If you happen to have experience with Drambo on iPad, is there any interplay/benefit you see between Torso and Drambo? Or do you think they may be redundant with it being better to choose one or the other?
I’ve not used the T-1 with Drambo, but given the T-1’s depth of midi control, I can’t see why you wouldn’t be able to make very good use of it with Drambo.
Great one!…listen several times!..love it! And wondering what to get to my Ipad?..T1-or Oxo one?…compact over predictable?…is that performance fx section is running on ios?..in AUM?…how do you like ist so far?
I didn’t use the performance fx parameters during this vid, but yes, it should work well with AUM. I really enjoy the live performance aspects and potential of the T-1, but I’ve never used the Oxi One, so I’m afraid I can’t advise which might be best for you. Many thanks for listening!
Are you plugged c to c into the ipad? Does the ipad power the t-1? Do you have somethjng to keep the ipad charging while powering all that, seems like a battery suck. Lol
@@theproxyserver7125 i bought a powered usb-c adapter on amazon, doesnt charge the ipad, I can connect devices through it, but doesnt charge the iPad. I assume it would power the torso, I wonder if theres one that could be a hub and a charger simultaneously.
@@theproxyserver7125 last question, I found a used one for a good price, ive been sort of saving for an oxi one because its bluetooth and battery powered, but theyre never available. Do you love your t-1, does it add something to what a good sequencer app like Octachron or Drambo or Atom 2 etc can already do? Im trying to decide to keep waiting (and waiting) for an Oxi at $250 more or the T-1 now for less. Thanks for the assist on this man.
@@jospehbloseph7172 I’ve not used the Oxi One, but I love the thinking behind the T-1; the idea being that you’re creating and manipulating sequences ‘on the fly’…. basically, improvising. You do have to spend some time getting a feel for how the T-1 does stuff… you need to treat it as an instrument and spend some time learning its methodology, but once you ‘get’ it, the workflow is quick, musical and satisfying. Check out the Analog Sol videos if you haven’t already, as he gives a good flavour of the T-1’s potential. Sorry I can’t better advise as to whether the Oxi One or T-1 is best for your needs, but hopefully you’ll have a creative blast whichever way you go. (I prefer hardware sequencing to Drambo etc. btw).
@@theproxyserver7125 me too, sequencing is the one thing I dont find the same satisfaction from apps. It started with Elektron, building sequences with parameter locks and per trig variations on the fly as it grows and builds. I live that and if I can get that experience with the infinite sound creation options on the ipad, ill take it, its hard to imagine no screen, thats the part that has me nervous I shouldn’t have spent tthe money while I wait for it.
Check the ‘Groove’ section knobs/buttons for adjusting swing; and you can input sequence elements manually, as well as using the Euclidean methods. You can find the comprehensive manual in the Support section of the Torso website, which might help you get your head around its many features…. torsoelectronics.com/support/ Thanks for listening.
Great!..i was thinking to get T1 to pair with ipad..now i see it’s working!..i like your sounds!…. Its easy enough to play with?..how deep a learning curve?
The T-1 pairs really well with the iPad and the learning curve can be as deep/steep as you choose to make it… By which I mean, you can achieve very pleasing results using the Euclidean sequencing and looking for ‘happy accidents’… but to really dig into the T-1’s potential, it pays to read the manual (a chunky document) and get your head around all of the controls. Treat the T-1 as an instrument, not just a sequencer.
Ta for listening la! Forthcoming tunes should be a bit more freeform as I get my head around the T-1 (sequencer), which may or may not be a good thing… road to nowhere etc…. We’ll see. Tad cool in the attic earlier, hence the oversized worse for wear woolly…!
are connected to the ipad via bluetooth ? or Link ? can you set it up thru ? so if I plug another sequencer in the midi IN a can reach the ipad via the my first sequencer ?
The usb from the Torso T-1 goes into an adaptor behind the iPad, with the Zoom interface going into the same adaptor for audio out. So, no Bluetooth or Link. The T-1 has two (mini trs) midi outs, and the second one can be assigned to midi thru via the Torso T-1 app. So, yes, you can run another unit into it and pass the midi thru. Hope this answers your question. I’m now using the T-1 with my main rig, so keep an eye on my forthcoming vids, where I plan on doing more stuff with it…
Love the aesthetics, build quality and general thinking behind its design, which is partly to encourage you think differently about sequencing - which makes it great for ambient, and/or loosely structured vibes, but not ideal for more traditionally structured tunes… ie verse, chorus, fiddly bit in the middle etc.
@@theproxyserver7125 yeah, I agree. I've had one for years but it doesn't always stay at the centre things. I do love it's immediacy, though it feels like Polyend stopped caring for it after making more flashy, plastic toys for the consumer market. If the SEQ had continual support. It could have been the most efficient sequencer out there. Enjoying your videos!
After years of using gear but having to sell it, I'm now just using a Mac laptop, midi key board and samples. Maybe you could give me your thoughts on my efforts? You Tube obvs. Keep on rockin'.....
And when you don’t sell yer excess gear, you end up like me - trying to wrestle it all into some sort of coherent noise, when I could’ve saved mucho time and wonga by staying ‘in the box’ as they say… You’ve done the sensible thing la…!
Blimey! Is that the Seabord RISE 2 MPE/MIDI? Wow! I suppose someone had to re-invent the keyboard and I'm well impressed to see one under your gnarly hands. Looks like carbon fibre - the time trial equivalent of a synth keyboard. Keep up your cadence La!!
That could sound amazing with a string bass plus vocals and guitar. The controller looks cool and it's definitely a perfect use of the sequencer and apps, such a clean looking minimalist setup that still achieves a full and warm sound.
This was a while back - I’m not sure how I had the unit set up, but I know I was ok with a ‘breathy’ vocal at the time. Also, I was keeping an eye on the keys, so not swerving the mic much, and probably catching more ‘breathiness’ than intended. I haven’t used the unit lately though, and can’t remember how readily the mic input can be gained/contained. Thanks for listening.
Good to see the red shirt out on show again, and that you mean business: time well spent the lab there, soothing sounds building up the pace of this short journey then letting the listener down gently again. Lots to like - More please!
This was a while ago, but I’m fairly sure I took the various outs into a Zoom R16 for recording and initial mixing - so yes, the Bastl had its own mix channel. Thanks for listening!
This is great! I've just picked up a 0-Ctrl for a decent price, to pair with my 0-Coast. If I can get these sorts of results, I'll be happy. I'm also eyeing up the Strega. Would you recommend it?
It works well for me alongside the 0-Ctrl and 0-Coast, but it definitely helps to have an ‘experimental’ outlook…! For me, it’s a keeper, and it takes me to places I wouldn’t otherwise reach. For you, check plenty of demos and make sure its sonics fit your vibe…
Punch drunk? This may be how a bad acid trip sounds. Certainly a journey to hear what things sound like out at one arc of the musical cosmos. That is if the musical cosmos conforms to Euclidean/ Netownian geometry.
