I'm perfectly happy with my $140 chair. It may wear out faster but in 12 years of repeat buying it is still greatly cheaper than these $2,000+ premium chairs. I have no issues with comfort with chairs so might just be the way I sit or the way my body is built (I'm semi-athletic 5'11" tall 180 lbs.)
Doesn't matter how comfortable they try to make something, the human body isn't designed to stay in one place for hours. You have to get up and stretch.
Everyone thinks they’re a reviewer 😂 The Embody is hands down one of the best chairs out there. I would also put the underrated Steelcase Amia on the same level.
@comfytechquest frank review ??? Too expensive for what I expected... its maybe 800 bugs worth... the seat and the arms are too hard.. headrest missing spend another +200 for that... soooo meeeeehhh its like a glock, whoch you keep upgrading until tou have a viper... I donno 😅
Even 2023 hurts me tbh. I wish herman miller had their own replacement foam - I tried using a third party foam but it kept sliding out and wasn't comfortable
@@comfytechquest TBH I'm not sitting on it perfectly like HM wants you to (Feet straight down on floor, legs 90* - I have adhd so i'm constantly fidgiting around and sitting crosslegged etc. I'm guessing it eventually started being moved from constantly shimmying around (It didnt "Slide out", i miss worded, but it kept being pushed to the very front so it made a big space between the back of the foam and the back of the chair so i had to push it in every so often)
six months ago I bought an Embody Logitech, the backrest makes absolutely no noise, the coccyx area is very comfortable, and I bought the Atlas headrest which is perfect, the only flaw it has is that it is decidedly noisy. but this way the chair is truly perfect. Perhaps the only negative thing is a little fatigue in the lower thighs.
I'm not sure if this review is ment sarcastically, because at almost every category you mention you were not happy with the chair and had to go out of your way by ordering after market adjustments. For a chair that is above 1500$ (!) this should not be necessary..
Yours is a fair critique! A couple of points to consider: - I’ve actually stopped using the armrest cushions nowadays so I consider that a “happy” category without aftermarket adjustments. - Newer Embody chairs have extra seat pan foam vs. my version. This setup is the most comfortable I have been in a chair so far, despite the shortcomings I have flagged. If I ever find a chair that gives me better bang for buck I will let this channel know :)
dammm i found mine in a local auction for less than $10 almost brand new. and i have to say I'm impressed of comfortable this chair is. this is the best chair i ever own.
wow. that was unintuitive on the aeron's part. i did it with the valuable help of your vid after some blind tinkering, but i'm STILL not sure exactly how
I believe that, deep down, most people choose the Embody chair because of its attractive design. If we removed that differential appeal, no one would choose it because it is less adjustable, makes noise, has more plastic, and generally, everyone perceives it as of lower quality. However, the mind needs to justify something illogical because, in reality, the purpose of an office chair should be quality and comfort before an attractive design. In the end, humans end up making more emotional than logical decisions.
I’m not so sure. I moved away from the Aeron as I didn’t like the back support - I found that with the Aeron B, the frame dug into my shoulders if leaning back. With the Aeron C, I found the mesh too saggy for my liking. As noted in this video, I preferred other aspects of the Aeron, such as the arm rests (which I love).
Received mine, badly designed. The bottom part of the back of the chair hits the headrest support. It limits the chair movements when you lay back in it and will break. Show it with videos to Atlas and they will answer that it is normal... Buy it if you want, but know that it will limit and file the plastic...
As shown in my video, can't you just push the headrest back before reclining right back? It's very easy to push back, at least on my copy of the headrest.
6:30 Agree with you 100 percent. Just b/c you have a chair you can now sit "comfortably" in your POSTURE IS STILL OUT OF WACK, YOU DEFINITELY NEED THE HEADREST IN ORDER TO "BUILD YOUR POSTURE" BACK TO "NORMAL".
THANK YOU, YOU LITERALLY "SAVED MY BACK" WITH YOUR VIDEOS ABOUT THIS CHAIR. I'm 6 foot 4.5 inches tall. I always face the problem 1) Do I sit up Straight and make my legs hurt b/c they are not aligned or 2) do I "slouch" to take pressure of my legs to put EVEN MORE PRESSURE ON MY MID BACK/SPINE. *Either option IS NOT FUN NOR COMFORTABLE*. With the Embody + Atlas I can say with 100 percent confidence, THIS IS THE BEST MY POSTURE HAS EVER BEEN IN MY 40 YEARS ALIVE!
PSA FOR TALL PEOPLE: I'm 6 foot 4 inches tall (4.5 inches to be technical). So my Torso and Legs are both "longer than the average Human. OUT OF ALL THE HERMAN MILLERS THE EMBODY FITS ME BEST. WHY? I have a bad back and the Embody literally HAS THE BEST BACK SUPPORT, once you learn how to adjust it and get used to it. I don't find a Headrest needed if you are spending less than 5ish hours a day in the chair, if you are spending more and are 6'4" or taller, IMO the headrest is MANDATORY to complete the chair.
I just found your channel, and well, let me say.. You make fantastic content. It won't be long until you have thousands of subscribers waiting to hear your thoughts! Keep it up sir, you're providing impeccable value to all that watch your videos!
This is one of the nicest comments I've ever had on the channel! Let me know if there's anything in particular you'd like me to make content on, I have been considering other comfy tech videos (e.g., related to my standing deck or footrest, both of which I love). I'm all ears!
I have had an embody for a good year now and am trying the aeron as the embody is really aggravating my lower back and I feel it’s adding to my si joint pain. It’s also giving me bum pain after a while as the seat isn’t very plump and that’s with some extra foam I put in. This is the Logitech gaming edition. I have ordered a size c aeron remaster and am 182cm and 80kg hoping it will be ok
Interesting. I'd be keen to know how you get on with the Aeron size C. I'm very similar height/weight to yourself (185cm/80kg) and I didn't particularly rate the upper back support on the C. On the Aeron B, I found that the upper frame dug into my back if I leant back but in hindsight, I think perhaps the B was a better fit for me overall.
I just did this 2 days ago with the help of this video and the original post on an online forum. My 2019 Embody now feels so soft and so comfortable. NOW it feels like a premium chair. I used 1x23x23 high density cooling memory foam. I cut very little around the edges and along the sides. Getting into place was extremely easy and took only seconds.
@@treid1369 From Amazon. Foamma 1" x 23" x 23" Cooling Gel-Infused Memory Foam Cushion Also, I recently added Wide Bonded Dacron Upholstery Grade Polyester Batting, 1 yd, 36" W. It typically goes over memory foam to smooth the transition from padded to non-padded. I got it to help keep the seat cooler. It works. Just when I thought it could not get any better it did. I can confidently say that not even the newest logitech embody is as comfortable as mine. It's plush and extremely comfortable. My next project will be to do the backrest.
Great video mate, really interested in getting this, but I'm just wondering about the embody in general, did you ever / do you still feel the plastic in the lower back? I've only sat in the chair for about 5 days total so far and I've seen some people say it goes away / get used to it?
I've had mine for almost a week. Really loving it, but I think I'll probably go ahead and add the layer of memory foam to the seat pan. Thanks for the suggestion.
So funny, I literally just watched your embody review which you uploaded 1 year ago and now you've released this! How convenient for me :D thank you for making this.
I got two embody chairs. The one in my office has the atlas headrest that I had preordered. Today I decided to order one for my second chair as well that I use at home, because it is fantastic.
embody seat is unbareable for me lol. mine must have been broken or no padding because it was literally harder then hard wood. coming from a secretlabs chair which arent known for being soft. it made the embody logitech look like a freaking brick LOL!!
@@comfytechquest the seat itself! the back is so good! it’s just the seat is so hard for me. i think i’ll look into that. unless i’m just in the adjustment period or break in. but i read that the logitech has extra added padding in the seat, couldn’t imagine the normal embody then lol
it’s like i’m hitting the hard bit at the bottom but i’m not heavy or anything so im not sure what’s going on, i think extra foam is something i’ll definitely look into
@Snxgur here’s the video, maybe worth taking a look at whether there’s a big enough gap for custom foam - Herman Miller Embody - adding your own foam (SUPER easy!) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ajHjDt9Vf6o.html
I have the gaming embody, no headrest yet, but maybe I'll get it someday. The Embody is obviously a very nice chair although I do kinda wish the padding was a but thicker.
Thanks for stopping by! Do you mean the padding on the seat pan or back? I have a video showing how to add foam to the seat pan. I hadn’t thought too much about the padding on the back of the chair, other than thinking you don’t get that nice “ahhhhh” feeling when initially sitting in the chair.
@@bonanzabrandon6877 It's super easy to add foam to the seat pan without damaging the chair (at least it was for my 2018 Embody) - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ajHjDt9Vf6o.html
Oh nevermind, found answer in the comments - you should make a review of the headrest, do you feel like its worth it? Have it changed the way you use the chair? Lol the headrest alone costs more than my current dx racer chair did, so i'm a bit on the fence about getting it, but at the same time I have a feeling that it will make the chair perfect/complete it :P Looking forward to receiving my Embody in two weeks :D
spending months agonising about what chair to buy is more absurd than the price of the chair. could’ve made money with that amount of time that would’ve paid for the chair many times over lol
I went with the approach of initially buying a new Aeron, so I could easily return if unhappy. After returning the Aeron, I then purchased a second hand Embody as I couldn’t quite justify the new Embody price tag, and also because at the time I think only the gaming Embody was available to buy new on the UK.
Personally, I like to keep the back fit support reasonably loose, to avoid the Embody pushing my shoulders forward. If I tighten the back fit then I do get undesirable rounding.
I have owned one for eight years looks almost new. I had a lot of replacement arms (button issue) but they provided new ones and fitted them at home. They are now giving me a new chair after eight years because of the arm button issue which is immense. Worth every single penny. It was purchased to help cure my sciatica and that's exactly what it did. I have tried every chair on the market in this range never found a better one.
I got my logitech embody a couple days ago and I love it. Amazingly through a crazy set of coincidences I actually ended up getting refunded AND got the brand new chair delivered. I think it's a great chair and I'm super happy to have it, but I'm not so sure i would have felt the same had I actually had to pay $1600 (or 2k) for it. If you have that kind of money to splurge then for sure go for it, but don't break the bank for it because I'm guessing a chair half the price would likely come close to the comfort of the embody gaming. As for no headrest, i for sure think it needs one. My atlas headrest is coming tomorrow! Unfortunately I had to pay the $200 for that one though 😉
