I don't know why you would speak ill of the public defender. He cut his client off to mitigate the damage and tried to rush things along, most likely so the judge would not consider her comments. Requesting mental health, whether needed or not is a way to tell the judge, my client doesn't know what she's saying. We need a reset. I worked in the system for years and had a family member go through. We were going to take up a collection to hire an attorney, but I told everyone to wait until we see who he was assigned. When I saw who he was assigned, I told him not to worry. If everything he said about the event was truthful, he'd be home soon. The next court day, his bond was set and he was released. 2 weeks later, he got a notice from his attorney about his upcoming appointment. He told him that his story checkout, don't bother coming to court, the charges are being dismissed with prejudice.
She got 180 days because she’s guilty not because she told the truth. She got a bit because she thought she was smarter than everyone else in the room too.

When you can’t even go to school, complete your education and have a job, don’t make children! That would substantially increase the odds that you will not end up dependant on others, be insolvent and /or under a huge burden of responsibility for children or end up in prison!
