I couldn't agree more about the ornamentation in the Adagio, doesn't need any more! Personally I would take it a bit slower, but who knows how Wilfired was feeling this day, it's all OK. He's obviously a superior organist.
Dear Wilfried, Thank you very much once again for this wonderful instructive video. You have succeeded in creating a magnificent masterpiece, musically, technically and visually, a pure pleasure in 54 minutes! Let us be aware that with our technical possibilities of historical retuning (a1=392 Hz, d'Alambert tuning) we can hear the organ as it probably sounded at the time of its construction and has never such been heard before in our time. For me, this work of love truly is an archive document!
Dear Helmut Thank you for the valuable comment, which I appreciate very much! Kudos to you for producing such a versatile sample set of these unique historic organs.
La mejor interpretación de todas cuántas vi, el sonido es espectacular y el organista tiene unas manos excepcionales, lo mejor de lo mejor, el tempo es perfecto al cien por ciento. Felicidades Wilfred
It seems like a big effort to be able to play a piece like this so I say very well done sir. This is a little slower than I am used to hearing it but I let it play at that speed and very much enjoyed it. Thank you. One recommendation I would make is when changing manuals (like at 0:55 elapsed for example), pause slighly to help the listener more easily identify a "transition".
There can't be many people in the world, even with it's billions now, who could manage to play the fugue. JSB knew exactly what he was doing when he left us this
Good tempo, I agree. The fuga is huge, one of the greatest from Bach. The choice of the stops is here interesting, in Germany mixtures are too often systematically used like sometimes for the Praeludium or the Toccata AND the following Fuga with the same registration, what can be boring. I am a bit surprised seeing that the main keyboard is the lowest one, like on the french organs. Jacques, from France.
Thank you! You may find more of my recordings on www.contrebombarde.com/concerthall/user/1640/uploads/view_all - This is a platform for recordings with the virtual pipe organ software and diferent sample sets : HAUPTWERK - enjoy!
I keep coming back to this, year after year after year. I don't know what Bach intended but for me this is just right. When someone plays it faster much of the beauty and magnificence is lost. Why hurry? It's four hundred years or so since it was written, what's the rush?
Sounds great to me but I think I must be a bit ignorant of music , judging from other comments. I have never heard a bad Bach recital! They all have their good and bad points.
Ben oui on est en Suisse...on joue lentement, un peu trop quand même.

Congratulations Mr. Wilfried Schetzler, the best performance of one of my favourite Bach's orgelwerkes. Thanks for share this video! Greetings from Mexico!
Every time I listen to this superb piece I find it almost incredible that anyone could have written it. Rock musicians eat your hearts out, it's all here, and all those centuries ago. What a genius
Efectivamente ahí está Jessica de Allman brothers, está el órgano de light my fire de Doors, está Jon Lord de Deep purple, en fin está todo el rock metido en esta genial pieza de órgano
