Lovely place but really gives you an appreciation for the cold water of Ireland that keeps the crowds away 😅 Me and my buddy took to paddling out before first light at Kabalana just to get some waves
Absolutely I would take cold uncrowded Ireland over busy warm waters any day. I also found I get a sense of accomplishment when surfing cold water here in Ireland as if your battling the nature it self with the cold and the wind and dark gloomy sky and you still manage to have a great session while in warm water is so easy compered.
@@petermcauley626 thanks bud I feel like I have improved in technique mostly due to surfskating but my paddling stamina is on all time low since I haven't been regularly in the water. Hopefully get back to shape in time for the winter. See you in the water 🌊
Great video. Any advice for popping up on a 6,4. Went out at the weekend. Caught 6 waves on it but I find I'm not up on my feet as fast as I should be.
Thanks!! honestly if you asked me about any other thing in surfing I would probably have a tip that helped me but popup is my biggest weakness as well. Two things spring to mind one is I jumped from 7.6 beginner malibu surfboard to Firewire seaside 6.0 way to fast and that stalled my progress. Once I got 7.4 Big bad egg my wave count and subsequently my popup improved as with smaller boards the room for error is much smaller and then after a year of surfing that I jumped down to 6.6 midi that is by far my favorite board. So it might be board selection and you jumped to much down same as me to soon. And the 2nd thing ab roller I felt made a big difference to build my core and together with surf skating to give my legs some power on popup.
Always! My first time surfing I got ragdolled by big suprise set and once I got to the surface my surf instructor seen my smiling he said he knew I would pick the sport up😂
I admire anyone hardy enough to submerge themselves in the freezing cold waters of Ireland's coast! As soon as I'm barely ballix deep in the sea I start to hyper ventilate! I'm fairly soft with cold water tho, even the Mediterranean takes a while for me to get used to it.
This has to be Streedagh, Easkey, or mullaghmore, these videos are amazing. Any chance on letting me know where exactly, or maybe a 20km radius of where it is near 😂
Avoid them like a plague 😅 In all seriousness there's a left I can't get out of my head in North Mayo been there couple of years ago and it was the most perfect wave I seen and I didn't go in because it was a left. Need to get back there and redeem myself 🤙🤙
Thanks glad to hear it. We have one advantage on East coast we can cherry pick where the best conditions are before driving for hours. Thats what I tell myself anyway 😂
Brutal paddle out but so worth it! Bad news, when you get older fitness disappears in 2 weeks! I thought you were Irish but the accent tells me otherwise? :)
Because you are a novice and In fairness to other surfers you shouldn't surf the reefs. Its not safe to learn how to surf in these spots, there is plenty of beaches to practice and build up your ability without putting others and yourself at risk.
Great vid man 👏 can imagine filming yourself like this makes it easier to see how you can improve. You're inspiring me to film some footage of myself so I can see where I can improve. Keep it up 🤙🤙
Thanks bud glad to hear your enjoying the vids. Funny enough it was @nottherealmccoy4955 and Matt from MC Surf Photography that motivated me to go out with gopro in the first place and loved watching my footage. Planning on having a big year with loads of travel plans from March onwards so vids should be more frequent then.
Hey I’ve been watching a few of your videos, long time surfer here but just passed my test not that long ago so I can finally travel myself. I’m from Dublin so can you recommend best practises or just hope you’re lucky when you get there?
@@chriatianmcguirk2161 thanks I am kinda pissed off as 4 different mechanics checked it and can't find the foult so will wait for another week for my regular mechanic is back. I got was battery sign on merc dashboard 3 weeks ago and I got a new alternator at first mech new battery at 2nd and it's still popping up randomly. All voltages reading are good so still driving fine but noone can find the issue causing the warning light at dashboard 🤐
Thanks bud glad to hear.Haven't posted in a few weeks got more footage from this surf and one before but bought a van to do a camper conversion so plunging my time in to that at the moment:)
