SO MANY GUITARS AND RECORDING EQUIPMENT, SO LITTLE TIME! How many mixers, guitars, microphones, recorders, loopers, do I need? Many more than I have. Learning the ins and outs of your mixer, recording equipment, and loopers can be quite a daunting task. This channel is dedicated to learning how to use your mixer, P.A. system, recording equipment, loopers, effects units. Learn what they can do and how easy or hard it is to get the desired results.
You can find the equipment I use at my Amazon store front. Using these links help support this channel making it possible for me to bring you more content. www.amazon.com/shop/daerney
What does it mean if you're testing a 1/4 inch guitar cable and all three yellow input lights are solid no matter what input you use? (The green ones turn on for the respective channel, but the yellow ones stay lit)
Hi Deb, Great video again, thanks! I know you uploaded this 6 years ago and I think you may have upgraded to a Beat Buddy but I downloaded this app (paid version) to my iPhone and just have a couple of question... 1. I don't seem to have the same edit options you are demonstrating. Do you think it's different for an iPad? 2. How do set it for a 6/8 pattern? Picture, say, Tennessee Whiskey by Chris Stapleton, or Blue Aint Your Colour by Keith Urban> I've tried iton 6 beats and variations of subs and also on 3 beats (like 3/4) and can't seem to get it right.
Hi again, Deb! Thanks for your great videos, particularly on the VE8! I have used the Boss FS-6 to control the Looper function, mainly for the benefit of stopping the loop with a single press. All these other options to use the FS-6 are interesting. Just to clarify, though... you can only use the FS6 for one of these functions at a time, right? I mean, I think I can only use it for the looper OR the memory OR the guitar effects OR the harmony effects etc. right? Lol - maybe its too complicated for me!
I'm giving up. I bought Songbook Pro. All my music is in pdf format. I put the in Songbook. I made sets but can't manage them. I have been trying to get the ChordPro app, but I can't find how to get it. Anyone have any suggestions?
Hi Deb, I am hoping this will be the fix I am looking for. I teach groups of children of up to 8 in a band setting and would like them to hear their individual instruments together with the backing track via the headphones. We use a mixer in the sessions, with a speaker- however for clarity it would be helpful for them to focus on their own playing. Would this work the same if I used an 8 channel microphone amp- i.e. could they hear themselves playing/singing? Thank you
Well, thank you for making my life much more simple! I was SOOOO going to use the L8 as my interface until I saw this, but now- Fuhgeddaboudit....lol But may still get it as a stand-alone recorder
Thanks for this video, Deb. I just found it. What about ignoring the looper in the VE-8 and just using a dedicated looper, and just using the VE-8 as a mixer. I have a Boss RC3 and prefer this over the VE-8 looper function, especially in conjunction with a FS-6. I also have just acquired a Zoom G3xn multi effects pedal, which has a pretty good drum machine and looper function, so I’m leaning towards this combo. I’m looking at solo performances using the VE-8 and whatever drum machine/looper combo will work best in a live scenario. What do you think?
@@DebErney Thanks Deb. I just watched your video on the Super Metronome app and I have downloaded that… so I guess I’ll have to give everything a go! 😂
I just bought the new Zoom H4Essential and liked it so much that I sold the H5. I did use it up to a few months ago. One got melted when I left it in a Travel Trailer and although it still worked I purchased a second H5. The H recorders can’t be beat.
Now that is funny: today I bought an H5 as a bargain from a music store in Frankfurt that's been in use for demo purposes. I turned it on and it showed Version 2.20(!). Officially there is only 2.10.
Which is easier to use? I use my iPhone 11 now to record my bf’s band but the audio hasn’t been coming through well. I am not very tech savvy so I need something easy- Thanks for any advice!
I used it USB mode and found: Rec. on stereo guitar and vocals no matter what I tried, couldn’t get the two separated. Couldn’t regulate the volume on the headphones, when the signal got to desired levels the headphones were LOUD!, loved the fidelity/resolution. (Acoustic guitar, mic. to CakewalkBB?🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
hi, if using for example the MKE 600 as an overhead: is the -40+40 value on the mixer dB or just "values" because if I record with a mic in the camera, I should level the incoming signal (voice) about -12dB on the h4essential I get a clear sound about Value 14-16 . no noisy background...
Deb Great instructions Question: I thought that you can add effects for a track before recording takes place. However, am I correct that in this video you are adding effects to tracks After they were recorded? My basic question is : can you apply effects Both before and after recording? thanks
What a brilliant review and to the point video! It salvaged the 40 minutes I wasted on other videos trying the understand and find an amp for vocals and acoustic guitar. Thank you so much.
ki bet you have a video for the Boss too, I will look for it. I have been using mine for 2 years and I sort have figured basic things and left it at that. but now I have peddles, power block, and i need to make sure everything plugs in order. and i didn't and still dond understand mono so I will watch again
Can the HDMI output be used to send to a capture card and use the USB-C to connect to a power adapter instead of just using the USB-C connector and put it in webcam mode?
Advice caution the Zoom H6 essential ASIO driver is not compatible with the windows 11 arm64 and the error reported is it required x64 processor. I have been informed that there is no solution for this situation. It cannot be used as a audio interface on windows 11 arm 64.
I haven’t heard of that, but I do experience the volumes will mute until I activate all track volume sliders up and down. Zoom said it it to protect last settings??
