Hi, I like the principle. I can see that the steel frame is more like an agricultural building rather than an industrial greenhouse. I assume there not popular due to cost. Would you have an estimate m2 of shell, cost per m2 and are there suppliers of these types of units or are they bespoke. Thank you.

its smart because you can build a house like it doesn have to be designed to be in place of weather. its dumb because you have to live in a giant glass house.

I never heard about this house before now and I live close, got to go take a look at it. Pricetag cannot be cheap though. Maybe a couple of shipping containers for the house would be something, a greenhouse round them should take care of the moisture you get in shipping container houses up here.
I like this very much except the stairs. These kind of stairs should be made illegal. They are unsafe for children and the handicapped/elderly. Stairs should have toe kicks, handrails on both sides as well as some type of wall on the outer edge about 125cm high or spindles spaced close enough that a child could not fall to the ground.

Wonderful video and beautiful restoration. I created a previous Smith House II RU-vid video entirely from photos ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VXNE6dwU1VE.html. As an architect, I've always wanted to see that home in person and these interior shots are the next best thing. In one sense, it's a bit of a shame that Gordon and Marion's studio spaces are no longer being used for their original purpose. But It appears they are being used as home gallery spaces, which happily honors that element of the original program. This home and its integration with its setting has always seemed a masterwork to me. Even if Erickson had never done another building, he would still be known for this creation.
