There's one section of Matthew 4 where Jesus came out from the wilderness and met Peter and Andrew, James and John. But in the Book of Luke, it starts with Andrew who was a disciple of John the Baptist. Then he found his brother Peter and brought him to Jesus. Were there two times that Jesus met Peter and Andrew?
They shouldn't. You're religion is a creepy cult, and evangelicals are the worst that "christianity" has to offer. Y'all are violent, mean spirited, and don't live even a little like the god you claim to worship, so much so that you should Pray your religion is wrong, cause if it's right, you lot will end up down in the pit with the rest of us godless heathens.
I have been contemplating that. I’m very weary about “jumping in clickable bandwagons” ya know. And want to be extremely careful and gracious. So I’m not sure. But I really appreciate you asking. If there’s a desire out there. I probably will.
Great points there Steve. One thing I would like to expand on with point number 2 about rejection. Sometimes your job in a particular situation may be to only plant a seed. While you may be rejected outwardly, you really have no idea of what the Holy Spirit is doing internally, and it may be further down the road that this seed becomes mature. You may not be the person to even see the benefit from the seed that was planted. :)
I primarily study the NKJV but will use the NASB, ESV, Amplified, CSB and NLT as cross references. It helps break down expand certain words or points. I have found value it them all.
Does John Macarthur have a Ph.d on Biblical studies? I think that he does not, there are far better Bible studies than MacArthur´s and the reformation study Bible which should be named "the Calvinist-zwinglian Bible" to be precise.
Ph.D? Biblical Studies? Would you say then...that nobody without an advanced degree in the whole of the Bible has anything valid to say about it? (That's what your comment sounds like.). Bart Ehrman has advanced degrees in History and the NT and he's an atheist? So I"m a little lost by your assertion.
This really made me think. You are right I know the words to most songs from the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s. So much so that I can tell the song within the first few notes but yet I only have 5 verses from the Bible memorized.
@@ClaimingChristianity you are basically removing the word "traditions" to create your own definition of that word. No wonder why Protestanism will have over 1000 denominations 😄
Well either way, a collection of authoritative writings needed an authoritative collection of these writings. So, Its sacred scriptures and traditions.
Jesus Christ, who is God in the flesh, wanted no one to die, so He gave His life so that anyone who believes in Him can have everlasting life. Romans 10:9 NET because if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
I started bible reading using the NIV 84 and bacame very familiar with it but I am Autistic and not whenever I read the NIV 2011 it is close enough to be familiar but when I come across something that has been changed it really rubs me up the wrong way and it affects a negative reaction. The most pleasant read is the NLT. The NET also triggers me because the text often contradicts other translations but the full notes are magnificent and explain why they made the chouces they did.
MacArthur is not Reformed. He does not hold to Covenant Theology nor does he subscribe to the Westminster or 1689 Second London Baptist Confessions. He is Calvinist and has a high view of Sovereignty of God etc. ESV Study Bible is much better than John MacArthur’s. Love MacArthur but I prefer the ESV Study Bible to his version. Ligonier’s Reformed Study Bible and NET Bible with notes are also excellent.
Would really appreciate Bible publishers to make more like this. Especially with different versions like the NLT or NIV. As someone reading the Bible for the first time it bothers me when there are bold headings telling me what the next section is about. I end up reading anticipating what the heading says instead of being present with God's Word as I feel Im intended to read it. Very difficult to find Bibles without all of headings and summaries. Its like if I were watching a movie and every minute someone is telling me in their own words what will happen in the next. It robs me of being immersed and feeling connected to the movie. Am I the only one that feels this way? If not, why is it so hard to find a basic, clean Bible for any of the newer translations? Forgive me for my rant. Im grateful to know this Bible exists thank you
Nope. But if someone doesn’t put precautions and guards in place…and make an effort…I’m guessing they’re not really all that sorry. We’re gonna sin. It’s gonna happen. But are we fighting against it? That speaks a lot.
Your presentation of the Catholic position is not correct, please check what the Catechism of the Catholic Church actually teaches on the canon of the Bible. r.c sproul said that the canon of the Bible is a FALLIBLE list of infallible books...so maybe the Bible has 60 books or 80, after all according to sproul the canon is a fallible list, it could be wrong...yes that is stupid.
@@anonimo-um2ng or we can take Jesus at His word ,”heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away”(Matthew 24:35). Based on this, I don’t think God would allow for any of His scriptures to be lost, He preserves His word. See also Isaiah 40:8. We can trust that we have God’s word, not because of councils or institutions, but because of the character of God.
@@TomPlantagenet 1) You quoted the Gospel of Matthew and Jesus rejects over and over both salvation by faith alone and OSAS. For example: do you have to avoid sexual sins SO THAT GOD DOES NOT SEND YOU TO HELL? Yes or No. It is a clear and simple question, so a simple yes or no will suffice. I will answer you with the Gospe of Matthew and an example of Jesus´clear rejection of salvation by faith alone and OSAS.. 2) Be humble: the Bible does not say anywhere how many and which are the Books of the NT. God used His Church´s catholic bishops and councils of the IV to give us that information. Nope. there were not protestants at that time.
@@anonimo-um2ng so I see you’re changing the topic. Any sin will send a person to hell. That being said, Jesus’s perfect sacrifice washes us from all uncleanliness. If a person is saved and they commit sexual sin when they go to hell? No. However that doesn’t give them carte blanche to do so. We are supposed to live godly lives. We don’t live godly lives so that God will accept us but we live godly lives because He has already accepted us. I don’t know why you’re veering off onto a different topic I guess you couldn’t prove me wrong on the original so he tried to pivot. That’s OK
One question: why the NT in your Bible has these coincidences with the Catholic Bible?: 1) the number of Books, 2) with the same names 3) in the same order? Why your NT is identical to the Catholic Bible? The answer is simple: God decided to give us the list of Books of the NT through catholic councils and catholic bishops in the IV century (councils of Hippo and Carthage). And the word Bible is not anywhere in the Bible. The first to use it to name the Sacred Scriptures was saint John Chrysostom a catholic bishop according to NT scholar F.F. Bruce, yes the Bible is so catholic. I love your Bible study reviews.
@@ClaimingChristianity May Jesus bless you more, it is a joy to watch your Bible studies reviews and I expect to watch of them, and congratulations for your wife and children a sign of God´s love for you and that you really love Him.
I wouldn’t say God gave the Bible through church councils, I would say that God gave the Bible by the Holy Spirit through the apostles. Church councils recognized them but they were used for centuries before the councils by God’s people. Jesus says that “My sheep hear My voice”, so it stands to reason that Gods people hear His voice in scripture. To credit councils for the Bible would be like crediting Isaac newton for giving us gravity. He didn’t, he merely discovered or recognized it. Finally, it’s really hard to say that the ancient church was Catholic as many of its teachings and structures were not existent in the fourth century. There is no pope as it is seen today for centuries after Peter. The sacrements and transubstantiation don’t become doctrine until 1215. In fact, there is no sarcedotal priesthood in the New Testament. So the early church and the Catholic Church are vastly different.
@@TomPlantagenet You give your calvinist take when you wrote this: "Jesus says that “My sheep hear My voice”, so it stands to reason that Gods people hear His voice in scripture" what you wrote is a half truth rejected by history: luther, the father of protestantism REJECTED the inspiration of Hebrews. James, Jude and Revelation and other protestants added 2 Peter, I guess luther was not God´sheep and there where local churches in the first centuries who rejected these books also and this is why the Councils were necessary to give us the Canon yes guided by the Holy Spirit.
@@anonimo-um2ngLuther referred to James as an “epistle of straw” not meaning that it wasn’t inspired but that it had a lower importance than, say, the Gospels or Pauline Epistles. He didn’t say it wasn’t inspired nor did he try to remove it, only that he thought it was of lesser importance than other books. The same goes for the other books you name. Yes, there were issues even in the early church over certain books, that doesn’t mean that they didn’t hear Christ’s voice. No one is infallible and, yes, well meaning believers can get things wrong. Now athanatius listed 27 books decades prior to a canon meaning that the New Testament was established before any council pronounced it. I understand many Catholics take refuge in their organization with it’s hierarchy, but the fact remains that the canon is of God with His people recognizing it-not creating it.
Yep. I actually don't agree with his view on eschatology and Israel. But I can learn a lot about scripture from that. MacArthur is a dispensationalist. I'm really not. But I still think he's one of the greatest theological minds of our generation.
This is one of our go to translations when verse mapping. It definitely helps when there could be a difference in the translations between 2 to 3 versions to see what their opinion was on that exact scripture.
Do you have an example page of a spreadsheet with the Bible Chapters etc, cause I have no CLUE what you're talking about The Bible generator thing sounds like it might be fun too. I'll check it out and see
What is Deuterocanonical? Why it the normal plan Genesis 1-3, and the Deuterocanonical plan Genesis 1-4 (they're different for all the chapters; what does it mean)?
Second canon. The deutrocanonical texts are not scripture. The Roman Church includes them in the Bible. Also know as the apocrypha. Basically extra writings and books added by Rome at the Council of Trent. Interesting to read. But again…those texts are NOT Gods Word.
