I'm Cameron. My family of 7 (plus a dog, cat, and chickens) and I are located in Southern California (USDA grow zone 9b). We've fallen in love with gardening and fruit trees over the past several years and have begun sharing our passion, experience, as well as our successes and failures here on The Busy Gardener channel. Our main goal is to the mystery out of growing fruit trees and other DIY home related projects. Thanks for watching!
It's a bit misleading to say that you can prune a nectarine any time. If you prune after it goes dormant for the winter, you may be removing the buds that will give fruit when it awakes. If you want to shrink your tree, best to prune in late summer so it has time to produce more buds for next year.
Sept 20 2024 o have apple trees blooming now. They didn't bloom in spring Did get apples last year tho. Not sure what's the issue. I watered them all spring and summer.
I tell people all the time that fruits and vegetables don't grow with specific spacing in nature. That's from tomatoes, peppers, to fruit trees. Your video has been helpful!!
I'm not sure! Mine turned out to be a Namwah, which has turned out ok because Namwah is reportedly better than true Ice Cream (Blue Java). You might search online for cultures of verified Ice Cream
I live in south arkansas and i planted some assorted fruit trees they bloomed in the spring and produced some plums but now its the end of sept and its new blooms on it. So i guess i need to go pick the blooms off so it will produce this spring. Thanks for the video.
@@TheBusyGardener I got it done. I was worried cause it says it's a assorted plum tree so I wasn't sure if it was a later crop or not. It doesn't get too.cold here every fee winters we will get some ice.
Initially was annoyed waiting over 4 minutes to get to the seven mistakes (I’m impatient, sue me 😂). But the content was so clear and valuable I made comprehensive notes for my first fruit tree pruning season. Thank you so much!
Im sorry before they banned seeds from carribean my parents planted 4 different fruits from haiti. They all grew. And the haitian mangos tasted the same.
My namwah is fruiting and surrounded by 7 more not so baby babies , it’s at the bottom of a hillside orchard that receives a lot of rotting produce + chop n drop, was thinking it should have enough nutrients for the whole family, but most suggest no more than 5 per a clump and transplant the rest… it’s in loose soil so I’m worried I’ll damage if I start dividing or clump fall over 🤷
Hey, Florida zone 9b here. I'd say the easiest thing for me to grow here has been starfruit. We have enough pests here with leaf miners, aphids, and snow scale for citrus. And then there's greening and canker, so I don't consider it to be an easy thing to grow, but it's probably because they're all in pots.
I used to live in Florida. The reason you have all those pests that like citrus, it's because that is what they are growing the most of. It spreads more easily when there is more of it in an area.
Unfortunately while pruning the older peach tree, the tree behind it made it hard to see exactly how much improvement you were making by pruning the size of the tree. I love what you were doing, I have several peach trees that didn’t get pruned enough last year, so I was looking for a video to help me prune my peaches. Also, thanks for the description of fruiting vs vegetative wood. Great job!
Had a nursery for 35 years. Do not buy fancy ....thee best most durable trees i planted .Ubileen pear, Korean Pear, Liberty apple, Italian Prune. All round winners.
how do you transplant a dragon fruit plant from store bought to a trellis? It comes as a plant and do you break it up and plant on all sides? thts a video that is worth watching
Avocado pasta. Cook pasta. Mix in cream, gratted parmasan, mashed avocado, lemon juice and lemon zest. Mix and enjoy. Optional addition of chicken and peas.
I notice that my Orange trees are dropping leaves on main branches with tons of suckers appearing close to base of tree or branches. How do I remedy this problem. Trees are 40 years old this year.

If you only have a small garden and one or two trees and don’t want to use sprays just spend 5-10 minutes every day going round yo ur trees and pluck of by hand every curling leave you see and dispose of all the leaves, if you are vigilant and do this every day you will only get 1/3 of a bucket or even less, later in the season the problem just seems to largely go away. Must be done every day while the problem persists, the tree will easily replace any leaves you remove.
