Nice Glock! I chased the triggers in my Gen 3 - Gen 4 Glocks for years. After a while, I realized that comparing actually shooting vs slowly pressing the trigger to emphasize every iota of the range of the trigger is not time well spent. I guess my curiosity might be somewhat ill-informed, but if (in the rare chance this can happen with a drop directly on the muzzle), what's to stop it from potentially happening while advancing a new round into the chamber from the mag? One could assume that the force of the slide closing with the spring tension would be similar to a "drop" and could potentially cause forward motion of the firing pin/striker. My CS has some pretty stiff recoil spring tension, since I've only put 300-400 rounds through it so far. I'm sure over time, the action will break in a bit more with less spring tension. But you're right: this is definitely something that will sit in the back of my mind as a potential failure point of an otherwise perfect handgun. The majority of my collection of handguns (1911's included) are all drop-safe with a firing pin block. I certainly don't anticipate ever dropping my CS muzzle-down, but it does make me think about the force of the slide closing, also. I haven't had any failures with regular shooting, so it's a small concern, but it definitely leads to a bit of curiosity on my part. I certainly will want to expand my Staccato collection in the future with at least a C and potentially a P, so it'd be nice to have some clarity on the "drop" issue as time moves forward and if it is a legitimate concern or not.

I'm not saying it's better, but just as reliable. That includes 2 Colts. I live in the Hartford area and have a soft spot in my heart for Colt 1911's. I've bought expensive cars brand new that had to go back to the dealer 2-3 times before things got ironed out. The bottom line is shit happens and sometimes great companies turn out a less than usual product. So, anyone that sees this video and has their heart set on a Dan Wesson, I say buy it and enjoy it! @@johnstokes7797 I bought it around 2020 if my memory is correct so I dont think it would be affected. I get what you're saying about bringing it to a smith and having them work it over. My issues with that though is that this is roughly a $2000 firearm and I think the company should fix the issue for free. Same thing happened with my Alchemy. Super easy fixes but for a $5000 firearm it should be spotless. Just my opinions though.

I have to disagree with the fundamental premise of the question. The P226 is not one of the greatest combat handguns ever devised. One might be able to make that argument in 1985, but ever since the proliferation of polymer framed duty style pistols, the P226 is floating in a bit of a no man's land. The primary arm being your long gun, the sidearm gets carried a lot but used very little. Using a 1.2kg brick of steel in that role is simply a waste of loadout capacity which could be allocated for more useful equipment while substituting one of the dozens of polymer frame pistols on the market without suffering a significant deterioration in performance. On the other hand, you'd expect an increase of performance for all that weight which you're really not getting with the P226. Thanks to its relatively high bore axis, it shows a surprising amount of muzzle flip for its weight and really doesn't shoot any better than say a Walther PDP at just over half the weight. And even as far as bullseye accuracy goes, neither the W.German made P226 pistols nor the US made ones usually show significantly better dispersions than the roughly 4-5cm/25m you can expect from your average duty gun.
@ArmadilloArmament
@ArmadilloArmament 24 дня назад
Interesting take. If you had watched the video, you’d know I didn’t claim the P226 is definitively the best handgun ever created. I just discussed its features and history. Comparing it to a completely different polymer striker-fired gun is ridiculous. The P226’s trigger, recoil impulse, ergonomics, reliability and pedigree clearly outweigh many other options. There doesn’t need to be a single 'best' gun; some, like the P226, remain relevant and effective even if other options like a Glock might be considered 'better' by some. Maybe try actually watching the content before criticizing.

@@thatsquidwardfeel5567 One of. Just to be clear, you dont agree with that?
@thatsquidwardfeel5567
@thatsquidwardfeel5567 23 дня назад
@@ArmadilloArmament No, I don't. I think that while the P226 is a fundamentally sound pistol design, its full steel construction comes with a weight penalty that is way disproportionate to its performance characteristics - which are, in the grand scheme of things, good but not remarkably so. It shoots as straight as any other duty handgun. It's very reliable and durable, as are a dozen others. Granted they have way better triggers than any of the popular striker fired guns including the PDP - with the downside of being DA/SA, which frequently seems to be an issue with people who get little trigger time, i.e. your average armed forces member. There's just no particular task or use case for which the P226 would be an obvious short list contender in a military setting. Side arm to a rifle? With it being dead weight 99.9% of times, you're far better off with something lighter so you can use the saved weight on other gear that's actually useful. Matter of fact you could take any of those polymer wonder nines, slap a light and reddot on it and still come in under the weight of a naked P226. Offensive handgun? That concept was tried and went nowhere. Sooo... What exactly makes it "one of the greatest combat handguns ever devised"? Historically it was less of a revolutionary next step as much as it was the last flare-up of the all-steel handgun. A dead end without any subsequent breakthrough developments grounding on the P226 specifically. The Browning-Petter-SIG-System was already 10 years old and established (the P220 entered service with the Swiss army in 1975, the Glock 17 with the Austrian army in 1982) by the time the 226 came out, and it taking the world by storm was overwhelmingly due to Glock's success, not SIG's. The US army didn't care, they had just adopted the Beretta 92 over the P226. Even if we include the civilian setting, where do you see it being used at the very top end? Not in Bullseye, because it's not accurate enough. Not in practical shooting, because the muzzle flips too much thanks to the massive slide and high bore axis. Rarely in carry applications because it's a brick.

It seems you're one of those people who likes to write lengthy comments using words you barely understand. Honestly, it feels like you're relying on something like chat gpt to generate these hollow responses. Once again, watch the video. I never mentioned weight distribution on a kit or claimed that a handgun is essential on the modern battlefield (It is). My point was that the P226 has significant advantages over many other firearms like glocks, m9's, hk's, etc. Furthermore, countless professionals and special operations units worldwide would strongly disagree with your take. Maybe go up to one of them and tell them their handgun selection sucks and tell me how that works out. And if a couple of ounces really make that much of a difference to you, maybe it's time to hit the gym so it doesn’t impact delicate, supple. soy boy physique. Im done arguing with you, I love discussing guns with people, but discussing any topic with someone that is so confidently incorrect is a pure waste of my time. If you're so convinced the P226 is terrible, feel free to start your own RU-vid channel and shout your opinions into the void. Good luck bucko.

I get what you’re saying here, but a few things. Qualified pricing is $560 and even for non-mil/lLE the street price is $645 everywhere. It’s not really fair to quote a MSRP that literally nobody actually pays. Trijicon prices this way because of how Agency/DOD contracts are written, which requires a certain discount below MSRP to be purchased with tax dollars anyway. People quoting this fantasy MSRP are really just spreading misinformation because nobody paid that much for this. Second, Trijicon designed this optic with a certain philosophy of use which is completely understandable. All the tactical oriented shooters who were using the SRO regardless of its fragility because they liked the window were sacrificing durability for window size/clarity. Now Trijicon has brought to market an optic that allows them to instead sacrifice a bit of the window size but in exchange they gain back that durability. Those who want to skirt the line between tactical and competition shooting are the target market. For this market this is actually a smart move, especially with the new auto-brightness adjust being a more tactical feature while the crosshair reticle option can be used in place of a larger 6 MOA+ dot which a lot of competitors use. They can do this all while using the same holsters which they were already running or modifying to accept the forward optic. Same footprint on the same guns. Understanding the target audience means understanding the optic. It isn’t for everyone but it’s an extremely smart move for a certain group of people. For the people who this does not apply to, they gave us the RCR. The auto-brightness and multi-reticle would have been nice to see on the RCR, but I don’t think the target audience for that optic cares so much about that either. I have both and think both are great optics for slightly different use cases. I think if you’re being fair the highest price you discuss on this is $645. That’s compared to about $480 street price on RMR type 2. It’s $165 more. When people are saying this costs $300+ more than the RMR type 2, it’s seriously disingenuous. Personally, I would pay $165 more for the larger window, the auto-brightness, and the top loading battery all day. As it stands I paid $560 for mine and it’s a great purchase for that price.

I got the light bearing version. The holster itself is great. Looking for a traditional type wing attachment if anyone has suggestions. Basically, to make a good complete package, you have to throw away the clips and wing attachment that comes with it and spend another 30 bucks on good replacements.
