Can you recommend for accessory which acts as an additional viewfinder- attached to the camera to spot a bird more easily on a tree In one of my trips in East India, I saw two photographers from Singapore. Use a particular View finder to Track and Focus. The bird easily. I maybe wrong. Kindly let me know.

Having shot the 200-500 mm extensively in Tanzania, agree that this lens is really capable. But if you have a newer Z body and currently choosing a long lens, I would definitely recommend to invest in the 180-600 mm if you can afford it. Although the 180-600 mm is variable aperture, it only goes to f/6 at 300mm and f/6.3 at focal lengths after 480mm. That’s manageable with newer Z bodies (Z6III/Z8/Z9) which have improved low light capabilities and great as it contributes to weight savings. The other thing is that the newer 180-600 is virtually silent, which is very important to me for videos. You won’t hear the mechanical sounds of the motor like in the older F lenses, especially when it hunts focus.

Great needed upgrade over Z6II great review too Terence , but the price for Z6III is way too much and expensive, in Asia pacific and Europe regions now . USD $2500 makes Z6III too expensive in these places right now due to exchange rates . All happy days if you live in USA and pay with USD it's all good for Americans. The USD is about 40% stronger than currencies in Asia pacific and Europe right now thats why we are seeing crazy price on this Z6III outside USA. So you will over pay now for the Z6III outside USA. With the imminent arrival of Canon's R5 MKII in the next week or two , hopefully this puts down ward pressure on this new Z6III as it will most likely be a much better alternative camera than Z6III. In my view NIKON priced Z6III just too high for launch because the better Z8 is being discounted now and this new price is too close to the new Z6III price. This just doesn't make any sense now to buy Z6III. I wanted to buy it but now Im not going to pay what NIKON are asking they are dreaming with this ambitious pricing outside usa , and having you all on . I would buy the Z8 instead, as it is a far superior camera .The Z6III was ready over 12 -18 months ago but NIKON sat on it , hesitated and left in storage for ages. They eventually puled the trigger. I believe it was touch and go if it was going to be launched at all due to wild pricing currency fluctuations and higher tech coming in rival brands. We know Nikon has basically confirmed Z7 line is done, and the Z8 is the Z7II successor now.
@TerenceSzeto
@TerenceSzeto Месяц назад
The Z8 is a great choice honestly for the price, it's just that I prefer smaller physical size and file sizes, so I suppose there is a market for the z6III too :)

Well balanced review. While I am keen on the Z6III - I already have a Z6II. It would be great if you could do some comparisons about video setups and options as the 6III / Z8 start to become more widely used in the market. I am also interested in the logic of getting an external recording monitor device for the Z6 II if that's a subject that you can comment on. Thanks.
@TerenceSzeto
@TerenceSzeto Месяц назад
If you don't mind having an atomos recorder on your z6ii, then that's perfect for most videography needs. I personally would prefer recording 10-bit and NLog internally without the fuss of a monitor and all the cables and power solutions, which means the Z6III is a no brainer for me. I'll probably do a more comprehensive review once I get to spend more time with it!

Thank for the review. Your points confirm my assessment. I have this lens and it performs very well on on my Nikon Z bodies with the FTZ adapter. The new 100-600 has better auto-focusing, is sharper (especially at the limit), and lighter (though no by much), but still longer with the FTZ adapter for the Z cameras. For me, it is not worth the upgrade at this time.
