I just replaced that rubber piece because my toilet was making a noise and now when my toilet is filling up it goes a little bit passed the fill line and now the water wont close
I have a friend who converted a PEX crimp tool into a PEX press tool by carefully filing off the end of the tool. Does anyone know of a video of somebody doing this? I asked my friend to share with me how he did it but he's not reliable in replying back in a timely manner. Thank you for your time.

Think the porcelain is far less flexible than the acrylic/perspex/plastic cover you are using also a new piece each test would typically be required cut at the same time from the same sheet, the red gasket has given me nothing but trouble any time I have used it just Couldn't get it to work. Would not seat after 4 or 5 tries just gave up failed each and every time, the blue seal I generally prefer, but had a call back as the rats chewed through on I installed, not a good look.!?
Homeowner: I DIY'd one with the better than wax after seal broke on my toilet, it's been on our most used bathroom in the house for 2 years, no issues to date, very easy to install.
Downside is that these jobs will only exist in larger cities with buildings that utilize escalators and elevators, which means cost of living and rent/housing prices will be much higher.
I would ask you to try again with either a much thicker, say 1 inch acrylic, or putting a stout metal ring over the acrylic to keep it even all the way around. I saw that acrylic bend before you even started. Critical thinking could have proven a better experiment.
we got so many old houses up here in Canada that use black polyethylene pipe along with barb insert fitting from deep in the well pump straight to appliances
If the lines ever have more than 5 pounds of pressure, your house is already flooded, ring be damned, the toilet will have overflowed. This is a poor test, the rubber seals are better for real life conditions.
You should how do you justify a price on something a customer can do but same goes for pro press. It’s extremely simple. Yea you need the press tool but you can also rent them nowadays.
I have a plumbing company (38 years) and have never experienced a slow year. All of my experiences have filled my head with ideas for new products an I finally have one branded, manufactured in my shop and patented. It's a circulation pump switch that turns on a pump without smart switches, push buttons, wifi, RF or wires to install inside the house. Easily activated from any hot water tap. Any ideas on how to get this pump switch in front of other plumbers? Would you be interested in giving it an honest review?
I hear what sounds like air in the water pipes in the laundry room, downstairs bathroom and pipes in the craw space underneath laundry room and bathroom. I checked the pipes for cracks or leaks and none were found, what is this sound?
I think a dyed water test would have been much better. Whether you use water or air, it would be best to use a dedicated psi meter attached to the test tank. those bike pumps are not accurate with the psi reading when you’re pumping them up, it reads the back pressure in the small hose itself, not the pressure in the test tank, that’s why it drops back down after each pump.
I think people take their vision for granted until they have issues with it. I dodged a couple of bullets in my day not wearing safety glasses, and since then I preach from the mountain tops to whoever will listen, please protect your eyes.
Anything wrong with leaving the city water on and hook the hose to the tank and then turning the valve to drain the tank. My tank will drain with city water on. It won't drain without it.
I don’t think we should ever fault a professional for using a system that is fast and easy to install. But we should require them to use systems with proven long term durability.
I’m more interested in long term durability at service pressure rather than factor of safety against overload. How long before the o-rings deteriorate and slow leaks commence?… I don’t like the idea of O-ring seals inside finished walls. However, at accessible and visible locations I see no problem with them. The best fitting is no fitting so I am thus very fond of expansion Pex A which is also very fast to install and also has the added benefit of freeze overload resistance due to its flexibility. Cheers!
