del. Skulle egentligen kört MTB-Vättern igår, men valde istället att köra MTB-Orientering. Men jag gillar Vätternrundan och kommer köra fler gånger. Jag har även kört 30-milsloppet Saimaa Cycle Tour i Finland. Det kan jag verkligen rekommendera. (Finns en video om det på min kanal) Lycka till.

Jättebra tid! Det var en jobbigt bana. Håller med om sista loopen...den var riktigt jobbig. Jag fick ingen bra tid alls. Väggade efter 2-3 mil och sedan var det kamp att ta sig i mål. Sista loopen blev kramp loop. Inga lätta backar uppför. Riktigt bra film.

Grymt Mattias, såg ut som en riktigt tuff bana med mycket stig och tekniska partier, Sånt saknas väl mer eller mindre på CV så det borde gå bättre där. Såg ut som du for förbi massor av folk under racet med 💪💪💪

Detta var bra mycket mer tekniskt än Cykelvasan. Helt klart. Men jag kom fram en bra bit i startleden. Startled nummer 20 preliminärt i år istället för 40+ förra året. 🙂💪 Kollade igenom stora delar av detta loppet i samband med redigeringen. Jag stod stilla i mer än fem minuter för att få ett läkarutlåtande efter att jag hade fallit och slagit i huvudet i marken. Så det finns mycket tid att plocka om alla små tidsförluster elimineras. 🙂

Hi, some B group rides looks more and more like A pace, I'm pretty sure that the B races are brutal. Spend some time with Constance robopacer. If you hold 15 minutes, aim for 17 the next time and so on! I see you wear SZR colors, come and spend some time if you can every Thursdays at 1.00pm EAST, SZR Climbing Crew (B). I'm the Red Beacon (if needed), we can fine tune your climbing skills! Keep the good work, cheers.

Build up the strength and then go for it. Sometimes Zwift changes your category based on some stupid algorithm and you’ll be stuck in there. That happened to me once.

Thanks! Did a B race again today and stayed with the pack for 18 minutes (it was a pretty slow B race, but still) and was only 1:21 behind the winner at the finish line. By the way. Love your channel. You’re a great inspiration. 👍 Thanks for watching.

Fun experiment and good to put yourself out there, but from this video I'm not sure you're ready, and would probably get more just out of racing C still. Unless you just start winning all the time or Zwift algorithm boots you, it's fine. You could also talk about what your, say, 6 month goal ftp w/kg is and how you plan on getting their, both from a weight and power perspective. I'm in the same position, ready to start thinking about the jump to cat B but I'm over 10kg heavier than you so it's a bit different. It looks like you're probably better on longer and hillier courses. So if you entered C races that were shorter and flatter you'd probably still get plenty of challenge still. This is what I plan on doing, except for me it's hillier courses that are the challenge.

Great. Thanks for your comment. You’re right, I’m not ready to make the move to B quite yet. However, I do a lot of racing in C with my team, so I want to mix it up with some B racing as well. From a learning point of view I sometimes prefer to race at a higher level as I don’t really care what place I finish in (except for when I race in a team environment where points matter). What I miss out on when racing above my level is the tactical aspect, which is super important for learning to manage a race and ultimately winning. When all my energy is going to just staying with the group, then there is no room for tactics. 🙂 Thanks for watching. Take care.

Grymt bra Mattias, till ditt försvar vill jag säga att detta är nog en av de värsta banorna att köra som ny B åkare då det är väldigt mycket upp och ner hela tiden och ingen vila någonstans. Testa de nya racen som började idag, något plattare banor men det går hårt uppför i B klassen, man får nog räkna med 5-7w/kg i backarna för att hänga med

Stort tack. Riktigt kul att känna att jag hänger med så länge som jag gör. Precis som jag nämner i videon så påminner det väldigt mycket om känslan när jag började köra i C. Hängde med bra fem minuter, fick släppa, kom in i ny grupp några minuter, fick släppa, ny grupp igen, släppa igen, och sedan ganska ensamt in i mål. Det enda som är lite tråkigt är att jag känner att kroppen nog kommer maxa ut utvecklingen någonstans runt mitten av B, så några jätteresultat är inte att vänta, men kul att se hur långt det kan gå i alla fall. 🙂

In middle distance and long distance the course is printed on both sides of the map. Turning the map to the other side is one of the areas where I can improve a lot. 🙂👍
