One of my best friends is a dev for this game and he let me try it out on his PS5 Dev Kit. He showed me stuff that is not public, and I'm not allowed to talk about it. But let me just say, I'm definitely playing this game once it's fully released! Was quite a lot of fun to play!
Wow, nice review my dude. I'm currently on FO4 now and I started thinking that I love these type of games but the writing and RPG mechanics haven't been Bethesda's strong point for a while now. I was thinking about how to mod FO4 to make it more of an RPG, and 2 things came to mind: Fallout London (which I'm eager to try but am gonna wait a bit so it's a bit more stable), and that old Skyrim total conversion mod that had really good reviews when it came out and was said to be a bit better in the RPG department than the game it's running on lol So yeah every review I see fills me with more and more confidence that I'm gonna enjoy this one.
Thank you for the kind words! I recommend playing the Skyrim Special Edition version for Enderal for better stability. I’m also really excited to check out Fallout London, but I have no time!
Do you need subscription service like gamepasss and ps plus to play online? I’m trying to get back into this game but I don’t want to to make a purchase then Only be able to play local.
I had a soft lock where Cody got downed in the back garden by a zombie, i headed inside to see if i had a medkit, the only item that can revive Cody when downed, i didn't... and the game auto saved when i headed inside, so Cody was saved in the downed and dying state, having said that after restarting the run i'm still enjoying myself :)
Not expecting plot in a shooter? There are plenty of shooters with plot... I would expect one, unless told otherwise... Even DOOM 2016, the most shooter'y shooter lately, has quite a large amount of plot... it's just not important for the gameplay.
I guess maybe I should have worded better.. I fully agree with you. It’s not that shooters don’t have stories, some are even great. Just that that isn’t what the main focus is here and especially with this type of shooter I never expected it to be anyways. Comparing Doom 2016 and the original Doom, the distinction narratively is stark. While this isn’t OG Doom, it harkens back to an era more similar to that over 2016. IF that makes sense
@@fallinghurts Most games of Doom's era were plot light, but that was primarily due to very heavy tech limitations while still keeping the game fun. It was not because they didn't want to do plot, because they wrote a significant amount of it.
I wish more developers would re-visit mature renderers more. These old school graphics are timeless. I know there’s the 8-but look-alikes etc. but why they don’t just USE the actual engine they are imitating is beyond me. Especially since so many api translators are out now to enable them to work on modern hardware. I would love to see some new content using the Dark engine (Thief) for example. The newer sneak-em ups just don’t feel as good.
These are not old school graphics anymore. There are modern light shaders, and tons of other modern features. They are modern retro graphics... And there are TONS!!! of reasons why not to use "the actual engine". Updating an engine to work proper on modern hardware, and use the modern features that makes stuff run faster, is likely going to take a longer time than building up a new one. GZDoom is not even the Doom engine anymore. It is HEAVILY modified. In original Doom, the reason why you couldn't look up and down is because of the way the renderer handled walls. It simply wouldn't look right being able to look up and down, it couldn't handle it. And frankly, Thief doesn't play well mechanically in terms of the sneak and movement, which is why it focused on all the other mechanics to help with the sneaking. The reason why "newer sneak-em ups just don't feel as good", is because they are not made for the people that liked Thief (Like you), because the people that would like Thief today is a niche market, and you get more people by making it a bit more casual and fighty, like Styx or Dishonered. Maybe you should try Dishonored with a no-fight/kill run? Full 100% never seen run? It makes for an actual challenge, especially at higher difficulties, and it start feeling more like Thief, despite all the abilities.
@@SioxerNikita fair enough, we’ve all got our opinions I guess 🤗 I don’t buy triple A for many of the reasons you mentioned. I guess I’m just not a mass market customer. 👍🏻
@@adamuk5037 And that's totally fair, but the one important take way, DO NOT! use an old incredibly outdated engine, that doesn't run on modern hardware :P You are going to spend more times fixing bugs than doing stuff :P Think about how many hours of programming has been done on GZDoom to get it to this polished state. TONS!!!
Ey! Thanks for the review, very handy feedback. Glad you enjoyed the game. Especially with the gameplay itself, that was a particularly heavy focus of ours during development. As we make progress during Early Access, we'll be shoring up some of the issues with presentation. We've got plans to help break up the silhouettes of the Armilimax (bug faction).
The ability to have a horror levels, chase sequences, and full blown power trips all in one game is special. I love the flow and quality of the gameplay. You’ve struck the gold :)
The story is a slow burn, the characters suck until you get near the end of the story. The gameplay is equally bad. Lack of enemy variety, 4major bosses total, mediocre platforming, and yet you recommend the game and like it? Did I get that right 😂
@@fallinghurtsyeah I don't get it. Wtf does that have anything to do with enjoying the game? Just stupid comments with no objective or logical thought required. Great review!
I look back on this video and I’m proud that I’ve gotten so many people talking in the comments, but even I think I could’ve explained the actual ending better. It’s a deeply “human” experience
Really enjoyed this one. Agree with you that there should have been more documents to find. Aliens is also my favorite movie of all time, with The Thing a close second.
Obviously I made a whole video with the opposite opinion, but I respect it. I can see where someone would want more actual enemy encounters and a padded runtime for sure. Thanks for stopping by!
Thank you for the compliment! If I may, what about Still Wakes the Deep were you drawn to? The type of horror or something else? I could try and recommend more!
Was on the fence with this one - this video convinced me to take the plunge, especially since it's only $4 with the sale. Thanks for the great analysis!
no wonder it was so hard for me. like , there's a time where I have to choose 2 symptoms like whaaat, and i don't have anything to eat coz it don't rain and my water is running low and Cody constantly getting hungry
