Thank you for this! I bought some extra elastic and converted my various masks to straps around the back of my head. That way they don't hurt my ears and I can hang them around my neck when not in use. My current favorite commercial masks are the hyperlite ones. They sell a 5-pack for $20 and they fit me well and work well. With the ear loops converted to straps behind my head I just put one around my neck in the morning when I get dressed so I always have it when needed, then I hand wash it at the end of the day, or if it gets dirty or questionable before that. There is an article on the web that reviews masks from18 outdoor companies who are making them now. That was helpful too. All the best, Scott
sfmarckx thanks for the comment and tips. Fortunately I don’t need to wear a mask all day. However, I did have a 90 minute in-person meeting the other day and the OR Essential mask stayed comfortable the whole time. Fogging only became an issue after I had ton a fair amount of talking. It didn’t make my ears hurt. But if I had to wear it for hours and hours I’d try your tips.
I don't think Its NIOSH approved. There is some other third party that did approve it for a similar rating though. You may be mistaken because OR now makes some actual N95 masks but you can't buy those as a consumer.
@@quinndyer8717 That is incorrect, the OR mask is not N95 or NIOSH certified, nor are the filters. The filters are HEPA which means they can filter particles down to the micron but once wet no longer works. The mask itself does not seal to face, therefore it can’t be NIOSH certified.
Thanks for your review. That filter has a vertical center seam. Can you tell if it's stitched (in which case it would have sewing holes substantially larger than the surrounding cloth) or if it's melted (in which case no holes). Thanks.
The filter 3-packs also come in a nice plastic zipper bag for storage. There was some thought put into the design, packaging and experience of the mask.
