This is a cool mechanical figure. The amber orange face canopy reminds me of Zoids. Cool review of this rare figure I haven't seen in a long time and forgot about since then. Thanks, Mike!
I didn’t do any research like I normally do (sometimes I like a mystery) but I think in Japan Zoids and Starriors were somehow connected. Both were Tomy. Glad you liked it! I like showing that there were other cool toys besides gi Joe, motu, and Star Wars back in the day.

@@BlackTerror Cool! I still have my Verbot too from 1985. It doesn't move but the red on button lights up. The gears broke down over time from not being used.
Sounds good enough to me in crap utoob quality to purchase. Haven’t heard this album for many many years. And I’m thinking the late nineties probably 😂. When I revisit Priest it’s all about Sad Wings, Sin and Stained. 😎🤘🔥
@@Mike-aka747 it’s definitely the version to revisit and keep in your collection. It’s the best quality version of the album but I fell for the hype that they it was going to blow my mind and be a totally different experience.

I wasn’t too blown away by it but it’s a must buy for me. Amazon only has the vinyl up for preorder. I haven’t looked around anywhere else because it’s so far off but I want the cd. Records are just collectibles to me since I don’t have a good player.
They should have kept Mark Huff the way they dumped him sucked. He had the voice. Love QR good review Terrified and Down to the Bone are lost gems I am glad I got them both on cd.

@@BlackTerror definitely look into them. They have a long history. They toured with priest back in the 80's. Also check out some of the old footage with Ripper and priest. The live in London DVD is required viewing.
@@LordVulcan93 I want the new album Accept has out. Luckily I live near the only music store for miles and miles and I'm taking a trip hoping they have it or maybe a compilation. I actually have the Live in London DVD. First DVD I ever bought. I liked Ripper then and thought he raised his game since. The Live Meltdown CD is my favorite Priest Live album. Loved the heavier/thrashier takes on older priest songs.
It is good. I especially like the live versions of it. I would have saved it for Condition Critical but you need to give a good bonus for some B-Sides to sell some singles.

For a casual listener I’d say give Point of Entry a try. It’s 80’s pop metal. It doesn’t go to heavy and all the songs are catchy without going silly like on Turbo.
Also if you are into offshoots of Deep Purple check out Captain Beyond’s first self titled album and their second Sufficiently Breathless. Rod Evans on vocals. A very good band and two different sounding albums with the 1st being heavier
I’ve actually heard the first one. Don’t have a physical copy but I liked it. Warhorse with Nick Simper is great. He basically did his own version of In Rock with a new band.
Hey if you are a completist DP fan look for Purple Passages (a double studio album) which is a best of Mach I - though it’s missing a couple of key tunes it’s a great album.
There’s a flea market I go to that always has it on vinyl. It’s never at a good price though. I do have The Best Of Deep Purple on record which is a single LP of the early years and Best of the early years cd which is a budget import. Even though I have all the studio albums I still like collecting compilations for some reason.
The album does little for me. Ezrin’s production and mixing has taken the power out of Purple. Nothing memorable about this album. I like your take on Airey - he has alot to do with the change in DPs sound (both good and bad). Ironically, Airey suits Morse much better. Airey cannot or doesn’t produce that heavy growling Hammond sound which is why this album fails trying to return to simplicity and the “classic” sound. Airey can’t match Lords power and rhythm organ sound but he does bring other sounds which makes Bananas/Now What great. Even Whoosh’s songwriting overcomes the poor production by Ezrin (except for Man Alive - which is the type of song where Ezrin shines)
I actually like Don Airey’s sound because no it’s not growly and mean sounding like the 70’s but it’s more synth oriented like perfect strangers and house of blue light. It’s like a continuation of his stuff if Difficult to Cure with Rainbow. Strangely DP used to play Difficult to Cure live on their last few tour with Blackmore but now that Don is in the band and it makes more sense to play it, they don’t.
I share your thoughts about the album. One month after release I can't listen to it anymore, mostly because of Ezrin and Airey. Those two and the new guitarist ruined DP for me.

Even though I don’t mind Bob Ezrin’s production I think using him for the last decade made every album too much the same. Strange thought I had. When I first heard Whoosh I thought it was great but could have sounded a little better if it was more atmospheric like Pink Floyd’s Momentary Lapse or Division Bell albums then I remembered Ezrin did those too! He should have looked up his old notes. I’ll probably never do conference video. Most videos I make now are totally on the fly made during lunch. It would be funny to do a metal version of that old SNL bit with Dana Carvey yelling at everybody on a panel. “Wrong!”
Give ABandOn another listen. At first I rejected it probably because it was rough - She Was / Seventh Heaven/ Watching the Sky. However, the production is equal to In Rock with that crunchy Hammond organ. Plus Morse’s guitar work is stellar. His work on Seventh Heaven is amazing. Jack Ruby is Gillan at his best with that great separation of organ and guitar. ‘69 is a crazy riff and should have been a must in their live set. Check out the Live at Montreux version with Steve playing it with a broken L wrist Could have done without Don’t Make Me Happy (Gillan screws it up) and Bludsucker remake.
That album has a good chance of growing on me. Purple is the one band forever present on my limited storage iPhone 7. I’ve long burned out on the classics like Machine Head and Perfect Strangers so I’m always revisited the the lesser known albums that aren’t burned out on me. That’s probably why I love stuff like Slaves and Masters, Bananas, and House because I haven’t heard stuff from them played out live to death. Even my underrated favs are getting stale so in order to get my fix I dig deeper and ABandOn is due for another listen.
Oh and Battle Rages On was the death knell for Mach II. Horribly produced. Machine Head In Rock Purpendicular Burn Come Taste the Band Now What Bananas Infinite Whoosh WDWTWA ABandOn Fireball Rapture of the Deep Deep Purple House Blue Light Stormbringer Perfect Strangers =1 Shades of Book of …. Battle Rages On Ezrin is ruining the DP sound - he has taken the power out of Purple particularly in Whoosh. That album needs to be remixed and remastered and Don Airey needs a slap on the back of his head and told the Hammond rhythm can go below middle C

Perfect Strangers other than the song is by far the most disappointing and overrated DP album. House if Blue Light far more interesting. I’m sorry you don’t bring in a Rainbow singer particularly JLT and call it DP. Rather it was a Rainbow album that highered the rhythm section of DP to make a good Rainbow album (middle of the pack Rainbow - nobody beats Dio)
@@teec3557 I love the controversial takes. But Gypsy’s Kiss and Knocking at you back door kick ass too. I always believed Rainbow was Deep Purple except in name because musically Rainbow picks up where Stormbringer leaves off and the sound on Bent out of Shape is continued on Perfect Strangers. To me it always sounded like the same band going through lineup changes. Bringing in JLT and later Don Airey just solidified that DP was what whatever Blackmore was doing and retroactively made Rainbow canon.
First of all you might be the best guy on the internet to talk DP because you don’t kiss ass except for Blackmo’s ever so slightly. As far as PS album. Great expectations- didn’t meet it. Blackmore’s guitar sound changed - more abrasive and lacked the sweet tone of his former self. Songs: Perfect Strangers - a classic Knocking at Your Back Door - it’s sounds better than it is. Something misses the mark but good song Gypsy’s Kiss: agree Nobody’s Home: filler/not very good Mean Steak: embarrassing. Sounds like an Alice Cooper outake from School’s Out Under the Gun: ok to good Hungry Daze: almost unlistenable. Gillan’s vocal lines horrible. It’s a poor attempt by RB on this Eastern theme. Rapture of the Deep is light years better Wasted Sunsets: good but sounds unfinished I get the impression DP fans feel obligated to say this album is great because it was Thee Great Reunion. House of Blue Light was far more interesting Bananas minus Razzle Dazzle (which is embarrassing- that’s all Gillan) is a great album
I would say the soundboard show with Ace and Eric Singer is the best of the bunch. The 1977 show is fun but a bit rough to listen to. Haven't listened to the St John show yet. Might just stream it
It’s definitely worth a stream for the novelty of listening to St John’s minute in the lineup. Unless your a big cd collector it’s not really essential. I think the soundboard series isn’t really about putting out great live albums but more about hearing a curiosity to analyze.
Thanks for the sub! Queen and Floyd started out as my two favorite bands and have been undefeated since. They’re both basically how I view how a band should be. I’ll think stuff maybe unfairly like “Radiohead is good but they should really lean into sounding more like Floyd and then they would be better”.
1980's?! I had this toy way earlier than that... (1960's...) I think it Gumby was around in the late 1950's and early 1960's... I had that figure more than once as well as Pokey... Your right, Lakeside Toys made one in 1965. I don’t know how long it was produced but the basic design was brought back in the 80’s when Gumby made his big revival.

The "guitar solo" you mentioned is Paul, not Mark. Great review otherwise!!!! I honestly really liked Mark's playing. I think he killed it on some of the songs, especially Young and Wasted!!
That clears it up. I thought the solo was a little basic for a shredder like mark. Weird then that they didn’t let him do a showcase but I guess thy were being cautious of a new guy after Vinnie Vincent showboating.
Always good to watch AC/DC ranking videos, and hear different opinions. I am so pleased you rate Blow Up Your Video and the awesome track Two's Up - very underrated, and should be higher on most people's lists! That said, I think Powerage is one of the best AC/DC albums, and I also think Power Up is probably the best album they have done since The Razor's Edge, particularly considering the circumstances in which it was recorded. Bit of a controversial opinion, I know, but I actually think Back in Black is a Bon Scott album, they just had to get Brian in to sing it. It has Bon all over it, and the latter albums just don't sound the same. But, as I say, just an opinion...
Glad somebody else loves Blow up Your Video. To me, the 80's stuff is very underrated. If any of those albums came out as is post 2000, they would have been better received because they mostly spank all the albums that did come out in that time. Controversial opinions on rock are always welcome here but I don't think its too out of line to think there might have been some overlap in writing sessions with Bon on Back in Black. They might have been writing riffs thinking of his voice, riffs might have been kicking around a while, etc.
There's another live album with Kiss. The Psycho Circus tour edition had a bonus cd with live material with Ace and Peter. No, it wasn't the full show but If you are a completist that's a must have, with their greatest line up as well.
That edition is a rare one and I actually don’t have a physical copy of Psycho Circus. I don’t think I’ll find that in the wild and eBay prices on it are too high. Kiss was always one of those bands I could find just about everything in a few trips to the record stores. Now even them, Iron Maiden, and AC/DCare hard to collect. I’m hoping in the next few years cd’s become trendy collectibles like vinyl has and music collecting goes back to normal.
@@BlackTerror I actually saw that one (Psycho Circus tour edition) at a charity shop the other day but I didn't buy it since I have no place for storage right now. I am going to move so I started to pack and everything's a mess. Here (Sweden) nobody want to have cd's now so you can find tons at charity shops costing under 1 dollar each. Also of course rock and metal among them. Cd's are dying...that's not good for the future. You can't even buy cd players anymore. But I am wise here: I have three at home, one for now and two for larer........

Interesting. A true dark horse, WDWTWA at #3. House and Slaves I see the low ranking even though I like them but I'm always baffled by Battle when it gets ranked low. I love it and I'm not the only one but It's also got its fair amount of detractors for an album I think personifies their classic sound.

@@andrerock4832 Controversial opinion.... I'm not that big on Made In Japan! It's their best selling and most well known live album but I find it flat. The Japanese crowd is notoriously subdued and the songs are too new at the time so nobody is singing along. That said, the countless live albums since then is a variation on the setlist from it so I respect it.

I always thank everyone for posting a list so THANK YOU! I love to analyze them. Nice and varied. Your not too biased to any one era. Shows your a real fan who enjoys the whole journey of their discography. I'm heartbroken two of my favorites are on you bottom, Battle and Book. Looks like your not a fan of Mark 1 at all though which i understand because its so far from what we know as DP. But, the title track on Battle though kicks so much ass! Made me curious to where you placed Slaves and Masters buts not on the list.
Mach I is an unsual beast. Have some great songs: Kentucky Woman/Hush/Help/April/Chasing Shadows/Wring that Neck. The best of Mach I makes a great album I just can’t do JLT in Purple. It’s the optics. If JLT was an uknown and not associated with RB and Rainbow I would be less biased
The Ezrin albums are very close. Whatever way the wind blows that day affects my rankings. Whoosh! I listened to most recently so it got top honors. I forgot to mention Apres Vous in the video. Should still be in the live setlist!

For Bananas , i liked it in the beginning , then there music changed for more serious songs , that's why it's in the bottom of the list . For Crimes , i didn't think it was a Purple album , but it's damn good album , maybe ranked after Rapture !

I almost missed your nice words here! I had you in my mind to keep on working on Indy because you were probably the only one who remembered I was working on this project. Couldn't let you down! If I had a time machine, my goal would be small but extremely focused. I always wanted to be featured in Toyfare magazine. There's better sculptors and painters than me but nobody nuts enough to make the whole figure from scratch. It sucks that magazine went belly up because I figured it out 20 years too late! Indy's knee joints and gun holster alone would have been undeniable to get printed. BALLS! I love the idea of the Collapsing Bridge playset. WTF Kenner? They couldn't give us one new vehicle or nothing? A Well of Souls style small playset like Temple of Doom would have been sweet too. It could have a little cage that lowers into a pit. My finger healed pretty good but it's not mint condition. It's faint but it is the nerdiest scar anybody could ever have which is a story I can tell forever now! Although I wish I knew how to design figures and print them 3D with a computer, I'm not a big fan of them either. I bought a Super Powers Custom off Etsy and thought it sort of sucked. I do wish I could scan my stuff though and let other people download them. I'd be scared to death of having Harrison Ford see my figure. I know it was all jokes but the video of him smashing the lego Millenium Falcon in front of that fan would have me shaking in my boots. I'm glad you finished Talia. It doesn't matter how long it takes to finish, as long as you do! You can't put a timetable on art.
I grew up listening to Deep Purple, love them to bits. But lets be real here... anything after "The Battle Rages On" is totally forgettable (which did not stop me buying all these albums by the way) Here is what happens: I am getting exited that they release a new album, pre-order, listen to it once and shelve it. By the way I played "Abandon" recently and it kind of grew up on me... but not by much.
While I like all the Blackmore-less albums, my top 3 are the only ones that I play regularly. I know I could make a playlist myself but I’d love it if they put out a greatest hits of this era. Something to condense this era. Give me something to collect and give it some official weight. They dump all the songs after the tours so maybe they’d feel more special on a compilation. Abandon is getting a lot of love in this comment section. I might need to revisit it. Maybe it’ll finally grow on me too.
Morse era music Purple is the best. I’m older and grew up with Mach II during my hormonal teen age years so it’s in my blood. But as I get older the Morse Purple is far more interesting and complex. Musically on fire. Bananas/Purpendicular/What Now/Whoosh (though Ezrin’s mixing and production suck on this album) are great. The song and guitar work on Birds of Prey on Infinite is mind blowing. = 1 is meh. Poor Man’s attempt at Mach II without the heavy Hammond/ too much synthesizer and forgettable riffs
@@teec3557 I find =1 a better version of Abandon. A simple heavier album but with a little more enthusiasm. It does look a little weak though after how they somehow raised their game 50 years in with Whoosh! They're easily putting out the best stuff by any classic rock band.

I know this is an older video, but how long does the armor all solution last? Is it permanent, or do you have to continuously reapply the armor all? Thank you in advance.
@@matthewparker1655 I just checked Gadget out because he’s sitting on my shelf. The armor all held up pretty good. He’s got a minor stickiness right now so it’s not permanent but it’s been 4-5 years since I made that video. The plastic unfortunately is always in a state up breaking down making the surface tacky. Cleaning with armor all restores the figure back to a non gummy shine but the chemical breakdown just starts again, but it takes a while. I consider armor all a maintenance you have to do every few years.
Abandon is the true masterpiece of the Morse era, a unicum from beginning to end as were In Rock & Perfect Strangers (even if very different), the first 3 albums of the Morse era innovative and beautiful, then the last 4 with Steve boring, flaccid with Gillan who struggled to find winning vocal lines and talked too much.... with =1 we finally returned to a more direct and melodic hard rock and also Gillan was more facilitated in writing beautiful vocal lines
@@gideonlapidus8996 Purpendicular has some better songs than Abandon, but also some weak songs. Abandon doesn't have any weak songs, the average is higher.
Agree but Abandon doesn’t do it for me. The new album is also meh. Too much synthesizer/ songs are too short. It’s a poor man’s MachII. That’s what made Purple great with Morse - they morphed into an interesting incredibly musical band. Purpendicular is imo #3 Purple album behind Machine Head and In Rock. Bananas is a hidden gem (minus Razzle Dazzle)
Ted the Mechanic is my favorite Morse era song from my favorite album from his era. They will probably never perform that song live again, at least not with the new guy.
I know they got to play the big hits like Smoke, Hush, Perfect Strangers, etc because that’s the stuff everybody knows and wants to hear but when they play Mary Long or No One Came in recent years that only the hardcore fans would know I feel take up the spots the big songs from the Morse era like Ted The Mechanic or Sometimes I Feel Like Screaming should be played.
Are you from New York? It's cool to know that people listen to Deep Purple there. I always thought the band was huge worldwide but never got the credit they deserve in the US. Nice list! Purpendicular is also my favorite post-Blackmore album. I was a bit disappointed when Abandon was released, but "Seventh Heaven" is one of my favorite songs from the Morse era. New Album is good, Bleeding Obvious is my favorite. Regards from Brazil.
Yeah, I’m from New York. If you check the older videos I was in Massachusetts for a while. My fellow Purple and Rainbow fans are far and few between here. DP plays much smaller venues in America and don’t get the recognition they do worldwide. I watched the DVD that came with the new album and realized they still play the big European arenas. I also looked up their chart positions and their albums still are top 10 around the world. Every time they put out a new banger everybody thinks they’ve retired years ago.
Gonna give these latter day Purple albums a chance. Two listens whether it’s on Amazon or Spotify or here on boo tube. Gave Bananas the 2 listens this past weekend in between a heavy dose a seventies Trower albums and you are right man, this album kicks ass!! I’m buying this one now 🤘 impressive album.
I’m so glad I turned somebody on to this album. Totally underrated, even by the band. “I got your number” is one of my favorite DP songs. “Haunted” is too. I notoriously don’t like When a Blind Man Cries, but if Ian Gillan wants to sing a ballad every night, play that one.
@@BlackTerror only a couple weaker tracks which is fine by me. But the rest is good. Ian has always been good w/ ballads. My favorite of his is with Sabbath on the title track born again. This video you did is so timely too. Peculiar question for you. Have you ranked Zeppelin albums yet?
@@Mike-aka747 This might be controversial, and it might make for a good video but I'm not a Zeppelin fan. There's always somebody in my friend group, co-worker, whatever always talking about how they're the greatest and it's always turned me off to them. I actually love LZ II, and have LZ III, ZOSO, Houses of the Holy but never loved them. I never really liked Stairway (Kashmir is better) and if you ever seen the LZ plagiarism videos where they show where Page stole everything but the kitchen sink it ruins any magic they had to me.😟😟😟
@@BlackTerror Would still be interesting to see a Led Zeppelin worst to best with you just because you have (probably, I am guessing) heard the 9 LZ albums and can do an interesting video NOT beeing a fan. 😜 Plagiarism aside, you still got to do it sound great. 😀 Which they did. 🎵
@@piotrlangtvedt Yeah, I actually have heard the 9, without even trying, mainly from other people's stereos. I did do a Metallica list and I only liked half their albums.
