Ben and Dan Imrie were born and raised in Toronto, in the Yonge and Eglington area. They grew up cottaging on Acton Island (circa 1954), Lake Muskoka their entire lives until the family cottage was sold in 2006. They have spent every summer since, living on the Muskoka Lakes, now each raising families of their own enjoying the same values they grew up with while cottaging in Muskoka.

Haha 14 million and $20K a year in taxes…good luck 👍. Cottages were always the working families retreat in Canada, you could buy the land and build your own, now if it isn’t handed down it’s for elites.
😅 greetings from oakville Ontario thanks for the presentation my family has a cottage on an island retreat on lake of bays and the lifestyle is definitely different than being a landowner but I liked the 3 slip boathouse on lob u can't build these grand structures with living quarters above because of the grey water concerns
@@richardrogers7479 😂 nice. You obviously don’t understand landscaping. You deal with the Sap dripping onto the structure, animals, fire safety, not to mention the tree breaking and debris hitting the house, winter and the snow. Take it from someone who owns a gorgeous cottage with a beautiful thought out landscape design. I know what I’m talking about.
@@richardrogers7479 my favourite part about having a property is the landscaping I’ve done. The walkway and stairway down to the water. The way I’ve laid out the hose system so all I have to do, is turn the facet and a majority of the property gets water. The excess water runs down a waterfall I built. So the soil doesn’t get over soaked, the roots stay healthier. I can re use the water. I built a crows nest this summer with my son. Landscaping is intellectual living - but that’s just my opinions to each their own
So please explain to me how to access the island before the water freezes and before the ice melts? I know island life is different but I like the idea of complete privacy, any tips would be appreciated. Also is there hydro on these islands?
I have been by this luxurious boathouse numerous times a seadoo and its absolutely beautiful place especially the 3 slip boathouse thanks for the presentation
Having a cottage is definitely a different life style that requires how often can you go to the main land for groceries and making sure you are prepared for an emergency i know myself my family has a cottage on an island on LOB thanks for the presentation
False. They made the island look more beautiful and a place to visit. More people are able to come over and enjoy the island now. There is still plenty of untouched land on the island.
That ridiculously massive and monotonous armourstone retaining wall utterly decimates the organic landscape and topography; what a blight. What’s worse is that it looks like they blasted away the granite outcroppings to accommodate this feature, and possibly the residence itself. Totally insensitive to the natural beauty of the landscape. Moreover, the owner(s) must have removed dozens of trees and bulldozed virtually the entire property in order to build an artificial landscape, which detracts from the natural aesthetic and atmosphere of the environment. What’s the point in destroying the very things that make this area so alluring in the first place? I wish that they had chosen to respect and work with the natural landscape instead of transforming it into a garish hardscape-heavy eyesore.
Another gouged price for. A n/e no sun all day is this why there is no price mentioned by you. For that price you can’t put a railing on the stairs going to the dock. Price 4-5k
i saw this on mls earlier this week. got to say i was (and am) confused. nice cottage but >2 acre lot and 200ft frontage... lot faces ne for $7.4m is wow - a BIG ask. no boathouse, no guest cottage... at this price point i would have expected a muskoka full sized lot and a high end boathouse/guesthouse at minimum. even then maybe 6.5? i don't get it.
