At NHL World I'm making videos on hockey cards, interesting facts about hockey players, and offering insight into hockey stats. And I love the Edmonton Oilers.
Thank you for leaving the best until last! Zach Benson went 14th-overall in the 2023 Draft, but earned a spot on the Sabres' roster by sheer determination, and getting his very first NHL goal in that fashion was spectacular!
If you do a second version of this, you need to include the last-minute, game-winning goal by Buffalo's Tage Thompson on March 28, 2022, when he attempted a slap shot and his stick broke, but the puck rebounded off of the backboards, hit the Chicago goalie on the foot, and went in.
There's been way better caps goals than the one ovi did on Boucher.. and as good as the Matthews one was picking ek65s pocket, what about Matthew knies playoff tally against Florida?
Word of advice, instead of click baiting, put "every NHL teams best goal in the last 2 years" or some shit. (Also please fix this resolution, looks like we're watching on one of those 1990 samsung TV's)
Crazy thing is that’s not even Geno’s best goal. His end to end rush vs Tampa in 2012 is one of the best goals ever as well as his no look flat footed backhand snipe for the hatty after the nasty faceoff win vs Carolina when he went demon mode in ‘09. People forget he was the best player on the planet both of those years (09, 12) in an era with generational talents like Sid and Ovi. Malkin is in that same tier, he was just playing behind Crosby (yet played better when 87 was injured). He’s 7th all time in era adjusted points per game btw lmfao (well above Ovi). I’ll never understand how most people call Kane better💀.
Good stuff with the Malkin spin move goal. That goal hasn't been getting the attention it should have. Phenomenal. William Karlsson's through the legs goal isn't a bad pick, but there were a couple better goals that year. Can't remember which off the top of my head though. The Canucks should bring Horvat back. He's exactly the type of player you want if you're trying to build a winner. Was hardcore dumb af to get rid of him. Kent Johnson's is probably the only lacrosse goal that's a goal of the year candidate. Good pick. Usually it's a cheesy move, but he made it on the fly to finish off a good possession play.
Bobby Orr’s 1970 Stanley Cup winner is the most memorable goal in NHL history and you don’t even have it as the top Bruin goal, that’s why I stopped watching 1:30 in!
If you don’t think that Byfield goal is worthy then you are missing a lot… slow it down and watch again 7:29. He jump toe drags between the legs of Werenski, lands and uses his skate to kick the puck up to his stick then at the SAME TIME stick lifts Werenski to corral the puck while falling to one knee then goes forehand backhand over the pad. The finish on Merzlikins is insane watch the edgework to twist his lower body while sliding on one knee and still elevates. Y’all don’t realize how crazy it is to even think to do all of this nevermind pull it off at high speed. The hands, the IQ, the edges, the balance, the finish. Might be the best goal on the video.
