Hey y'all! I'm Craig aka thenaturalmedic! My channel is all about my adventures outdoors, plus tips, tricks, and hacks to help you enjoy the Outdoors SAFELY. I have been a Paramedic since 2014 and, prior to that, was a Park Ranger for the states of Arkansas and Texas. I do believe that it is possible to enjoy the outdoors and be budget-friendly too, so I also do product reviews when appropriate.
I am a backpacker, camper, hiker, geocacher, kayaker, etc. I try to be honest, giving you the good and bad of my experiences. I have backpacked and hiked many places in my home state of Texas and the surrounding states of Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and more! I hope to hike both of the long trails in Arkansas someday soon (Ouachita Trail and the Ozark Highlands Trail), but thus far, the most extensive Arkansas Trail I have tackled is Eagle Rock Loop.
I enjoyed learning about how to prepare for hiking in warm and hot weather. Seeing inside the cave was interesting and was different from Carlsbad. It makes me want to find out about the bees in the vegetation on the trail. Thanks for sharing!👍
It was neat to learn about the history of the American wilderness. We are fortunate that wise men had the forethought to have these areas set aside to preserve wilderness lands for us to enjoy. 👍
I lived in Deming for 20 years, been to city of the rocks countless times, it is not formed the way the visitor center describes. We need a fresh take on history, especially within the last 20k years. Go check put the grain processing rocks at a saddle in the johnson range, just south of Deming, west of 3 ancient pyramids. Cant miss them off hwy 11 towards Columbus.
City of Rocks was an interesting park. The Annual Pass for visiting New Mexico parks that you mentioned would be good to have. Would you explain what you meant about geocaching? 👍
Geocaching is like a real-life treasure hunt, but instead of gold, you find hidden containers with trinkets and goodies. It's a great way to explore and have some adventure!
City of Rocks sounds interesting. The pass you mentioned is a great idea for those who enjoy the state parks of NM for one year. Thanks for stopping by and sharing what you discovered!👍
Tried that too. I tried squeezing it, shaking it, pouring water through it and no luck. I read that some of them arrive defective. So I reached out to customer service to hopefully get a replacement.
@@ThenaturalmedicAdventures I think he's pulling your leg. Thunder because they're thrown out of the inside of the earth when an eruption, usually accompanied by a thunderous sound, occurs and the clumps of rock have formed from pressure deep underground. It takes a lot of heat and pressure to form the crystals inside the "egg" and that only happens underground.
While your out there you can go vist the Lincoln Riley Memorial Higway...that last inch of highway 325 (most desolate higway in Oklahoma) headed west into New Mexico
Nice job. I lived in Kenton for many years between town and The Black Mesa. I hiked the mesa more times than I can count, but except for one time, always from the southside which is much shorter but a much tougher climb. Locals refer to the cholla cactus using the Spanish pronunciation where two l's are pronounced like a "y". For Boise City the e is silent unlike the place in Idaho. Spectacular country. Lots of bird lovers and rockhounds abound. Kenton gets Eastern, Mountain, and Western bluebirds. Wildlife is plentiful and the people, the ones that are left, are resilient, hardworking and friendly. Bit of trivia, there are 0 stop lights in Cimmaron County. Stars at night are spectacular! I currently live in Van Horn, TX and have hiked Guadalupe Peak, a real ball buster. Ha. Ha.
Well you want your arms at a 90 degree angle. Setting them at those measurements was the easiest way to do so. To make them the same would be too tall for me.
Every high point seems to be unique. It must be fun to discover the qualities of all the different ones. Good job on emphasizing respecting people's private property.❤
This offered a lot of varied trails to enjoy. It is awesome that a person can enjoy beautiful scenery plus a glimpse of bison grazing. Good job of sharing your travels with us.👍
I enjoyed riding with you to see this amazing park. It is interesting to learn more about another of the presidents from Mount Rushmore. He was a smart man with a lot of forethought. Thank you!
It is an incredible place. I have only hiked the ring trail. I will have to hike Joyner Ridge this year. Rumor has it, an ancient name for the rock feature was "place of bad gods", which was translated to its present name, Devils Tower.
