Remove the accessory belt. Unbolt the AC compressor (4 bolts) and pull forward/hang out of way (no need to disconnect any lines). Disconnect/drain 2 lines from ps pump. Remove the 3 bolts (one is hidden/recessed but very accessible with a deep socket) that hold the ps pump/ac bracket. Lower the bracket with the pump attached. Remove/replace pump on the bracket. So much easier. I bought my remanufactured pump for $30 and swapped pulleys with a $15 ps pulley puller from HF. Same procedure applies for replacing the alternator on this car. Just remove the bracket with the alternator attached (from underneath).
@@joeycarroll7311 very helpful... cos i was charged already by the mechanic unfortunately i did it myself by watching your video.... one thousand Rands is a lot in South Africa... thanks again
A couple weeks later I dropped the rear drive shaft again and replace the front U joint. This after I got myself a $50 bearing press. Of the 4 bearings on the front U joint, I noticed 1 of them was beginning to get rusty, so I'm glad I did it. I'm right at 200,000 miles at 20 years.
You definitely got the good out of it! My wife had a 2001 Yukon the someone hit her and totaled a little over a year ago, we were pushing 375,000 on it. Everything was all original, only tires and routine stuff. It still had the factory u-joints. The engine still had 60 psi oil pressure. We were going to see how long it would go! Keep it going, run it a long as you can:)
Thanks for taking the time to do this. My 02 Sierra is making the same chirping noise. I’ll be pulling my drive shaft soon to investigate/replace the U joints.
Just had to replace this on my 2009 Chevy Aveo. Glad I was a block from my daughter's house when it sprung a leak. Be aware that it also sets off all the gauges on your dash. Temp, tach, and it causes your car to be very sluggish. Thank you so much for this video. It was great to see what my mechanic is fixing. Now I know where to look.
Hello, it’s called a coolant pipe. I’ll have to go back and see what the part number was for the one I purchased. If you Google Chevy Aveo coolant pipe it will show you the results. I believe most of the year models are the same
Very excellent diagnostic work and a very nice video. I'm glad you found it so fast. One thing I had used to find squeaks and rattles was to wrap some tape around any suspect joints and see if the noise stops. I found a swaybar link bushing that way on a friend's car. Keep up the great work.
Fantastic. My 00 silverado made this chirp but only when 4wd was engaged. In 2wd no sound. I could've sworn the chirp was coming from driver cv joint and was about to replace bearing in the front dif. U joints I a much easier job! Thank you sir!
I have been having this chirping noise that happens from a dead stop and started off really faint and was intermittent. I been looking around for a video as well regarding the loud chirping issue. This is the best video I hand come across by far. Thank you kind sir for sharing!
my 2008 silverado 1500 5.3 4wd just started chirping today. the video i got sounds exactly like your chirping. such a great help, everything i had read on the chirping people were saying its an issue with the trans or belts or pulleys, but as someone who does work on vehicles i hadn't heard this sound before in my shop. thank you
I got this sound but it is coming from my front 4x4 differential/ 4x4 drive shaft area on my 2003 chevy silverado 1500 HD after I had put it in 4x4 it started doing it
Did yours make a grinding sound if you held the gas down but had just enough brake to barely roll forward/backwards? I’m having the same sound till 30 and popping started a couple weeks later.
Hahaha oh man had a good laugh when you pulled the cap off and there was all that rust. I like the way you inspected it to find the issue good thinking. Pretty sure my truck has a failing u joint sounds just like yours. I thought it was the brakes but I opened them all up and cleaned em out today looks fine. I’ll definitely be checking out the u joints tomorrow.
I replaced u joints in my silverado three times, each time making same noise a week after replacement. Doing it a 4th time. Figured out the problem. Drive shaft angles. If you have a high mileage vehicle replace your engine mounts and tranny mount. If they are worn out or failing it will throw off the drive shaft angles as weight loads are redistributed to compensate for the failing mounts. If the angles are even slightly off you will cause damage to the u joints.
Thank you for this video! My 03 chevy 2500hd is doing this same thing. I have replaced the mid shaft bearing and put it back together and it was still doing it. Probably going to be my center universal joint.
Thanks for the vid ! My 2005 chevy silverado is also doing the same only when I reverse i was going crazy thinking it’s the brakes or maybe the drop kit 😅
That pipe is very similar to the one that I had that failed on my 2000 Daewoo n u b i r a and I got the old one out but as far as getting my little bypass hose connected and which which is a third sprout off of the major big tube I'm going to have to do something like loosen the intake manifold or possibly attack it from the bottom or from the taking the passenger front tire and plastic fender protector off it's just a bear to get to be nice if they put a metal pipe down there eh, I had read that the Chevy optr and the Suzuki forenzo in Reno have similar and something called an Aveo have similar engines to that 2 Liter Daewoo engine which is basically a GM in an engine
