They do fine up the mountain; just note that on continuous uphill especially steeper slow stuff like hairpins the battery may drain and you will be left with only the petrol engine to do most of the work, which isn't a whole lot of power. So it'll be slow. Use B mode on the way down. Use aircon as well, cools the battery as well as dissipate a small amount of excess charge.
For the first time I had a problem climbing up some steep street in San Francisco and Berkley residential streets. The car was going up really slow. I was looking at the gear settings but couldn't find anything to change it to and knew "B" is only for breaking going downhill.
Testing the Toyota HSD system in long downhills from moutain to the sea, the problem with this kind of cars is that it does not have gears 1,2,3,4,5,etc like regular cars but only D, then when you drive in downhill you need to use the breaks a lot ?
Seriously? U guys either talk or make the most obnoxious noises or play music so your viewers can't even listen to the noise of the car when you're driving. If you're going to give a road test review, esp. for mtn driving, learn to silence yourselves for a moment so your viewers can possibly make an acutal judgment on the noise or performance of the car, sorry so negative but I'm sick of road test reviews with loud talking and music throughout the entire video. Just pointless.
The power mode is pretty much just an adjustment to the pedal mapping, and really doesn't give you any more total power(not that you really need more total horsepower).
CT200h or Auris has more stable ride in mountain because of rear independent suspension. I could go 100-120km/h in twisty roads in Tyrol and Mt. Blanc with Auris hybrid. It handles better than Prius with torsion beam rear suspension.

I have a ct200h, and it handles mountains EASILY! drove it across Norway without a single problem, and avaraged 4.5L/100km. Edit: i drove it in eco mode.
Looking for A video that answered this question.. I have A ct200h and want to road trip from Atlanta to New York.. I rented A hyndai and took it up to Gatlinburg Tennessee but I do remember the engine smelled like it was burning or something when going thru mountains.. Im not sure how ct200h would do
4:10 4L/100 km to 5.4L/100 km. So from about ~58.7 mpg to 43.5 mpg? That's still not too bad. Yes, a ~25% reduction in fuel efficiency, but still much higher than a Jeep or pretty much any other vehicle. Question is: was the Prius able to keep up with traffic when going up the steep mountainous climbs? Also, wait, 4L/100 km. That's ~59 mpg! Are you sure about that figure? Sounds high. Toyota only rates their Prius for like 48/51 mpg city/highway.
It isn't to hard for me to get 65 mpg under the right driving conditions, and my Prius is a heavier varient (larger battery, but I am only referring to the milage with the battery pretty much drained so it is just dead weight)
Even worse for other gasoline cars. Diesel is the best for mountain driving because the torque of Diesel engine is above 400Nm even with 1.6L turbo diesel. 50MPG is the normal driving of most American at 120 Km/h or 70mph in interstate. IT is not bad at all for mountain. You must drive very economically in mountain then.
I go on family vacation much with the prius. Most 4 cilinder cars make noice in the mountains. Also with an automatic transmission. The prius is a great car. Good cargo space. Luxury. And you can trust it. People always make the prius smaller than it is.

When will the newer version be released :-) You also wrote on Thingiverse that you're planning to create a splashproof and waterproof version. Since this case is perfect for a surveillance camera i am really interested in the waterproof or splashproff case. So what's the status of these :-)
3 months ago I called it "temporary workaround" 2 months ago I called it "essential hack" 1 month ago I did AtoB tests for it (unchanged) Yesterday I said to juniors that I will refuse any change to this file unless there will be documented evidence that this working piece of crap is the reason of critical bug.
